Definition of Terms

either within the country or across international borders for leisure, business, fun or adventure.

Destination-the place to which traveler is going in the travel industry,ang city area or country.

Desireable-worth having or wanting; pleasing, excellent, or fine: a desirable apartment. arousing


desire or longing

Foreseeable-event or situation is one that can be known about or guessed before it happens

Heritage- a very broad expression that describe anything that has a link with some past event or
person (e.g. cultural heritage refers to past customs and traditions with unspoken implications.

Highly competitive-several people or groups are trying hard to win against each other. When
something is very competitive, you describe it as "highly competitive".

Intergrated Tourism-can be defined as the kind of tourism which is explicitly linked to the
localities in which it takes place and, in practical terms, has clear connections with local
resources, activities, products, production and service industries, and a participatory local
community

Impacts- Effects,which may be either positive or negative.Felt as a result of toursim -associated


activity it also the Measure of the tangible and intangible effects (consequences).

Literature Review-discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes


information in a particular subject area.
Local- belonging to a particular place or region.

Long term activity-forecasting deals with the problem of pre- dicting how an agent will complete
a full activity, defined as a continuous trajectory and a discrete sequence of sub-actions.

Satisfaction levels-is a measure of how products and services supplied by a company meet or
surpass customer expectation. Customer satisfaction is defined as "the number of customers, or
percentage of total customers, whose reported experience with a firm, its products, or its
services (ratings) exceeds specified satisfaction goals."

Tourism expansion-leads to economic growth (One-way causality: the tourism-led economic


growth)

Tourism Destination - a place for tourists to visit and stay, could be a country, state, region or
city which is marketed or markets itself as a place for tourists to visit.

Tourism Development-is to create strategies and plans to increase/develop/encourage tourism


for a country (place). Develop the tourism sector. The reason behind planning and implementing
strategies for developing the tourism sector is to INCREASE the GDP of a country.

Toursim Sector-very vast, vibrant, dynamic and growth oriented industry

Toursim Industry-the total of all businesses that directly provide goods or services to facilitate
business, pleasure and leisure activities away from the home environment.
Time frames-set period of time in which covers certain events or in which certain things are
expected to occur

Un- spoilt-a natural environment on Earth that has not been significantly modified by civilized.

Viral-something that is absolutely essential or necessary or a person who is lively and full of life.

Variuos-refer to several different or many different things, people.

Aethestic Value - the value that an object, event or state of affairs (most paradigmatically an art
work or the natural environment) possesses in virtue of its capacity to elicit pleasure (positive
value) or displeasure (negative value) when appreciated or experienced aesthetically.

Archeological-study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. The
archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts and cultural
landscapes.

Allocation- is an amount of something, especially money, that is given to a particular person or


used for a particular purpose.The allocation of something is the decision that it should be given
to a particular person or used for a particular purpose

Ancestral- called roots tourism, is a segment of the tourism market consisting of tourists who
have ancestral connections to their holiday destination. These genealogy tourists travel to the
land of their ancestors to reconnect with their past and "walk in the footsteps of their".

Beliefs-something that you believe or accept as true. You might believe something based on a
fact, an opinion or an assumption. When you believe something you might not have immediate
personal knowledge but you are satisfied that something is the way it is.

Capital Investment-sum of money provided to a company to further its business objectives. The
term also can refer to a company's acquisition of long-term assets such as real estate,
manufacturing plants, and machinery.

Conservation-protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing


ecosystem services and protecting biological diversity.

specified imported into that country. They also restricts the entry of persons and forbidden

Repatriate- is the process of returning a person back to one's place of origin or citizenship.

department in a company that is responsible for purchasing.

amusement.

Traditions-is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning
or special significance with origins in the past.

Tourist- one who travels for the period of 24 hrs or more in a place other than that in which he
or she resides,whose purpose could be classified as leisure, business,family,mission or meetin.
Utilization- it was taken to mean tourism visits to the destinations. Each visitation was taken as a
measure and unit of utilization

Visa-stamp of approval recorded on a passport to enter a country for a specific purpose.

Values-which is 'the. perceived benefits provided to meet the customer's needs and. wants,
quality of service received, and the value for money.

Wildlife-can be broadly defined as trips to destinations with the main purpose of visit being to
observe the local fauna. This therefore implies that wildlife tourism includes other niche
markets such as bird watching and the exploration of marine life.

Accreditation- is the act of granting credit or recognition, especially to an educational institution


that maintains suitable standards.

Aforementioned- sustainable tourism development shares many features of the term


sustainable development.

Alleviate- is to make something easier to deal with or endure.

Accentuates-means to focus on something or make something stand out.

Attractions-place of interest where tourists visit, typically for its inherent or an exhibited natural
or cultural value, historical significance, natural or built beauty, offering leisure and amusement.

Anthropogenic-tourism resources are human creations, the features of which attract tourists.
They impact on how the cultural needs of tourists are met.

Adaptation-can be described as the process of dealing with irreparable changes, which have
occurred in the environment due to climate change.

Awareness-as a state of understanding with regard to the activities of tourists and


conservancies surrounding an individual or community which provides them with some context
about activities that may affect them directly or indirectly.

Cultural affirmation-the subset of tourism concerned with a traveler's engagement with a


country or region's culture, specifically the lifestyle of the people in those geographical areas,
the history of those people, their art, architecture, religion(s), and other elements that helped
shape their way of life.

Civil aviation-A Symbiotic Relationship, Concurrently, tourism provides passengers and creates
opportunities for new and increased business for the Air Transport sector. Thus the relationship
between Tourism and Air Transport is mutually reinforcing and inter-dependent.

Convention-provides helpful and time-saving resources for meeting that provides information,
resources, and support for the hospitality and tourism industry .

Capability-the ability to do things and to choose for a way of life according to one's personal
values. As it applies to human capital, capability represents performing or achieving certain
actions.
Collaborative-grounded in finding common ground and complimentary skills between teams
that help everyone involved.

Compulsory-something that is required, not optional.

Citizenry-the group of people who live in a particular city, town, area, or country.

Dissemination-spread information, knowledge, opinions widely.

Design plans-specification for the construction of an object or system or for the implementation
of an activity or process.

Employment- is a paid work agreement between an employer and employee.

Equitable-distribution means everyone gets their fair share of something.

Exploitation-the action or fact of treating someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work.

Estate-refers to a tract of land with defined boundaries, suitable for development into an
integrated resort complex, with prescribed carrying capacities of tourist facilities and activities,
such as, but not limited to, sports and recreation centers and accommodations.

Eco-cultural- is a concept where both ecological and cultural aspects of a landscape are
combined together creating a tourist paradise.

Eco-tourism-is a form of tourism involving visiting fragile, pristine, and relatively undisturbed
natural areas, intended as a low-impact and often small scale alternative to standard
commercial mass.

Ecological Protection- is the practice of protecting the natural environment by individuals,


organizations and governments. Its objectives are to conserve natural resources and the existing
natural environment and, where possible, to repair damage and reverse trends.

Empowerment-refers to measures designed to increase the degree of autonomy and self-


determination in people and in communities in order to enable them to represent their
interests in a responsible and self-determined way, acting on their own authority.

Framework-would enable each of its basic facets to be identified. They become the elements of
the system.

Foreign Exchange- The value of any particular currency is determined by market forces based on
trade, investment and tourism.
Forestry- forest uses, such as recreation, tourism and biodiversity have increased in importance,
and they can provide alternative income and employment opportunities for the local economy

participate in the dialogue, decision making, and implementation of solutions to common
problems or goals.

dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts.

Non- formal education-refers to education that occurs outside the formal school system. Non-
formal education is often used interchangeably with terms such as community education, adult
education, lifelong education and second-chance education.
