Fellow Delegates
Over generations, we in Germany have built something extraordinary: a successful multi-faith
democracy. Our country today is more vibrant, buoyant and diverse than ever before in our history.
However, there is still more to be done to defeat Nazism, promote genuine equality of freedom of
expression and build a more cohesive society.
Nazism, and neo-Nazi groups still exist in every country, with their own rules and procedures
They are encouraging vandalism and violence against refugees just for expressing their opinion.
They burn their places, abuse them physically and emotionally. Also, reporters and journalists,
who stand against Nazism, reporting the reality of Nazi groups, are more likely to be attacked by
them. Lives of refugees worsened by lack of information and media, because they don’t know the
language of the nation they live. Therefore, to further strengthen the equality, freedom of
expression, we will work closely to improve the media coverage for refugees all over the world.
Defeating Nazism, the violence against journalists and refugees are not something a country do
alone. We need the help of everyone, including our communities of faith. Our aim is to work in
partnership to isolate the Nazism from everyone else - and to stop them from driving a wedge
between refugees all over the world and the rest of our society. No matter what race we are, we
are all human. We all have a right to freedom of opinion and expression.
If we implement this strategy, if we build the partnership, together we can defeat the Nazism and
build a more cohesive world for generations to come with no fear of expressing their word.
