Lesson Plan in Reading and Writing Skills

I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standard
The learner realizes that information in a written text may be selected and organized to achieve a
particular purpose.
B. Performance Standard
The learner critiques a chosen sample of each pattern of development focusing on information selection,
organization and development.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting the New Lesson

“Picture Analysis”
Directions: The teacher will show pictures to the students, they are given five minutes to write their observation
on the following pictures.

1. What can you say about the pictures I’ve shown you?
2. What is the implication of this particular event in our lives today?
B. Establishing a Purpose for the lesson
In this lesson, you will be going to distinguish between and among techniques in selecting and organizing
information: Brainstorming Lists. Given the topic about: “Tikbalang”the learners will generate ideas about the
subject.
C. Presenting Examples/Instances of the new lesson:
The teacher will show a video presentation: “What is Brainstorming”
 Based on the video I’ve shown you, what is Brainstorming?
D. Discussing New Concepts & Practicing New Skills 1
The teacher will show another video presentation on the “Brainstorming Techniques”.
 What are the techniques in Brainstorming ideas?
 How does it help in generating ideas to a specific topic?

The students will be group into 4 groups. Each group will assign a leader, secretary and reporter.
The students will read a story:(Between the Shores by: S hos hanaA kabas )
Nicoya and Daniel are born in the same hospital in Jerusalem on the same date. At 2 a.m., their fathers
exchange smiles in the nursery. When Nicoya is three months old, her mother takes her on a bus to the assisted
living home where Nicoya’s grandmother lives. In the back of the same bus, Daniel sleeps against his mother’s
chest for two stops before he is carried off the bus and down the street and into his home, eyes peacefully closed
all the while. […]
 What is the title of the story?
 If you will be given a chance to make the ending the story, what would it be and why?
 Why do you choose that type of ending?
