Impact of outdoor teaching Science on student’s creativity.

Background of the study:

The idea of outdoor activities appear in 1941 outdoor activities can be carried out in many

environment that enhance the student’s learning in this study, outdoor activities field trips,

journey to explore new things by their own. Out of the classroom student learn more instead of

traditional method.

Outdoor activities were usually tangled thoroughly to the school curriculum in the field has

modified to 21st century modification affecting the broader educational field. There is as positive

relationship between society and personal development.

Pakistan a developing country, due to lack of resources and awareness of teacher about teaching

these subjects the teacher just focus on the content knowledge rather than the practical work

which is effective for both teacher and student.

The world modernization with the high development of sophisticated information

Technology and communication device is strongly giving the negative impact to the adolescents

mostly for the students due to the existence of smart phones and many more gadgets. This

Sophistication was confiscates the quality time for these adolescents to get active by

participating in sports and recreation and at the same time destroys their healthy lifestyle

According to Franklin and Hardin (2008), many students need a campus recreation program and

the information should be delivered to the students. Due to the lack of academic study

conducted in outdoor recreation for the higher private institution in Malaysia, the researcher

hope that the findings of this research are able to get a new figure about the outdoor
recreation involvement for higher private institution especially for the private university

students in the city campus

According to Poff, Stanger, and Stuessy (2005), outdoor recreation programs are the main

priority in conducting the orientation program for the students in the University and more than

400 outdoor recreation activities have been conducted in all Universities in United States.

Nevertheless, different situation is seen in Malaysia, the level of exposure in outdoor recreation

is still low even at University level (Yahya, Maruthaveeran, 2012). The outdoor recreation

research in Malaysia only conducted at few higher public Universities, and for the higher

private Universities the research was still very limited.

Problem Statement:

Science is the subject which we learn from our surroundings and it is the only subject which we

learn through interesting activities but the teacher uses the traditional method so the student feels

difficulty in learning science and I have seen this problem during my teaching Practicum that the

teacher just use context to teach science instead of interactive activities which are effective for

both students and teachers. The teacher make the interesting topic boring through traditional

method the teacher should use different teaching methods for teaching science i.e. demonstration

method, inquiry method, project method. The effective way to teach science is to relate it with

our surrounding through outdoor activities for making it interesting and purposeful. The

researcher decides to conduct outdoor activities to learn and teach science effectively.

Purpose Statement:

At the age of 7-10, the students are curious about the things they starts exploring things at this

age and it is a perfect age to teach something because it’s an age of long-lasting learning.

Science is the only subject that a student can learn through exploration and observations. The
purpose of this is to generate creativity and interest in the students about science topics and tell

to other that how will you make the topic interesting and creative by using natural resources. For

this purpose in will conduct activities like names of plant activity, shape of leaves activity, color

of flowers these all activities, painting activity through leaves etc. will generate interest in

students

Research Question:

1: How will you make science subject interesting?

2: What is outdoor teaching?

3: Does outdoor activities create effective results than traditional method?

4: How will you measure the student’s creativity?

Hypothesis:

Associative Hypothesis:

There is a positive effect on student creativity by using outdoor activities.

Null Hypothesis:

There is a no effect on student creativity through outdoor activities.

Alternative Hypothesis:

Student who learn through outdoor activities will be more creative than the student who learn

from traditional method.

Operational Definition:

Outdoor teaching:

The teaching out from the classroom scenario in which student learn through observations and plays an

active role. The outdoor teaching activates the interest, creativity and curiosity in students.
Delimitation:

 Outdoor teaching take more time than indoor teaching.

 More management is requires for outdoor teaching

 The responsibilities of teacher become increase

Rationale:

Outdoor teaching is another creative of teaching science at every level. I think it’s very important

at this primary level because at this level child want to explore new things.

Population:

The targeted population of my study is students of grade 3 from government school Rawalpindi.

Sampling:

30 students of grade 3 are taken for sampling.

Sampling technique:

Simple random sampling technique will be use in my study.

Significance of study:

At the age of 7-10the children curious about the things and want to explore new things by their

own. Outdoor teaching is very important to generate the interest, creativity in the student and

explore new things which are helpful in the learning of student and their level of interest

increases through outdoor teaching than traditional way of teaching. Outdoor teaching has a

long-lasting effect on student’s learning. Different student of same class has different learning

styles some student learn through observation some through listening and some through both

abilities.
