All the assigned texts are texts that constitute the ideas of three key figures in the 1896 Philippine
revolution: Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio and Emilio Jacinto. Discuss among your groupmates the
key themes and/or arguments in each primary source. In a coherent and cohesive essay, answer the
following guide questions:
1. How do these works show the figure’s own ideas on nationalism and revolution?
2. How does each the manner and style of these works to provoke or incite the figure’s own
ideas of revolution? Which work stood out as the work that provokes Filipinos to revolt?
3. Is there a sense of relatedness with all these works? How do all these works relate to each
other, if these are related?
In order to answer this questions, you can use readings, required or suggested, from the syllabus.
Cite all of these readings. If you are using other works from the syllabus, cite them properly as well.
Format:

 Minimum of 3 pages; maximum of 6 pages (A4, Garamond 12, 1.5-line spacing). The file
format must be in .docx format.
 Create a title for your essay. Include all the names of your groupmates after the last
paragraph of your essay.
 Use Chicago in-text citation (Author Year, page no) to make both our lives easier. Include in
your bibliography all primary and secondary sources you used.
