Summary of the Lesson ● This short lesson will

teach students some
basic facts about the
education system in
Switzerland and will also
allow them to compare
our education system to
that of Switzerland. The
lesson will consist of a
Kahoot, a PowerPoint,
and a worksheet.

Materials Required ● Powerpoint

● Powerpoint Worksheet
 ● Phones for Kahoot
● Kahoot
● KWL chart
● Markers
● Poster paper

Objectives Students will be able to:

● Identify basic facts about

the education system in
Switzerland.
● Compare the American
education system to the
education system in
Switzerland.

administrative division of
a country.

Procedure BEFORE:

Anticipatory Set-
 ● Students will complete K
and W portions KWL
chart about Switzerland
and its education system.
Some volunteers will
share their answers with
the class.

Developing Schema:

● A short kahoot will be

completed by students to
assess their prior
knowledge about
Switzerland.

DURING:

Teacher Modeling-

● The teachers will teach a

PowerPoint to the class
on Switzerland.
● Teacher will encourage
students to write down
five things they learned
during the powerpoint.

Checking for Understanding-

● The students will watch a

short video on Swiss
education and answer
two questions that go
along with it. The
students will share their
 answers with the teachers
and discuss them after
the video.

AFTER:

Closure-

● Each half of the

classroom will
collaboratively complete
a venn diagram on the
white board comparing
and contrasting the
education system in
American and the
education system in
Switzerland. After both
groups are done, the two
diagrams will be
compared with each
other in a discussion with
the whole class.
● Once completed with the
venn diagram the
students will complete
another kahoot with
additional questions than
the first one to assess
their understanding.
Differentiation ● Higher level students can
find another country to
compare to Swiss
education.
● Lower level students will
be supplied with a copy of
the PowerPoint to
reference during the
presentation.
