JANE: Which animal do you like, Bill?

BILL: My favorite animal is the elephant. It looks clumsy but it runs (corre) fast.
JANE: It swims (nada), too.
JAIME: What! But the elephant is a very big animal. Does it swim fast?
JANE: I don’t know. But do you know what the elephant does not do?
SUSY: It doesn’t ride a bike! (monta en bicycleta)

JANE: (sonriendo) No, not that. It doesn’t jump (salta).
ALEX: Well, I love the tiger. It runs (corre), jumps, swims and it’s beautiful.
SUSY: But it’s very cruel.
ALEX: What do you mean? (¿Qué quieres decir?)
SUSY: It jumps on other animals and bites (les muerde) their necks and kills (los mata) them, it’s horrible.
BOB: I like snakes.
ALL: (todos) Whaaat?
BOB: Yes, I prefer snakes because they have all kinds of colors.
ALEX: What do you mean, colors?
Well, there are striped snakes, like the rattlesnake. The stripes make you think (pensar) of leopards and tigers. Also there

are plain colored snakes with bright skins and multicolored snakes with many different colors on their body.
SUSY: Yes, but they are so creepy. They scare me. (me asustan)
BOB: No, they’re not creepy, they are gentle and nice. I have a pet boa constrictor at home.
JANE: Do you really have one, Bob?
BOB: Yes, can I bring (traer) it next time?
ALL: Noooo, thanks!

JANE: ¿Qué animal te gusta, Bill?

Bueno, me encanta el tigre. Corre, salta, nada y es hermoso.

SUSY: Pero es muy cruel.

SUSY: Salta sobre otros animales y muerde (les muerde) sus cuellos y mata (los mata), es horrible.

BOB: Me gustan las serpientes.

TODOS: (todos) Whaaat?

BOB: Sí, prefiero las serpientes porque tienen todo tipo de colores.

ALEX: ¿Qué quieres decir con colores?

BOB: Bueno, hay serpientes rayadas, como la serpiente de cascabel. Las rayas te hacen pensar en leopardos y tigres. También hay serpientes de
color claro con pieles brillantes y serpientes multicolores con muchos colores diferentes en su cuerpo.

SUSY: Sí, pero son tan espeluznantes. Me asustan. (Me asustan)

BOB: No, no son espeluznantes, son gentiles y agradables. Tengo una constrictor boa de la mascota en el país.

JANE: ¿De verdad tienes uno, Bob?

BOB: Sí, ¿puedo llevarla (traer) la próxima vez?

TODOS: Noooo, gracias!
JANET: Well we have funds (fondos) for another trip. What do you want to do?

JAIME: I want to go to the arts and science museum.

TIM: Oh, I don’t want to go there again. I want to go to the beach.

JANET: Wait. Let’s go somewhere different. Does anybody have any ideas?
JIMMY: How about the airport (el aeropuerto)?

ALL: The airport?

JIMMY: Yes, why not. There’s an exhibition on there now.

JANET: Really, Jimmy. What’s it about?

JIMMY: 100 years of aviation. They have pictures of planes and movies about flying. There are planes from World War I and II. They have rides in
them. It’s free for kids under 16.

KATHY:You mean free rides in the old airplanes, too?

JIMMY: Yes, but not for everybody, no one under 12 can fly .

JANET: Well what do you think, people? Shall we go? (¿vamos?)

ALL: Yeeessss!

JANET: I want somebody to bring a friend, too.

SALLY: Can I take my dog?

TIM: Give us a break, Sally! (No molestes!).

JANET: Bueno, tenemos fondos para otro viaje. ¿Qué quieres hacer?

JAIME: Quiero ir al museo de las artes y las ciencias.

TIM: Oh, no quiero ir allí de nuevo. Quiero ir a la playa.

TODOS: ¿El aeropuerto?

JIMMY: 100 años de aviación. Tienen fotos de aviones y películas sobre volar. Hay aviones de la Primera Guerra Mundial y II. Tienen paseos en
ellos. Es gratis para niños menores de 16 años.

KATHY: ¿Quieres decir también paseos gratis en los viejos aviones?

JIMMY: Sí, pero no para todos, nadie bajo 12 puede volar.

JANET: Bueno, ¿qué piensas, gente? ¿Nos vamos? Vamos

Dear Gina,
Thank you for your letter and photo. You look very professional. I don’t understand the game of hockey very well. I enjoy playing American
football. Our team is not very good but we have fun, too. In American football a member of the team must (debe) cross the line at the end of
the field with the ball. The quarter-back (the thrower) throws the ball to a player who catches it and runs to the goal line (la línea de meta).
The team must move the ball ten yards (yardas) in four opportunities. If they can’t (no pueden) move the ten yards or more then they must
kick the ball to the other team.
I want to go to Uruguay but I must learn Spanish first. Monica practices her Spanish with someone from Mexico. She enjoys speaking
Spanish and she wants to visit Roberto next year. Her mother says she must save (ahorrar) some money to go to Uruguay. The price of the
airline ticket is expensive, U.S. $850. I don’t know anybody who speaks Spanish but I want to learn it. Here is a picture of my football team. I
am third from the right at the back (atrás).

Gracias por su carta y foto. Te ves muy profesional. No entiendo muy bien el juego del hockey. Me gusta jugar al fútbol americano. Nuestro
equipo no es muy bueno, pero también nos divertimos. En el fútbol americano un miembro del equipo debe (debe) cruzar la línea al final del
campo con la pelota. El quarterback (el lanzador) lanza la pelota a un jugador que la atrapa y corre a la línea de meta (la línea de meta). El equipo
debe mover la bola diez yardas (yardas) en cuatro oportunidades. Si no pueden mover los diez metros o más, deben patear la pelota al otro
equipo.
Quiero ir a Uruguay, pero primero tengo que aprender español. Mónica practica su español con alguien de México. Le gusta hablar español y
quiere visitar a Roberto el próximo año. Su madre dice que debe ahorrar algo de dinero para ir a Uruguay. El precio del billete de avión es caro,
US $ 850. No conozco a nadie que hable español, pero quiero aprenderlo. Aquí está una foto de mi equipo de fútbol. Soy tercero de la derecha
