 CHAPTER I

Introduction

A DepEd opened a 2 years course which is called Tech-Voc. It modified the

students to easily find a job after they graduate in the senior high. Millennial

nowadays are thinking about for the easy money strategies. One of the program

that is under Tech-Voc is Home Economics and commonly known as

Housekeeping. This strand helps every students in developing their skills not only

for physical but also it develops their social interaction. In this strand you are

going to develop your people skill and the way on how will you going to interact

with others. As a student of a housekeeping many of them will have their own

realization after they choose the housekeeping track.

Housekeeping is a course or what we called Tech-Voc. Thisstrand is commonly

recognize but thisis a kind of course perform by skills. This strand is commonly

work at the business place like hotel but not only in hotel but you can perform this

in your perspective homes. This is the way that you can get some opportunity to

find a better and nice job.This kind of course is the one of the most important and

needed in everyone in our country. Especially on this job you can perform this in

your home place. As a student important of housekeeping is to help that can

easily find a job. Housekeeping is a kind of job that so many puposes to our lives

just like cleaning in our home place.

In choosing a track is a very significance to everyone. During senior high school

many students have the difficulties in finding a track or strand that will fit their

capacity. However, we should be practical enough in dealing within it. In the most

cases students normally choose academic track rather than choosing a

vocational. Its because they believe that it will easily find them to be more

productive on going to college.

As a student choosing a track is one of the most hardest in being a senior high.

Choosing a housekeeping track is easy but the most hardest part is when you

realize that being a housekeeping student is not easy. The most important is you

should have a learning skills and strength. The one who realize that why students

choose housekeeping track it because of they can easily get a job and can learn

more skills. One of the main reasonof the students to realize of choosing

housekeeping track because of their own perspective reason. Millennial

nowadays reason of the realization of choosing their perspective track is they

realize of their future and for their future job. One of the main reason that they

choose housekeeping track is they want to help the needs of their parents. This

kind of track is not what like think its more on skills that you can adopt to

yourselfs. This track is help you to better future and get a nice job.
This study will look on the realization of the housekeeping students after they

choose housekeeping track. This study aimed to determine the importance of the

realization of the housekeeping students after they choose the housekeeping

track. The factors that motivates them to choose housekeeping track. This

research will answer the following question #1 the indicators are the parents,

friends, classmates, employability, indemand.In the question #2are their

realization after choosing housekeeping track in senior high students.

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to determine the importance of the realization of the

housekeeping students after they choose the housekeeping track.

It aimed to answer the following question:

1.What are the factors that motivates them to choose Housekeeping Track?

Parents

Friends

Classmates

Employability

Indemand

2. What are their realization after choosing the Housekeeping Track?

Significance of the Study

This study will help the following:

Government It will help them to identify what are the main factors that affects

the students in senior high in choosing a track that fit their capacity. and those

the economic arguments for the government support if innovation generally imply

that government should focus particularly on fostering basic, or foundational.

research . the most applied and commercially relevant research is likely to be

done in any case by the private sector, as private firms have strong incentives to

determine what are the market demands and to meet needs

Parents To understand the situation of their child why they choose this instead

of choosing an academic. research also indicates that when students feel

supported and loved by their parents, they have more confidence in their own

ability to research career and to choose a career that would be interesting and

exciting . this is important because studies show that adolescent who feel

competent regarding career decision making , tend to make more satisfying

career choices later in life.

Teachers It will help to dictate to students what to do what course to take or

what career pursue after college school. their role is to guide students in making

the right decision with regards to career plans based on their abilities. Teachers

are in best position to provide career development counseling to student. In their

day to day contact with students in the school, they opportunity to observe.
career development is a lifelong process , teachers should make students realize

there are many factors to consider in career development .

Guidance Councilor There are a lot of opportunity that are presented about

choosing tracks specific strands or course that a student will pursue agter their

college life. It will helps students and they can help the housekeeping track

because in this track they can work immediately when you graduate here or if

you pass the exam you entered the tech voc track. And they can influence every

student take track that is in their own decisions and they can guide every student

who entered in k12 programs which is the guidance councilor will guide every

student.

Student It will be a big help to them in finding a right track for them in senior

high specially for the upcoming senior high. There are some issues or situations

that they cannot figure thier own. Whether the student or a parent of an incoming

SHS, finding the perfect fit or the right track could sometimes be a bit difficult. In

case you find yourself confused on things regarding the whole SHS thing, the

best thing to do is ask for advice or suggestions. Don’t afraid to ask questions

from other people, as it is always better to know what to do, than do something

without knowing anything about it.

Researcher This study will provide information for the researchers to

determine and hear the opinion of the students who is under the. And most think

the problem of those student who enter the housekeeping track like Some

expenses might be too prohibitive for some students and their families, that they

would choose to just pass up on certain activities or projects in consideration to

their household budget. When choosing a track, it is also important to carefully

asses the other expenses that you have to prepare for aside from the regular

fees. It does not hurt to ask the school of additional expenses and possible

events or activities that you will have to pay for. Knowing whether the estimated

expenses can be covered by your budget will help a lot in deciding whether or

not to pursue a track at a certain school or go for other possible options.

Scope and Delimitation

This study covers the realization of the housekeeping students after they

choosing the housekeeping track. The study coverage was for the students of

Dadiangas North Senior High School particularly in Grade 11-

Housekeeping\Hilton about their realization after choosing the said track.

Definition of Terms

Realization- According to Merriam Webster , it is the state of understanding or

becoming aware of something. In this study, it is the understanding of

housekeeping students after choosing Housekeeping track.

Housekeeping - According to Merriam Webster , it is the work that is done in

house and etc such as( hotel,pensionhouse,condo,suites) that must done

regularly to keep something clean.In this study, it is the work by cleaning a house

that done by the housekeeper or housemaid.

Student-According to the dictionary it mean as a person who is studying at a

school or college. Students can be children, teenagers, or adults who are going

to school, but it may also be other people who are learning, such as in college or

university. A younger student is often called a pupil. Usually, students will learn

from a teacher or a lecturer if at university. They also do much reading. In this

study it refers to the person who study and who is being interviewed.

Housekeeping Student- According to research it simply define as the people

who studied housekeeping track. In our research this was define as the grade 12

students who is being interviewed regardless on what are their realization after

choosing the track.

Choosing- According to Merriam Webster is to pick out or select and also to

decide that particular person or thing is the one that you want.In this study, it is

your choice to decide what you want to learn or to achieve in you life.

Housekeeping Track-According to wikipedia, it is suitable for anyone who

wants to gain extensive knowledge, potential experience, and professional skills

in the related field. In this study , it can help the student that choose a

housekeeping because it can help them to be more experience and skill.

Parent-According to Merriam Webster , it is a person who is a father or a mother

who was a child.In this study, it is a person that guide their children to a better

person.
Friends-According to Merriam Webster it is a person who help or support or

something. In this study, it is a person to support someone who had a

problem,someone to share their problem,someone that support you everytime.

Classmate-According to Merriam Webster , it is a member of the same class in

school. In this study , it is a group of people who study in same class or same

course.

Employability-According to Merriam Webster, it is being capable of being

employed. In this study, it is a person to capable to employed to the company.

Indemand-According to Merriam Webster it is a forceful statement in which you

say that something must bedone or given to you. In this study it is a statement

that undone to say to someone.

 Chapter 2

Review of Related Literature

This chapter presents the literature relevant to the concept of the present study.

It also analyses some studies and materials from the Internet to provide sufficient

background and information essential for the accomplishment of this study. It

sought to collect claims of previous studies about realization of the housekeeping

students after choosing the Housekeeping Track.

FOREIGN LITERATURE
LOCAL LITERATURE

According to Education Secretary Leonor M. Briones, the CGP will assist Grade

10 students make unique choices regarding their preferred SHS track. Each

SHS student must choose one track to master, and base his or her choice on

how he or she wants to advance after completing high school, or Grade 12.

Career-assessment and aptitude tests and an occupational-interest inventory, on

the other hand, will show the student’s strengths and interests. Career-advocacy

programs will also help and guide students in choosing the right track for

themselves.

The four major tracks in the SHS program are 1) academic, 2) technical-

vocational livelihood, 3) sports and 4) arts and design.

Since the contents of the subjects that the students will take in Grades 11 and 12

depend on their chosen career track, they must take extra care in making their

choice.

According to Nancy Pascual (2014) Students cope by following their parents’

advice. They also have to cope with an expectation of financially supporting the

family upon completing their education. Studies from other Asian countries also

show parents’ impact in decision making of students when it comes to students’

course preference [8]. Another study highlighted that parental involvement have

positive impact on Hmong / Mong adolescents’ education and career choice [9].

Furthermore, it is reported that parents are deeply involved and influential to their

high-achieving children’s college choices. The report also found open houses,
dialogue with college friends, alumni, and admitted-student programs are

extremely influential to students. The report claimed these sources are not well

known, but very powerful to student’s decision making for their college. The study

also found 26% of sampled students paid a specialist or advisor during the

college decision process [10]. The studies presented are important to the present

study since the studies explain the importance of taking parents’ advice and

permission in choosing a college course. Respect for family is one of the most

influential factors that impact Filipino students’ career decision. It is concurred

that “Out of respect and loyalty, it may not be appropriate to express personal

desires; rather, one may alter one’s interests to maintain harmony.” As a sign of

respect, Filipino children want to do well for the sake of the family, follow parents’

advice about choosing a job or major in college and lastly, make sacrifices for the

family [12]. For practicality reasons, it is also reported that parents usually

encourage careers that will not cost much money, but at the same time, are

stable sources of income. Careers in nursing, accounting, and engineering are

highly popular for Filipino families [8]. These writings discuss that the family

decides in what college course students should take is also associated with the

financial status of the family.
