PROVINCIA DE HUAMANGA
Ubicación : Se sitúa en la sierra central del Perú, a medio camino entre
Lima y Cusco.
Altitud de su capital : La ciudad de Ayacucho se encuentra a 2,761 m.s.n.m.
Clima : Templado, seco y con una baja humedad, propicia para el
tratamiento de enfermedades reumáticas y respiratorias.
Distancia : A 9 horas de Lima por vía asfaltada “Los
Libertadores”.
A 50 minutos por vía aérea.

Ayacucho, Ciudad Virreinal

Su ciudad capital, es uno de los conjuntos arquitectónicos y artísticos más notables del país,
de los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII. Destacan sus templos y capillas de estilo renacentista, barroco y
mestizo, que guardan en su interior verdaderas obras de arte como pinturas, imágenes y
bellos retablos tallados en madera y bañados en pan de oro.

Asimismo, sus señoriales casonas de cal y piedra, sus caprichosas callecitas y sus barrios
tradicionales que sirven de escenario para celebrar, todos los días, sus costumbres populares,
por lo que Ayacucho es cultura que vive y crea arte, pues es también “la capital del arte
popular y la artesanía peruana”.

Ayacucho, vice regal city

His capital city is one of the most notable architectonic and artistic places of Peru, from the
XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries. They highlight their temples and chapels of Renaissance,
Baroque and hybrid style that preserve in their interior true works of art like paintings, statues
and beautiful altars in wood, covered with thin gold plates.

The antic houses of the historic center, made out of stones and mud bricks, the picturesque
small streets and the handcrafts wards are used daily for the popular habits, and makes from
Ayacucho a living culture city and a place creating art. It's the” capital of popular art and
Peruvian handcraft”.
Cueva de Pikimachay

Ciudad Arqueológica de Wari

Situado a 22 km. al noreste de Ayacucho. Fue la capital del primer imperio andino
y una gran urbe en su tiempo (entre los siglos VI y XI d.C). Es una gran ciudad toda
de piedra, donde se estima vivieron unos 50,000 habitantes; dividida
en zonas religiosas, artesanales, habitacionales y administrativas, que nos demuestran
un elevado nivel organizativo, técnico y artístico. Se puede visitar el museo de sitio,
sectores de Chiquwasi, Capillapata, Monjaschayuq y Vegachayuqmuqu.

Prehistoric Cave of Pikimachay

(Halfway between Ayacucho and Huanta)

Located at 40 min. by car from Ayacucho, on paved road, and further 30 min. more
walking uphill on a small footpath.
In the history of Peru, it's the place where the most antic remains of human presence have
been discovered (aprox. 12,000 years before Christ).

Archaeological city of Wari

Located 22 km. to the northeast of Ayacucho. It was the capital of the first Andean empire
and a great city in their time (among the centuries VI to XI after Cr). It is a great city made
out of stone, where the population was about 50.000 inhabitants, divided in religious,
handcrafts, residential and administrative areas, what demonstrates us a high
organizational, technical and artistic level. The visitor can visit the site museum, the
sectors of Chiqowasi, Capillapata, Monjaschayuq, Vegachayuqmuqu.
Pueblo de Quinua (a 3,200 m.s.n.m.)
Localizado a 1 hora en vehículo desde Ayacucho, por vía asfaltada, es un pueblo típicamente
andino, donde la mayoría de sus habitantes hacen arte con la cerámica y tienen la tradición de
adornar los techos de sus viviendas con iglesias y toritos de barro. En su plaza principal se
encuentra la Casa de la Capitulación de Ayacucho.

Pampa de Ayacucho (a 3,400 m.s.n.m.)

A 1km. del pueblo de Quinua se encuentra este Santuario Histórico Nacional, que sirvió de
escenario de la Batalla de Ayacucho del 9 de diciembre de 1824. En homenaje a tal gesta
heroica se levantó un obelisco de 44 metros de altura, símbolo de la libertad
hispanoamericana. Este histórico lugar también es un mirador que permite apreciar un paisaje
espectacular.

Bosque de Puya Raimondi de Chanchayllo

Hacia la ruta de Vilcashuamán, por la zona de Manallasacc, se encuentra el bosque más denso
del mundo de Puya Raimondi (con hasta 980 plantas por hectárea), un lugar ideal para la
práctica de eco-turismo.

Village of Quinua (to 3,200 m above sea level)

Located at 1 hour in vehicle from Ayacucho, for via asphalted, it is a typically Andean town,
where most of their inhabitants make art with the ceramic and they have the tradition of
adorning the roofs of their housings with churches and bulls of mud. In their main square
he/she is the House of the Capitulation of Ayacucho.

Pampa of Ayacucho (3,400 m above sea level)

At 1 km. of the village of Quinua is the National Historical Sanctuary that served as
scenario for the Battle of Ayacucho on December 9th 1824. In homage to such a heroic
event, a 44 meters high obelisk, symbol of the South American freedom has been erected.
This historical place is also a viewpoint that allows appreciating a spectacular landscape.

Forest of Puyas Raimondi of Chanchayllo

Toward the route of Vilcashuaman, close to the area of Manallasacc, it is the densest
forest in the world of Puyas Raimondi (with up to 980 plants per hectare), an ideal place
for the practice of eco-tourism.

ATRACTIVOS TURÍSTICOS

Valle de San Miguel (2 300 m.s.n.m.)

Tiene un clima cálido y agradable, rodeado por el río Torobamba. Una zona
de exuberante vegetación y sus tierras son propicias para la producción de
árboles como naranja, chirimoya, palta, limón, lúcuma, etc. En el trayecto se
puede observar hermosas casas haciendas de estilo netamente colonial.

Catarata de Capillapampa (2 500 m.s.n.m.)

Ubicado al oeste de la ciudad de San Miguel, de aproximadamente 50 m. de altura
terminando en una poza que sirve de piscina para las familias que visitan el lugar con
fines de recreación.

Valley of San Miguel (2 300 m. above sea level)

He/she has a warm and pleasant climate, surrounded by the river Torobamba. An area of
exuberant vegetation and their lands are favorable for the production of trees like orange,
chirimoya, avocado, lemon, lúcuma, etc. In the itinerary one can observe beautiful houses

Waterfall of Capillapampa (2 500 m. above sea level)

Located to the west of San Miguel's city, the 50 m. height waterfall terminates in a puddle that
serves as pool for the families that visit the place with recreation ends.

Valle y Ciudad de Huanta:

Bautizada por el naturalista Antonio Raimondi como la “Esmeralda de los Andes”, debido a la
riqueza y contrastes de su naturaleza, en ella existen variedad de pisos ecológicos y
microclimas que le permiten destacar en la producción de lúcumas, miel de abejas y
derivados, vino y licores de frutas.

Los días domingos, se puede apreciar una típica feria campesina, donde los nativos de las
alturas todavía comercian mediante el trueque.

TOURIST ATTRACTIVENESS

Valley and City of Huanta:

Baptized by the naturalistic Antonio Raimondi as the "Esmeralda from the Andes", due to the
wealth and contrasts of the nature and the existence of a variety of ecological floors and
microclimates that allow highlighting in the production of lucumas, honey and derived
products such as liquors of fruits.

On Sundays, you can appreciate a typical farmer's fair, where the native of the heights still
trade by means of the exchange.
Luricocha (2 580 m.s.n.m)
A 5 min. al norte de la ciudad de Huanta por carretera asfaltada. Capital Frutícola del
Departamento. Es un lugar de descanso y de reencuentro con la naturaleza, abundan
diversas frutas, viveros forestales, áreas de esparcimiento, pero lo que más destaca, es la
agradable gastronomía típica de la zona.

La festividad más importante es la Fiesta de las Cruces que se celebra el 3 de mayo de

cada año; en esta misma fecha se desarrolla el Festival de la Palta.

Cañon de Huatuscalle (3 150 m.s.n.m)

Ubicado a 30 min. En vehículo desde Luricocha, y 20 minutos más a pie por un caminito
ligeramente empinado. Se trata de un mirador natural donde se puede apreciar un bello
panorama de la unión de los ríos Cachi, Urubamba y Mantaro.
Esta zona permite la práctica de trekking suave o turismo de naturaleza.

Montaña y Apu Razuhuilca (5,000 m.s.n.m)

Ubicada a 1 hora por trocha carrozable al este de Huanta. Posee varias lagunas en las
cuales es posible pasear en bote, pescar truchas, observar patos silvestres, perdices y
practicar el trekking, andinismo, etc.

Luricocha (2 580 m. above sea level )

Located north of the city of Huanta, at only 5 min with paved road. It's the” Fruit-Capital” of
the Department. It is a place of rest and contact with the nature, with a lot of dif ferent
fruits, breeding grounds, recreation areas, but one of the best attractive is the pleasant
typical gastronomy of this area.

The most important festivity is the cross-race that takes place every year on the third of
may ; on this same date you'll enjoy the Festival of the avocado.

Canyon of Huatuscalle (3,150 m. above sea level)

Located at 30 min by car from Luricocha, and 20 minutes more walking a lightly steeped
path. It is a natural viewpoint where you can appreciate a beautiful panorama of the union
of 3 rivers: Cachi, Urubamba and Mantaro.
This area is convenient for the practice of soft trekking or nature-
tourism.

Mountain and Apu of “Razuhuilca” (5,000 m. above sea level)

Located at 1 hour by farmer road to the east of Huanta. It possesses several lagoons in
which is possible to go for a walk in boat, to fish trouts, to observe wild ducks, partridges
and to practice trekking and Andean climbing, etc.
Huamanguilla (distrito de Huanta)
Situada a cerca de 2 horas de la ciudad de Ayacucho, su ubicación estratégica y suelo fértil le
permite ser productora permanente de hortalizas, cuenta con campiñas pintorescas y posee
una laguna la cual abasteció de agua a la ciudad arqueológica de Wari, a través de un canal
considerado obra maestra de ingeniería.
La zona de Huamanguilla es apta para el desarrollo de agroturismo combinado con trekking e
historia.

Parque Ecológico de Sivia (490 m.s.n.m.)

Aproximadamente a 6 horas de Huanta se ubica la localidad de Sivia, donde destaca su
Parque Ecológico, con una dimensión de 6 hectáreas que permite la conservación de la flora
y fauna silvestre de la región. En su recorrido uno puede pasar por la caída de agua-sapo, casa
flotante, área de monos, mirador, Jaula paujil, tucán, tigrillo, entre muchos más. Esta zona
convierte a Sivia en un lugar privilegiado con la biodiversidad de la selva ayacuchana.

Huamanguilla (district of Huanta)

Located nearly 2 hours away from the city of Ayacucho, his strategic location and fertile
grounds allow it to be a permanent producer of vegetables. It has picturesque country sides
and it possesses a lagoon which supplied drink water to the archaeological city of Wari,
through a 40km long channel, considered as a technological masterpiece.
The area of Huamanguilla is convenient for the development of agro-tourism combined with
trekking and history.

Ecologic park of Sivia (490 m. above sea level)

Approximately at 6 hours of Huanta the town of Sivia has an unique Ecological Park, with a
dimension of 6 hectares that allows the conservation of the flora and wild fauna of the region.
You can visit the water falls of “Catarata” and “agua-sapo”, the floating house, the area of
monkeys, the viewpoint, the paujil-cage; you will sea toucans, “tigrillos”, among many more.
This area transforms Sivia into a privileged place with the biodiversity of the forest of
Ayacucho.

: Propio de la sierra, con lluvias de noviembre a marzo Distancia :

ATRACTIVOS TURÍSTICOS

Complejo Arqueologico de Pumaqocha (Intihuatana)

De construcción casi paralela al de Vilcashuamán, lo que hace probable que ambos sitios hayan cumplido
funciones complementarias en su época, tal vez como zona de descanso de la élite inca.

Los principales sectores de este complejo son: el palacio del Inca, el torreón, baño del Inca (piedra con
trece ángulos). El paisaje del entorno es de gran belleza, resaltada por una misteriosa laguna que sirve de
hábitat a diversas aves silvestres.

TOURIST ATTRACTIVENESS

Archaeological Complex of Pumaqocha (Intihuatana)

Constructed at the same time as that of Vilcashuaman, it's probable that both places have completed
complementary functions in their time, perhaps as resting area for the Inca elite.

The main sectors of this complex are: the palace of the Inca, the torreón (reinforced wall), the bathroom of
the Inca (stone with thirteen angles). The landscape of the surroundings is of great beauty. A mysterious
lagoon is the habitat for diverse wild birds.
Bosque de Titankayoq
Ubicado a 3 horas de caminata desde Vischongo, y a una altura entre los 3,500 y 4,250
m.s.n.m, es un área natural donde se encuentra el bosque de Puya Raimondi más grande del
mundo (12000 Has.), se calcula la presencia de 250,000 ejemplares aproximadamente.
Cuenta con flora y fauna silvestre propias de la zona, y es un lugar donde se practica
deportes de Aventura y naturaleza.

Pueblo de Pumacocha
Se sitúa a 3 000 m.s.n.m. y a 20 minutos en vehículo desde Vischongo. Su templo colonial es
de estilo barroco mestizo, construido el año de 1 730. Pumacocha es lugar propicio para la
producción agropecuaria, cuenta con un clima cálido, abundante agua, paisaje pintoresco y
un albergue para turistas.

Ushno
Estructura piramidal escalonada conformada por cinco plataformas superpuestas con una
entrada de doble jamba trapezoidal, que se conecta con una escalinata que conduce al piso
superior , en el cual resalta el sillón del inca que es un bloque monolítico con dos asientos,
desde donde el inca y la coya posiblemente presidían ceremonias militares y religiosas en la
plaza inca de Vilcashuamán.

Forest of Titankayoq
Located at 3 hours walking from Vischongo, and at an altitude between the 3,500 and 4,250
m.above sea level, it is the largest natural reserve area in the world of the famous Puya
Raimondi plants, (12.000 Hectares). There are approximately 250,000 plants, only in
Titankayoq. The flora and wild fauna is typical of this area, and it is a marvelous place for the
practice of adventure and nature sports.

Village of Pumacocha
It is located 3 000 m.above sea level and to 20 minutes by car from Vischongo. The
architecture of the colonial temple (constructed in 1,730), is a mixed baroque with local
symbols. Pumacocha is a favorable place for the agriculture and the cattle. The climate is
warm, with abundant water, picturesque landscape and with a logging for tourists.

Ushno
It is a pyramidal structures conformed with five staggered platforms superimposed with an
entrance of double trapezoidal jamb that is connected with stairs that drives to the superior
floor, in which stands out the armchair of the Inca that is a monolithic block with two seats,
from where the Inca and the coya possibly presided over military and religious ceremonies in
the Inca square of Vilcashuaman.
Kallanca o Palacio de Tupac Inca

Edificio ubicado detrás del Ushno, de planta rectangular con cinco puertas trapezoidales.

Templo del Sol y la Luna

Conjunto arquitectónico de primer nivel, estilo inca imperial, ubicado en la plaza principal de
Vilcashuamán, compuesto por tres terrazas escalonadas, en la segunda de ellas se puede
apreciar nichos trapezoidales ciegos y hornacinas, igualmente muros con entrantes y
salientes y una escalinata principal.
Sobre estos muros de piedras incas se encuentra actualmente el templo católico de San Juan
Bautista, donde anteriormente estuvieron el templo del sol y de la luna, el Accllahuasi,
viviendas de los sacerdotes y las mamaconas.

Piedra del Vaticinio

Ubicado al sur-este de la plaza. Es una enorme piedra que sobresale del suelo, en cuya
parte superior se puede apreciar una pequeña concavidad de donde salen dos ramales con
canales en forma de zigzag, que al final vuelven a juntarse terminando en un pequeño
vertedero. En esta piedra se habrían vaticinado un buen o mal año agrícola y el futuro de las
parejas luego del sirvinacuy (convivencia).

Kallanca or Palace of Túpac Inca Yupanki

Stone construction located behind the Ushno, with rectangular plant and five trapezoidal
doors.

Tempel of the Sun and the Moon

A first class architectural group, of imperial Inca style, located in the main square of
Vilcashuaman; composed by three staggered terraces, in the second of them you can
appreciate blind trapezoidal niches, and walls with incoming and salient and a main stair.
On these Inca walls, the Spanish build their Catholic church of Saint John the Baptist, exactly
where previously the temple of the sun was.

Stone of the Prediction

Located south-east of the main square. It is an enormous stone that stands out of the floor, in
whose superior part you can appreciate a small concavity from where two brunches are
coming out, with channels in form of zigzag that join finishing in a small drain at the end. In
this stone a good or bad agricultural year or the future of the couples would have been
predicted after the ceremony of the “sirvinacuy “(coexistence).

Clima : Templado y generalmente soleado

ATRACTIVOS TURÍSTICOS

Circuito de las Cataratas

Es una caminata ligera de cerca de 3 horas, disfrutando de la visita a 3 pequeñas pero
atractivas cataratas: “Pumapaqcha”, “Batán” y “Qorimaqma”, atravesando en el recorrido,
jardines de plantas silvestres, con mariposas multicolores y un ambiente de paz y
tranquilidad que invita a quedarse.

Aguas medicinales de Huahuapuquio

Sus aguas son cristalinas, con temperatura promedio de 26 ºC. Su gran caudal abastece a
una piscina donde los visitantes pueden gozar de un baño reconfortable y medicinal,
especialmente para dolores reumáticos.

Circuit of the Waterfalls

It is a slight walk of about 3 hours, enjoying the visit to 3 small but attractive waterfalls:
"Pumapaqcha", "Batán" and "Qorimaqma", crossing gardens of wild plants, with
multicolored butterflies and an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that invites to stay.

Medicinal water of Huahuapuquio

Their waters are crystalline, with average temperature of 26 ºC. This spring supplies to a
swimming pool where the visitors can enjoy a comfortable and medicinal bath, especially
for rheumatic pains.
Río Pampas

Nace en la laguna de Choclococha y Orccococha (Huancavelica), y tiene una extensión

aproximada de 400 km.

Al pasar cerca de la ciudad de Cangallo, irriga su valle y es fuente de vida para sus singulares
habitantes, como es el caso de los “Morochucos”, hábiles jinetes y eximios guitarristas y
cantores.

Las peculiares condiciones de este río podrían permitir desarrollar un tipo de deporte
librero llamado “floating” (flotamiento en botes).

Pampas River

Born in the lagoon of Choclococha and Orccococha (Huancavelica), this river has an
approximate extension of 400 km.

When passing near the city of Cangallo, it irrigates their valley and it is a source of life for their
singular inhabitants, known as the "Morochucos", skilled horsemen and excellent guitarists
and singers.

The peculiar conditions of this river could allow the development of a type of sport called
rafting or tyre-tube "floating”.

PROVINCIA DE PAUCAR DEL SARA SARA
Ubicación : Al sur del departamento de Ayacucho
Altitud de su capital : La ciudad de Pausa se encuentra a 2,524 m.s.n.m.
Clima : Frío seco
Distancia : 4 horas vía asfaltada de Nazca a Puquio, y de allí 9 horas más
hacia la derecha, por vía afirmada hasta Pausa.
Ruta alternativa: 5 horas desde Atico (Arequipa) vía afirmada.

ATRACTIVOS TURÍSTICOS

Nevado del Sara Sara

Ubicado a una altura de 5 550 m.s.n.m. Tiene la forma de un cono escalonado, desde donde se
puede apreciar la belleza natural de las provincias de Parinacochas y Paucar del Sara Sara. Es
posible la práctica de deportes de aventura como trekking y ascensiones, pero no se cuenta con
guías profesionales de montaña para desarrollar programas organizados.

Aguas Termo-Medicinales
Las aguas termales de Mirmarca se ubican en el sitio llamado “Estera” del distrito de Pausa. Tiene
facultades curativas por contener sales minerales.
El agua termal de CAJA, ubicado al noreste de la localidad de Usúa, su temperatura es de 37º C,
contiene ácido carbónico, es de color blanquecino debido al azufre hidratado. Se tiene evidencia de
que ha curado enfermedades como la parálisis, dispepsia, reumatismo, irritación de los ojos y otras
enfermedades de la piel.

Altitude of the capital : The city of Pausa is at 2,524 m.above sea
level Climate : cold and dry
Distances : 4 hours (paved road) from Nazca to Puquio, and further 9 hours
more to the right, to Pausa via a af firmed (not paved) road.
Alternative route: 5 hours from Atico (Arequipa) via af firmed
road.

Snowy mountain of Sara Sara

Located at a height of 5 550 m.above sea level, it has the shape of a staggered cone, from where
you can appreciate the natural beauty of the province of Parinacochas and Paucar del Sara Sara. It is
possibleto practice adventure sports like trekking and ascensions, but there are no professional
mountain guides nor organized programs up to now.

Thermo - medicinal waters

The thermal waters of Mirmarca are located in the place called "Estera" of the district of Pausa. It's
said to have healing abilities for containing mineral salts.
The thermal water of Caja, located to the north-east of the village of Usúa, with temperature of 37.
ºC, contains carbonic acid, and is of whitish color due to the moisturized sulfur. One has evidences
that it has cured illnesses like the paralysis, dyspepsia, rheumatism, irritation of the eyes and other
illnesses of the skin.

ATRACTIVOS TURÍSTICOS

Reserva Nacional de Pampa Galeras

Ubicada en el distrito de Lucanas, entre los 3,900 y 4,200 m.s.n.m. Tiene una extensión
de
6,500 hectáreas y concentra el mayor número de vicuñas en su estado natural
(aproximadamente cerca de 52,000). Destaca la ceremonia del “Chaqu”, un ritual
ancestral que se desarrolla el 24 de Junio de todos los años, siendo el objetivo de esta
ceremonia la esquila de la fibra de vicuña.

Laguna de Yaurihuiri
Constituida por varias lagunas con abundante fauna silvestre, como huachuas, flamencos,
parihuanas, patos silvestres y una flora variada y típica de la zona alto andina, que se
extiende a lo largo de las pampas de Lucanas y desde donde se divisa el nevado
Qarhuarazo (5,112 m.s.n.m.)

National Reserves of Pampas Galeras

Located in the district of Lucanas, between the 3,900 and 4,200 m.above sea level, with
an extension of 6,500 hectares and the biggest concentration of vicuñas in their natural
condition (approximately near 52,000 animals). The most famous ceremony is the
"Chaqu", an ancestral ritual that takes place on June 24th of every year.The objective of this
ceremony is the shearing of the vicuña fiber.

Lagoon of Yaurihuiri
Constituted by several lagoons with abundant wild fauna, as huachuas, flamingos,
flamencos, wild ducks and a varied and typical flora of the Andean highlands that extends
along the pampas of Lucanas, and from where one can see the snowy Qarhuarazo (5,112
m. Above sea level ).
Andenerias de Andamarca
Ubicadas en la parte nororiental de la provincia de Lucanas, a una altura de 3 600 m.s.n.m.
Estas construcciones a modo de terrazas agrícolas de la época prehispánica se encuentran en
uso bajo un sistema hidráulico subterráneo.

Catarata de Puzapaqcha
Ubicada a 30 minutos en vehiculo desde Andamarca, y de allí 1 hora y media más por camino
de herradura. Tiene una caída de 200 metros aproximadamente que se desliza en tres niveles.
Considerada como la catedral de los danzantes de tijera donde se consagran y toman energías
y fuerza de los Auquis y Wamanis en el ritual de pacto con los dioses andinos.

Camino Real de K´ellkata

Al noroeste del distrito de Cabana Sur, de camino ancho y puentes Inka, paso obligado de
Cusco a Nazca, que se divisa desde el palacio de Osqonta.

Andenerias (terrace-cultivations) of Andamarca

Located in the northeastern part of the province of Lucanas. at a height of 3 600 m. above sea
level. These constructions by way of agricultural terraces of the prehispanic time are in use
under a system of hydraulic underground channels.

Waterfall of Puzapaqcha
Located at 30 minutes by car from Andamarca, and from there one an a half hour more on a
farmer road. It has a fall of 200 meters approximately in three levels. Considered as the capital
of the scissor-dancers where they are consecrated and they charge themselves with the
energy and forces of the Auquis and Wamanis in a pact ritual with the Andean gods.

Real Road of K' ellkata

To the northwest of the district of South Cabana. This wide path with Inca bridges is the
obliged way from Cusco to Nazca, which is divided from the palace of Osqonta.
Valle del Sondondo
Constituido por los distritos de Andamarca,

Aguas Termo-medicinales de Qeronta

Ubicadas a 50 minutos de viaje desde la represa de Pachaya.
Posee propiedades medicinales para la piel, artritis, así como otorga
fertilidad tanto al varón como a la mujer. Tiene una temperatura
o
promedio De 40 C.

Valley of the Sondondo

Constituted by the districts of Andamarca, South Cabana , Aucará, Chipao and
Huaycahuacho, The Valley is formed by the union of the rivers Mayobamba and
Negromayo, surrounded by a beautiful fertile valley with narrow and deep gulches. The
history relates that in this area the columnist Felipe Guamán Poma of Ayala was born;
there are also prehispanic evidences and a biodiversity of attractiveness.

Thermo-medicinal waters of Qeronta

Located at 50 minutes from the dam of Pachaya. It possesses medicinal properties for the
skin, arthritis, as well as it grants fertility as much to the male as to the woman. The

ATRACTIVOS TURÍSTICOS

Laguna de Parinacochas
Significa “laguna de las parihuanas”. Se encuentra al pie del nevado del Sara Sara, y tiene una
altura de 3,273 m.s.n.m. Su extensión aproximada es de 64 km cuadrados, es hábitat temporal
de las parihuanas de colores rojo y blanco, que inspiraron a San Martín para diseñar la bandera
peruana. Una de sus principales características es la salinidad de sus aguas.

Aguas Termo-medicinales
Las aguas termales de Santa Clara y Umacunsuri están ubicadas en Cora Cora, mientras que las de
Senqata están en el distrito de Chumpi; todas son visitadas por sus propiedades curativas.
Umacunsuri es denominada también “La Paila del Diablo” por su alta temperatura que sobrepasa
o
los 40 C, y contiene abundante yodo.

TOURIST ATTRACTIVENESS

Lagoon of Parinacochas
It means "lagoon of the parihuanas" (= flamencos). It is located at the foot of the snowy Sara Sara,
and it has a height of 3,273 m.above sea level. Their approximate extension is of 64 square km, it
is the temporary habitat of the red and white flamenco whose colors inspired San Martin in the
design of the peruvian flag. One of their main characteristics is the salinity of their waters.
