 Responsible for the day-to-day administration of specific
postgraduate programmes in liaison with the Director of
Research, Postgraduate Studies and Outreach (DiRPO) and
responsible for ensuring that administrative tasks are prioritized
and carried out accordingly, including:

- Facilitate the preparation and updating and distribution of


postgraduate materials including programme handbooks,
module outlines, and teaching resources
- Responsible for maintaining module descriptions and
postgraduate student records in line with University Policy
that the MUST Student Information record system is accurate
and up to date;
- Coordinate student attendance monitoring, liaising with
students, academic staff, as appropriate
- Provide support for the student evaluation process,
coordinate module and programme questionnaires and
review, collate and report results
- Provide support for events such as induction, registration and
graduation
 Assist the DiRPO and provide support for assessment and
examination, including:
-Ensure that marking/moderation of coursework and exams are
completed in a timely fashion, marks are entered accurately on

to MUST Student Information and results are published and
communicated appropriately
- Provide advice on the assessment process to students and
supervisors
- Coordinating arrangements with Internal and External
Examiners
- Communicate with dissertation examiners and handle
dissertation submissions and assessments;

 Serve as a point of contact for staff and postgraduate students


concerning all issues concerning postgraduate teaching;
 Providing information on lecture and tutorial arrangements,
coursework requirements and assessment methods, information
on avoiding plagiarism;
 Ensuring that the programme and the relevant courses are
delivered appropriately and effectively;
 Assisting students in their learning progression and addressing any
academic issues that arise;
 Providing the essential link between postgraduate students and
supervisors and the Postgraduate Office and the Director of
Research, Postgraduate Studies and Outreach, and the University;
 Liaise between students and supervisors, and the Academic
Postgraduate Committee;
 Ensure that postgraduate students, supervisors, the Academic
Postgraduate Committee, and the University Registrar receive all
necessary information and notifications;
 Coordinate student project approval (including appointment of
assessors) and annual assessments in the Directorate;
 Assisting in postgraduate student admissions, enrolment,
processing of assignments, and work alongside to Director of
Research, Postgraduate Studies and Outreach
 Facilitate the appointment of suitable supervisors (workload
issues to be reported to DiRPO);
 Coordinate Postgraduate Research Student supervision in the
Department
 Providing policy guidelines that ensure high levels of
postgraduate research dissemination and value addition;
 Mentoring of and guidance to postgraduate students and
supervisors

PARTICIPATION MIRTDC: Jun 2000 to 2014
IN PROJECTS
Research Project Completed:
A research project titled ‘Dissemination of Institutional Cook
stoves in Malawi’ was carried out. Energy consumption data and
relevant information were collected from households and
institutions, etc. A technical report of this research project was
published. I was actively involved in this research project for
collecting information, testing, analyzing data and report
preparing. I was the principal researcher of the study team for this
project.

Research Project Completed:


A research project titled ‘Design and Development of Kavuzi
Micro Hydropower Plant’ was carried out. Socio-economic
survey of villages surrounding the site was conducted, followed
by hydrological, topographical and geological studies. A feasibility
study of this research project was prepared. I was actively
involved of this research project for collecting information,
analyzing data and report preparing. I designed and installed the
civil and hydro-mechanical structures for this scheme. The research
project was conducted by MIRTDC and sponsored by MEET and
NRCM.

 Design and Assessment of Cross Flow Turbine for use at
Matandani Hydropower Plant
 Design and Performance Evaluation of Automatic Egg

PEW: June 1999-May 2000


Participated in the design and assembly of six (6) rail cars with
technical assistance from Wickham Rail Cars, USA. This project
involved design of the substructure and superstructure,
procurement and engine and transmission systems, general
assembly and electrical installations. I was the lead person for the
project team.
