Janella E. Bautista visited San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila last October 18, 2019. After asking locals for directions, they walked around Intramuros taking pictures of the unique architecture before finding the church. Inside, they saw large paintings created by professional artists, sculptures, and a room housing cremated remains. The church is a treasury of religious art containing paintings, statues, and carved ceilings. They spent over an hour exploring the well-presented exhibits on two floors before leaving with a fun yet tiring experience.

Last October 18, 2019 (Friday) we went to Intramuros to find San
Agustin Church. At first, we don’t know how to go there. We asked some people so that they can help us what transportation we will take a ride to reach our destination. We walk along inside Intramuros to find San Agustin church. We took pictures around us because it is attractive yet unique. Intramuros looks like Vigan. After that we have reach our destination. We payed for the entrance that costs 160 pesos and it has student discount. As we go inside it, the first attraction that you will see are paintings. There are huge paintings that are created by professional artists. As you walk along, you will see other air conditoned rooms with sculptures and vases inside it. Some of the sculptures are broken and some of the paintings are faded. Also, there are huge replica of human figures and retablos. The appearance of the church is very modern but if you enter into the museum it is like the houses that are built before. There are also a room for the souls which they are cremated. You can observe it and you can give prayers to them you just need to light a candle. It gives me goosebumps so I quickly exit the room. There are different rooms and different attractions inside it. It is a treasury of religious art pieces. Large paintings and statues line the 1st floor hallways. On the 2nd floor, there’s a room where you can see the inside of the church from above. The ceilings look like they are carved. The church ceiling is actually a painting on a flat surface. We spent over an hour wandering the exhibits which are very well presented. Don't miss the exhibits in the rooms on the second floor of the monastery section. The doors are closed and the lights are off but if you approach the doors, a guard will usually appear and turn on the lights. The galleries are air conditioned which is good. It was a memorable day for me because I had fun with my groupmates and I have seen different infrastructures inside it. The experience is tiring because of the travel hour and walk trip yet it is very fun. I hope we can explore more churches and other attractions inside intramuros soon.
