This study examined the effect of games on vocabulary learning in 9th grade students at a public school in Sincelejo, Colombia. The researcher conducted an exploratory action research study with 33 9th grade students who had 4 hours of English class per week. Surveys, observations, journals, and pre-post vocabulary quizzes were used to explore what types of games best support vocabulary learning and to identify any changes in students' English vocabulary and oral abilities. The findings suggested that games are an effective tool to teach vocabulary to young learners and improve their language skills.
