Don't ask for repayment of favours

Ehsaano ka badla talab na karo
Qur'an 76:9

We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks:

हम /सफ़1 अ3लाह क4 मज़6 क4 ख़ा8तर त:

ु ह; <खलाते ह? और ना तम
ु से कोई बदला
चाहते ह? ना शDु Eया

Hum sirf Allah s.w.t ki marzi ki khatir tumhein khilaate hain aur na
tumse koi badla chahte hain na shukriya

Surah Dahr (76), Ayat No 9

Tafseer: Imam Ali (AS), Bibi Fatimah (AS), Imam Hasan (AS), Husayn (AS) and Bibi
Fizza fasted three successive days and gave their food each day to a different
person who came at the time of breaking the fast and knocked at the door. All of
them used water to break their fasts and went to sleep without food. This was said
by the Ahlulbayt (AS) to comfort the recipients, and to reassure them that their
donation will not be followed by any humiliation or abuse. For this benevolence,
Allah s.w.t admires them since HE s.w.t is well aware of the sincere orientation and
the exclusive concentration of their hearts on Him.

Imam Ali (AS), Bibi Fatimah (AS), Imam Hasan (AS), Hussain (AS) aur Bibi Fizza ne
teen dino tak lagataar rozey rakhe jis mein har roz iftaar ke waqt saeel aaye aur
khana talab kiya. ALLAH s.w.t. ke in mukhlis bandon ne teen din apna khana saeelon
Aayat in lafzon ki adaaigi hai jo Ahlebait
deta hai jo purey ikhlaas ke saath anjaam diya jaye.
Imam Ali (a.s) said: “I do not see anything except God, before it, after it and with it.”

Imam as-Sadiq (a.s) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, God will group the people
according to the intentions they have.

Imam Ali a.s ne farmaaya: “Mai kuch nahi dekhta siwaaya Allah s.w.t k, Uske aage
aur Uske peeche”

Imam as-Sadiq (a.s) ne farmaaya: “Roz e Mehshar, Allah s.w.t logo ko unki niyat
hisaab se jama karega”

Restrain your anger

Apne ghussey par qabu rakho

Qur'an 3:134
Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger
and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good;

Surah Aal-E-Imran (3), Ayat No 134

Tafseer: Repressors of rage are those who refrain from giving vent to their wrath
while they have the power to inflict harm, and pardoners of men are those who
refrain from punishing when they have a right as well as capability to punish.

Ghusse par qaabu rakhne wale woh log hote hain jo nuksaan pahoncha ne ka
ikhtiyaar rakhte hain lekin phir bhi apne ghusse ko pi jate hain aur maaf karne wale
woh hote hain jo saza dene ka haqq aur taaqat dono rakhte hain lekin phir bhi maaf
karne ka rasta chunte hain.
RasoolAllah s.a.w.w has said: “Anyone who suppresses an anger which could be
brought into operation and is patient, Allah s.w.t will give him the reward of a
martyr.”

jata hai aur sabr ikhtiyaar karta hai, Allah s.w.t usko ek shaheed ka sawaab ata karta
hai."

He (s.a.w.w) also said: “Anyone who suppresses his anger, Allah s.w.t will add to his
honour and authority in this world and the world to come.”

RasoolAllah s.a.w.w ne ye bhi kaha: "Jo koi bhi apne ghusse par qaabu karta hai,
Allah s.w.t uski izzat aur iqtidaar ko iss duniya aur aakhirat mein buland karega hai."

Always be thankful to Allah s.w.t

Hamesha Allah s.w.t ka shukr ada karo

Qurʼan: 2:152

Therefore remember Me, I will remember you, and be thankful to Me, and do not
be ungrateful to Me.

Surah Baqarah (2), Ayat No 152

Tafseer: If we remember Allah s.w.t, avoiding other than He, we are in the midst of
reality. Allah s.w.t, reality, will reflect the remembrance - if the sincere seeker
remembers Allah s.w.t, Allah s.w.t remembers him. It is easy to be thankful when
one has got an easy life, a prospering business, a respectful job and a happy family.
It is a different story when things are not going as desired. Most of us, in such
situations, remain obsessed with sorrow, forgetting countless bounties of God
which we are bestowed with, even at the time of the tragedy. Perhaps it is this
tendency which is mentioned in the Qur’an in these words: “And few amongst my
servants are grateful”. (Qur'an 34,13)!

Man is such a lowly and helpless creature that he cannot even breathe without the
permission of his Lord Almighty. Imagine our condition if there was no air and we
had unhealthy lungs, thus preventing us from breathing.

qurbat ka mushtaaq hota hai uska Khaaliq usko zaroor jawaab deta hai. Lekin zindgi
ki asaisho mein Khuda ka shukr karna aasaan hai aur mushkilo mein shukr karte
rehna utna hi mushkil. Jab bhi hum par koi mushkil aati hai to hum fauran apne
shukrguzaar hain" (Qur'an 34,13)!

Insaan itna haqeer aur majboor hai ki bina apne Khaaliq k marzi ko vo saas tak nahi
le sakta, kyuki ye tafakkur ka maqaam hai ki agar ye hawa naa hoti aur hamare
lungs sehatmand na hote to hum kaise saans lete. Hum apni har saans ke liye uske
makrooz hai.

We are, indeed, indebted to our Allah s.w.t for breath that we take, as Imam Sajjad
(a.s) has said:

"O Allah s.w.t, I seek your forgiveness for not thanking you enough, since even my
single thanks calls for another thanks, as your gave me the capacity, the breath, the
taufeeq to thank you."

Tabhi Imam Sajjad ne kaha hai:

"Aye mere Allah s.w.t, main teri panaah chaahta hu ki main teri nehmato ka haqq
ada nahi kar paaya, kyuki agar tera ek shukr karunga to fauran doosra shukr laazmi
ho jaayega kyuki tune mujhe taaqat, saans aur taufeeq di hai ki main tera shukr ada
kar paaya."
Don't envy others
Auron se hasad na karen

Qur'an 4:54

“Do they envy people for what God hath given them of His bounty”?

Surah Nisa (4), Ayat No 54

Tafseer: Envy is the third basic evil; and itself is a product of pride, greed and anger.
It is the most foolish of all evils. It has no immediate or long-term benefit, no
comfort, and no sweetness. On the contrary, an envious man burns his own heart,
wastes his own time thinking why God has given such bounties to him/her and not
me.

Envy ruined Shaitan when he began burning his heart on the status of Hazrat Adam
(AS). It destroyed Qabil when he became envious of his own younger brother Habil.
Therefore, the RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) has said: “Envy eats away the good deeds as
fire eats away the wood”.

Hasad teesri buniyaadi nafsi beemari (buraai) hai jo takabbur, laalach aur ghusse se
paida hoti hai.
faayda hai, naa hi isse koi aaram haasil hota hai aur naa hi koi maza. Darhaqeeat,
hasad karnewaala insaan khud apne dil ko jalata hai iss baat ka afsos karte hue ki
usko jo mila vo mujhe naa mila.

Hasad ne hi Shaitan ko Hazrat Adam (AS) ke muqaable Ehsaas-E-kamtari mein

mubtala kiya aur usko hamesha ke liye jahannum ki aag ka indhan bana diya. Aur
yahi hasad hai ki jo Qabil ki tabahi ka sabab bana. Isliye RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) ne
farmaaya: "Hasad insaan ke neki ko aise khaa jaati hai jaise ki sookhi lakdi ko aag."

Khair hai.

Surah Al-Isra (17), Ayat No 79

Tafseer: Tahajjud is a prayer prayed after midnight but before dawn. Although
tahajjud is an optional prayer, but it is considered "nearest to obligatory (wajib)
prayer." The verse says “maybe” but when the nominative of this verb is Allah, it
becomes a certainty; so, who perform night prayers with ikhlaas (and not to show
to people that I wake up at 4 am for prayers) Allah s.w.t has promised a very high
station whose reward is not known, because Allah s.wt has said: “So no soul knows
what is hidden for them of that which will refresh the eyes; a reward for what they
did”.(Qur’an 32:17). Almighty Allah has not specified its reward due to its greatness
with Him.
Ayat
mein Allah s.w.t ne Lafz-e-Shayad ka intikhaab kiya hai. Lekin kyun ki Allah s.w.t
khud keh raha hai: isliye koi shaq nahi ki yaha, shayad mein bhi yaqeen posheeda
hai. To agar koi shaqs tahajjud poore ikhlaas ke saath pade (aur naa dusron ko
(Qur’an 32:17). Allah s.w.t ne
batata hi nahi hai ki Namaz –E-Shab padhne ka kitna sawaab milega.

RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) said, ‘Every single servant who makes up his mind to wake up
at a particular time in the night [to pray] but stays asleep, his sleep is considered
charity that Allah accepts on his behalf, and the same reward for that which he
intended is written down for him.’

mein uthar tahajjud padhega lekin vo sota reh jaaye to uski neend ek sadqa maani
jayegi jo Allah s.w.t ki baargaah mein qubool hogi aur usko wahi sawaab milega jo
tahujjud padhne par milta.”

A great Aarif Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Agha al-Qadi, who was the teacher of Imam
Khomeini r.a and the great Aarif of our times Ayatullah al Uzma Behjat, said to
Allama Tabatabai: “O son! If you want this world then pray the Night Prayer
(Namaze Shab/Salatul Layl), and if you want the Hereafter then pray the Night
Prayer.”

Ek buland paaya Aarif Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Agha al-Qadi, jo Imam Khomeini r.a aur
hamare waqt k bahut aala darje k Aarif Ayatullah al Uzma Behjat, k Ustaad e
mohtaram they, Allama Tabatabai se kehte they:

“Aye bete, agar tumhe ye duniya chahiye to namaz e shab padho, aur agar aakhirat
chahiye to namaz e shab padho.”
Don't spread gossip
Tohmat aur badgumaani na failayein

Qur'an 24:15

When you received it with your tongues and spoke with your mouths, what you had
no knowledge of, and you deemed it an easy matter while with Allah it was
grievous.

Jab tum apni zubaan se charcha kar rahe they aur apne mooh se woh baat nikaal
rahey they jiska tumhe ilm bhi nahin tha aur tum isey bahot mamuli baat samajh
rahey they haalanki ALLAH ki nazdeeq (qareeb) woh bahot badi baat thi.

Surah Nur (24), Ayat No 15

Tafseer: Gossiping is one of the worst actions which is severely prohibited in Islam.
It sometimes causes social conflict and disorder among people. People may think it
is an insignificant matter to speak lightly of something which damages a person's
character or reputation, but with ALLAH it is a most serious matter in all cases,
particularly when it involves the honour and reputation of pious men and women.

Logon ke baarey me kahaaniya garhne waali aadat ko Islam bahut mazammat karta
hai, kyuki isse muashre mein tasadum aur aapsi ranjishein panapti hain. Log
badgumaani ko asaan samajh te hain lekin Nazr-e-Elaahi mein yeh ek sangeen masla
hai khaaskar jab kisi momin ya momina ki hurmat aur kirdaar par ungli uthai jaaye.

RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) said to his companions: “Shall I not inform you of the worst
among you?”
They said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.”

He said: “Those who go to and fro bearing tales, who cause separation between
friends and who seek deficiencies in those who are sound.” He (S) also said: “The
talebearer will not be relieved from the punishment of Allah in the hereafter.”

badtareen kaun hai?.

Unhone kaha: "Ji, RasoolAllah"

RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) boley: "Jo idhar udhar kahaaniya gharte phirte hain, jissey
doston mein aapsi ranjish paida hoti hain aur jo momino mein kamiya talaash karte
hain, kahaaniya gharne waale aakhirat mein ALLAH s.w.t ke aazaab se nijaat haasil
nahi kar payenge."

Walk humbly on earth

Zameen par aahistegi se chalo

Qur'an 25:63

And the servants of the Beneficent Allah are they who walk on the earth in
humbleness, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.

chate hain aur jab jaahil inse khitaab kartey hain toh ALLAH ke bandey unhe
salaamati ka paigham dete hain.

Surah Furqan (25), Ayat No 63

Tafseer: Even the aggressive attitude during the exchange of views should not be
countered with harshness. The gracious servants of Allah say on such occasions:
"Peace".

Yahatak ki khayalaat ke tabadley ke dauran jaarhaniya ravayya bhi sakhti ke

muqabley nahin kiya jana chahiye. ALLAH s.w.t ke mukhlis bande aise mawqo par
kehte hain- “Salamati” ya “Salamat raho”.

RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) said: “Indeed, humility increases the dignity of one endowed
with it. Be humble, and Allah s.w.t will exalt you.”

RassolAllah (s.a.w.w) ne kaha: “Beshak, shaistagi waqar mein izafa karti hai. Toh
shaistagi ke saath raho, aur Allah subhana Ta’ala aap ko sarfaraz karey ga”

Imam Ali Ibn Abutalib (a.s) has said: Humbleness is the beauty of noble men

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s): “There are two angels in heavens who watch the slaves of
Allah s.w.t. Whoever acts humbly for the sake of Allah s.w.t, they raise their ranks
and honor, whoever act arrogantly, and they humiliate him”

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s): Jannat mein do farishtey hain jo Allah s.w.t ke bandon par
nazar rakkhe hue hain. Jo shaqs Allah s.w.t ki khaatir shastagi ke saath kaam karte
hain, woh unke darjaat aur izzat ko buland karte hai aur jo bhi takabbur karte hain,
to ye farishte aise logo ki tazleel karte hain.

True charity

Asli sadaqat kya hai?

Qur'an 2:271
If you disclose acts of charity, even so it is well, but if you conceal them, and make
them reach those really in need, that is best for you. It will remove from you some
of your (stains of) evil"

Agar tum sadqe (khairaat) ko alal ailaan (khuley aam) kar ke do toh yeh bhi theek
hai aur agar chhipa kar do gey oh yeh (tumhare haq mein) bahot behtar hai aur iske
zariye tumhare bahot se gunaah maaf ho jayenge aur khuda tumhare aamaal se
khoob baakhabr (waqif) hai.

Surah Baqarah (2), Ayat No 271

Tafseer: Charity is no just doling out some cash or material to a needy person. It
involves far deeper feeling and far more subtle psychological attitude. Sincerity of
purpose is the soul of charity. Unfortunately, charity has become one of the most
misunderstood virtues in our time. How many times do we see an advertisement
for a charitable cause which ends with line “space kindly donated by M/s. xyz”?
According to Islam, a charity must be only for the sake of God, without any shade of
worldly motive. Islam condemns “those who spend their wealth to show to the
people” (Qur’an, 2:264)!

dena nahi hai. Niyat mein ikhlaas hi sadaqat ka markaz hai. Badkismati se sadaqat
sabse zyada galat samjhi jaanewali neki hai. Kitni baar hume kisi kaar e khair mein
ye advertisment dekha hai jisme likha hota hai "Ye jageh fala fala ne taawun ki hai"?

Islam mein har amal ka markaz sirf "qurbatan ilal lah" hai aur koi nafsi fawaid haasil
karna ya apne naam ko aage karna nahi hai. Deen e Islam unki kadi mazammat
karta hai "jo apna maal mahez duniya ko dikhaane k liye sirf karte hain" (Qur’an,
2:264)!

Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (a.s) says: "Hidden charity appeases the wrath of Allah, does
away with the sins as the water puts out the fire, and keeps away several
misfortunes."
Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (a.s) kehte hain: "Posheeda khairaat Allah s.w.t ko khush karti
hai."

Don't be rude to parents

Qur'an 17:23

And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and

aur unhe jhidakna bhi nahi aur unse hamesha shareefaana guftugu karte rehna.

Surah Al-Isra (17), Ayat No 23

Tafseer: Allah s.w.t has commanded us to honour our parents, be kind to them and
show humility before them. This command is bracketed with the command to
worship the one true Allah s.w.t. Our spiritual advancement is tested by our
behaviour towards our parents. We cannot expect Allah's s.w.t forgiveness if we are
rude to those who brought us up.
samne narmi ka mazahira karne ka hukum diya hai. Is hukum ki pabandi uss sachhey
ALAH ki ibadat karne ke hukum ke saath ki gayi hai.Humari rohani peshrafat humare

ki tawaqqo nahin kar sakte hain agar hum un logon ke saath adawat karenge
jinhone hume pala hai.

Imam as-Sadiq (a.s) said: “If Allah s.w.t had known something more trivial than
‘ugh’, He s.w.t would have used it in warning against filial impiety. To look at
parents sharply is a sort of impiety to them.”

Keep your oaths

Apni qasamon ka tahaffuz karo

Qur'an 5:89

Allah s.w.t will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths,
but HE will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So
its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you
feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever
cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the
expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths. Thus does Allah
make clear to you His verses that you may be grateful.

Surah Al Maida (5), Ayat No 89

Tafseer: To swear to do what is forbidden or not to do what is obligatory is

condemnable. To swear to do or not to do that which is optional in shariah is a
binding oath. Also to swear to do that which is commendable or not to do that
which is not honourable is a binding oath.

Haraam cheezon ko anjaam dena ya wajibaat naa karne ke liye qasmein khaana
qaabil-e-mazammat hai.
khaana shariyatan ek wajib qasam ban jaati hai. Isi tarha mustahab cheezon ko
karne ke liye ya be'azmat cheezon ko na karne ke liye qasam khaana bhi waajib
qasam mein shumaar hain.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) and Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s.) said: “There are
three things in which Allah s.w.t does not give any permission to anybody to
disregard them; trustworthiness to the good and to the bad, keeping covenants for
the good and the bad, and doing good to parents whether they are good or bad.”

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) aur Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s.) ne farmaaya: "Allah
neki karna."

gheebat (burai) bhi na karo. Kya tum mein se koi is baat ko pasand karega ki apne
murda bhai ka gosht khay?

Surah Al-Hujuraat (49), Ayat No 12

Tafseer: Spying into other people's affairs means either idle curiosity or suspicion
carried a stage further. Backbiting, being futile, is mischievous, and if poisoned with
malice, it is a sin added to sin. It is like eating flesh of a dead brother, abomination
plus abomination.

Dusro ke muaamlaat mein jasoosi karne ka matlab bekaar tajassus (utsukta) aur
shak-o-shuba to darja aage le jaana hai. Gheebat karna, bekaar baithna, fisaad ki jad
hai aur agar isme bugz o adawat milady jaaye to toh ye gunah mein gunaah shaamil
karna hai. Ye aisa hai jaise apne hi murda bhai ka gosht khanay jaisa.
RasoolAllah (s.a.w.w) said: "Backbiting is worse than adultery, because Allah may
forgive an adulterer or adulteress if he or she turns repentant to Him, but pardon
for backbiting is not available until the aggrieved person agrees to forgive."

hadaf bana ho”

Imam Musa Kazim (a.s) said: "Anything evil said about anyone, when he is not
present, to the people who do not know it, is backbiting."
