Telangana State at A Glance 2017

PREFACE
The Economy of Telangana state is closely linked with the

availability of abundant natural resources, providing a comparative
advantage in resource extraction and processing. As such, the
Telangana economy is relatively more capital intensive than that of
other states. In addition, the state is having a strong base in services
sector, such as Real estate, Trade, Education, Health, Finance,
Insurance, construction etc., which, in the recent past have been
accounting for larger share in the economic output of the State.
Noteworthy progress in all the three broad sectors of the economy,
have put the state on a higher growth pedestal. The state has more
potential to grow and show greater promise. The Government is making
all out efforts and introducing various new and innovative policy
initiatives, in order to make the growth inclusive and sustainable.
This publication “Telangana State at a Glance, 2017” of DES,
provides an overview of economic performance of the state, besides
various other parameters like Demography, Agriculture, Health,
Education, Transport, Public distribution etc. The objective of this
publication is to provide the readers a quick reference to latest data on
key parameters.
I put on record, the cooperation extended by various departments
for their prompt and enthusiastic response in furnishing required
information. The committed efforts of the DES officials in compiling
this publication in an appealing manner truly deserve special
commendation.
