With the commitment to achieve the Agenda 2030 and “leave no one behind”, the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy
offers a framework to create a basis for a lasting change in disability inclusion across the work of the UN system. In
line with this objective, the UN system is determined to “walk the talk” and become a more inclusive employer open
for all, including persons with disabilities, through welcoming and enhancing diversity and inclusion in all aspects of
its operations.

In partnership with the International Disability Alliance (IDA), an umbrella organization that represents over 1,100
organizations of persons with disabilities and their families, UN entities will jointly host an online career event for
persons with disabilities interested in employment with the UN system.

This virtual event will offer an opportunity to learn about the UN System and what working in the UN entails. It will
explain how to find and apply for jobs in the UN and give useful tips for the application and assessment processes.
Entry-level opportunities for young people to join the UN workforce that will be presented in more detail include:

• UNDP-UNV Talent Programme for Young Professionals with Disabilities, which aims to increase the inclusion
of persons with disabilities into the workforce of the development sector. The Programme also aims to build
a talent pipeline of highly qualified professionals with disabilities who can contribute to the attainment of
the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at national and global levels.
• Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme, that provides young professionals pursuing a career in
development with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation and
international development. This programme is sponsored by different governments and offered in a number
of UN system organizations.
• The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, that contributes to peace and development through
volunteerism worldwide. This programme integrates qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN
Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.
• Internships opportunities, that aim to provide students and recent graduates with a first-hand impression of
the day-to-day working environment of the United Nations. Internship opportunities are available in a variety
of areas.

The event will be conducted in English and will be recorded and further disseminated through social media channels.
Captioning and Sign Language interpretation will be available during the event.
