Resumen

El siguiente escrito busca definir y contextualizar al lector sobre la función, los objetivos de
la profesión, deberes así como responsabilidades que son adquiridas por un ingeniero civil a
la hora de ejercer su profesión explícitamente en el tema de la sismo resistencia teniendo en
cuenta que el objetivo principal es evitar la pérdida de vidas humanas. Se analiza la
normativa de diseño de las estructuras en su aspecto general así como en aspectos
específicos planteando cuadros comparativos entre tres parámetros fundamentales
(Sistemas estructurales, coeficiente de importancia, método de análisis) a la hora de
efectuar el diseño de un proyecto a nivel latinoamericano. Se tomaron tres países: México
(Norma técnica complementaria), Chile (NCh 433), Colombia (Nsr 10) como ejes de
referencia estudiando la normatividad de cada una de estas naciones para hacer el estudio
de las diferencias existentes entre las unidades dadas por cada una de ellas en los
parámetros establecidos a comparar y por ultimo generando una opinión de los autores
sobre cada uno de ellos.

Summary

The following paper seeks to define and contextualize the reader about the function, objectives of
the profession, duties as well as the responsibilities that are acquired by a civil engineer when
exercising his profession explicitly on the issue of earthquake resistance taking into account The
main objective is to prevent the loss of human lives. The design regulations of the structures are
analyzed in their general aspect as well as in specific aspects, presenting comparative tables
between three fundamental parameters (Structural systems, importance coefficient, method of
analysis) when determining the design of a project at Latin American level . Three countries were
taken: Mexico (Complementary Technical Standard), Chile (NCh 433), Colombia (Nsr 10) as
reference axes studying the regulations of each of these nations to study the differences between
the units given by each of them in the established parameters to compare and finally generating
an opinion of the authors on each one of them.
