1. Is your product standard or non-standard?


A standard product is the product which is there under the permissible guidelines of FSSAI. That is the
percent of the ingredients which is mentioned under FSSAI rules and regulation. These products are
generally consumed products.

A non-standard product is the product which is not mentioned in the FSSAI rules and regulations.
These products require a product approval with the FSSAI and also with the appropriate authorities. As
the product here are not consumed on the daily basis or have a special implementation.

2 .Does your product have health claims?


If your product has a health claim, that is, if you are claiming that your product is good for liver or
heart, you will have to go for Product Approval. As it has given a specific reason or the purpose of your
product on the human body this has to be verified and also tested in an NABL-Accredited lab.

3. Is the product a proprietary product?


If you are claiming a copyright or you are patenting your product you will require to have the product
approval as there will be a unique product which will be under the patent which you have listed down.
Now you being a new market leader in the segment of yours the approval will be mandatory for you.

4. Have you checked the RDA limits of the product?


Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) has been introduced in the Dietary Reference Intake system.
The RDA for a certain vitamin isn't necessarily the optimal amount; it's the amount that will prevent
deficiencies in the majority of people. It's also not the amount of vitamins and mineral you need from
supplements; it's the total amount you need, including what you get from foods. So, when there is any
issue related to nutrients being added or being within the limits or beyond the limit set for it.
5.In which form is your product going to launch in India?
The format of the product that is if the product is in tablet or powder or spray or straw or
any other innovative product form which is not under the permissible limits of FSSR then
the product should get a product approval. As there is a possibility that different formula
which is used for the packing and also for making the form of the product so it makes you
to get a product approval as there is change in the form of consumption.

6. Is your product a blend of food products?


By blend of the product, we mean does your product have a mixture of two or more
products in it, i.e., to get the final product have you mixed two or more raw products? For
eg: Coffee premix has two products that is coffee and powdered milk mixed in it.
