DOCUMENTS: RPT-30 Pre-test procedure (TST-RFT-143)
MATERIALS REQUIRED
• Digital multimeter
• Audio Analyzer
• Modulation Analyzer
• Spectrum Analyzer
• Frequency Counter
• RF Power Meter
• 50 Ω 100W (or Greater) Dummy Load with sampling attenuator
• DC Power Supply (13.5V ≈ 10A)
Setup
1) Acquire an RPT-30 manual (566-002) and while performing the following steps fill out
the test report sheet found on page 15. (See Appendix B)
4) Verify that the front panel meter of the UUT is near full scale and in the “RED.”
5) Using the voltmeter measure P1 pin 10 on the power supply board for 13.6V +/- 0.2V.
Adjust R2 for 13.6V if not within tolerance.
1) Connect the RF power meter to the output of the output filter board (J1).
2) Connect an external DC power supply (adjusted to 13.5V) to J1 of the I/O filter board
and apply power.
4) Verify the proper output according to the frequency chart below. (Unless the sales order
states differently.)
150 MHz 40 W
215 MHz 40 W
300 MHz 35 W
400 MHz 30 W
Note: If the unit does not meet power out readjust using the Pretest procedure
(TST-RFT-143) Power Amplifier Alignment section.
5) Measure the current load on the external DC power supply for less then 6 Amps.

6) Using the sampling attenuator from the dummy load, connect a spectrum analyzer and
verify that all spurious and harmonic output is down at least 60dB from the carrier.
11) Re-verify that the spurious emissions are still within tolerance.
13) Re-adjust R5 on the output filter until the front panel meter reads 100%.
14) Move the front panel CONTROL switch of the UUT to OFF.
15) Disconnect the RF power meter from the output of the output filter board (J1).
16) Move the front panel CONTROL switch of the UUT to TRANSMIT.
17) Adjust R6 on the output filter until the front panel ANTENNA led is flashing.
18) Move the front panel CONTROL switch of the UUT to OFF.
19) Re-connect the RF power meter to the output of the output filter board (J1).
Encode Check
3) Attach a scope probe attached to a frequency counter to the bottom leg of R32.
4) Adjust R37 on the audio board for 27Hz +/- 0.1Hz. (Unless the sales order states
different.)
1) Set the Audio Analyzer for an unbalanced HI impedance output, while generating a
1KHz sine wave @ -40dBm into the UUT at the front panel INPUT 1.

SUBJECT: RPT-30 (140-495MHz) TRANSMITTER FINAL TEST REVISION LEVEL A .
4) Adjust R22 on the Audio board for 0 dB on the front panel meter.
5) Adjust the front panel INPUT 1 pot for 3dB of drop on the front panel meter.
6) Repeat step 5 for INPUT 2, INPUT 3, and INPUT 4. (Using their respective adjustment
pots.)
Modulator Check
1) Using the sampling attenuator from the dummy load, connect a frequency counter.
3) Adjust L1 and L2 on the modulator, until the unit is set to the frequency on the sales
order. +/- 300Hz for 150MHz or +/- 1KHz for 215, 300, and 450MHz.
5) Adjust L3 and L4 on the modulator, until the unit is set to the frequency on the sales
order. +/- 300Hz for 150MHz or +/- 1KHz for 215, 300, and 450MHz.
6) Using the sampling attenuator from the dummy load, connect a modulation analyzer.
14) Adjust R33 on the audio board for an addition deviation of 600Hz. (IE: 5.4KHz = 6KHz)

Finishing Up
1) Add the fiberglass insulation, Styrofoam cover (600-043), and oscillator lid (700-220-18)
to the top of the modulator board.
2) Place a strip of aluminum foil tape (510-250) on the heat sink of the amplifier to the back
panel just behind the 13.5 V regulator being careful not to short the regulator to ground.
(See figure 1)
3) Fasten down the lid using QTY (4) 500-187 screws in the back and QTY (13) 500-183
screws in the remaining holes.
4) Recheck the power out and audio compression and make adjustments if necessary.
6) Remove AC input.
7) Add a signed and dated TESTED sticker to the back of the unit.
End of Test.
