UAAP 2019: UE Pep Squad finishes 5th with the reggae feels

MANILA – Red and White and Hype… #EastReggaeTime. The University of the East Pep Squad put on a
dazzling routine from start to finish and placed fifth overall in the UAAP Season 82 Cheerdance Competition
held last November 17, 2019 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Recto-based cheerdancers, who showcased a Filipino Reggae theme incorporated hits by OPM artists such
as the band Tropical Depression, did not disappoint the crowd with their pyramid formations, smooth transition
of tosses, and on point dance grooving reggae Filipino music that garnered a total score of 645 points, only five
points away from the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe who earned 650 points finishing fourth in this season.

UE Pep Squad came in fifth for the third time after it skipped the competition in 2016.

The UE Pep Squad also earned good scores this year in terms of individual criterion, finishing fourth place in
stunts with 71 points, third in tumbling with 82.5 points, third in tosses with 86.5 points, sixth in the pyramids
with 84.5 points, and also 6th in dance categories with 329.5 points.

The UE Pep Squad got a nine points deduction for their technical violations as stated in the criteria of judging.

Apart from these scores, The UE Pep Squad ranks fourth in the Group Stunts Category with having 184 points.

The Recto-based cheerdancers continue to leveled up in the past years with even finishing third place in the
podium in 2017.

The University of the East, Manila is one of the biggest private universities in the Philippines that offers courses in Medicine, Law,
Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science and Business Administration, among others.
