 Homework is a vital part of education because it gives

students the opportunity to apply knowledge gained in school. And

far from preventing families from bonding, homework encourages

parents to become more involved in their children’s educational

activities. It depends to the student because as I have known there

were no cellphones or computers before, so that they relied on

books, physical research and frequented libraries. Technology has

made things a trillion times easier for students, these days it

makes difficult to understand why and how they could afford to

complain about homework if they involve research only. Homework is

very important for the students most especially in kindergartens.

The issue about “No Homework Policy” has affected not only

students and parents, but also teachers and educators. Students

should know his/her responsibilities because as a student if you

have determination in life, you will succeed. Children needs

homework sometimes because it helps to make them wise. At night

parents ask their children if they have any homework or assignments

because even before this is a practice and of course the time to

bond with your parents. I’m sure you’ve experienced that.

I definitely do not agree with the position of the Department

of Education (DepEd) that a “No Homework Policy” prohibiting

teachers from assigning academic works to be completed by students

outside of regular school hours is beneficial to Filipino students.

If the students didn’t understand the lesson that had been

discussed by the teacher, homework is the one thing to motivate

students to review their lessons. Homework should not be prohibited

because we just need to manage our time to do our responsibilities.

Doing homework promotes a sense of responsibility and diligence

among learners. Teacher teaches the value of hard work and

industriousness.

By banning homework, all these problems are avoided.

Students have a proper time for rest and relaxation. Parents are

spared the burden of unexpected expenses. Teachers are also spared

the extra time and effort to check homework or assignments and can

devote more time to classroom preparation and to their work. But

I strongly believe that homework or assignments must really be

part of a student life.
