Rubber band

Paper sheet

Jar

Additional:

 Plastic rod
 Knife
 Chopping board
Ingredients:

Apples Sugar

Yeast

Additional:
 Distilled water

Procedures:

1. Sterilize glass jar very well by submerging it to boiling water and let air dry.
2. On the glass jars, create sugar water by mixing distilled water and a tablespoon of
sugar per apple. This set-up has 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 pcs apples. Stir it well by using a
plastic or wooden rod. Avoid using metallic materials when making any types of
vinegar.

3. Add a teaspoon of yeast in one of the jars and stir thoroughly.

4. Slice apples in small cube sizes and remove its stem and seeds.

5. Place sliced apples in the jar. In this set-up we put 2 apples per jar.
6. Add additional water if needed to make sure the apples is covered.

7. Push down the apples to sink it to the bottom using the plastic rod.

8. Cover the jars with paper sheets and place rubber bands to hold it in place; this makes
the excess carbon dioxide from fermentation to escape. Having a tight lid would make
the set-up explode. Top it with plastic sheets so that flies won’t spoil it and won’t dry
up from evaporation, then again place some rubber bands.

9. Store it in a place at room temperature. This set-up was placed on the kitchen cabinet.
10. Leave it for approximately 3-4 weeks. Warm season would make fermentation faster.
Check on it every few days to make sure the apples are staying under the water and to
make sure no mold is growing.

11. When the apple cider vinegar has reached the "tartness" you like, strain the apples
pieces out and return the liquid to the jar, you can put a lid on it or transfer it to a
different jar with a lid and start using it.

Type of fermentation: Alcoholic Fermentation
