The Purpose of This Guide

I wrote this for people who are interested in learning about Debian Linux on Mac OS X
(Intel). Installing Debian Linux is the first step in learning it. Thanks to free software,
you can install VirtualBox, a free virtual machine software on Mac OS X and then install
Debian Linux inside of VirtualBox.

This guide illustrates the steps I followed to install Debian Linux Lenny as a guest OS
on the host OS - Mac OS X.

I wrote this for new enthusiasts of Debian and VirtualBox.

My Installation Hardware and Software! 3

Step 1: Get the Software You Need! 4

Step 2: Create Virtual Machine on Virtual Box! 13

Step 3: Install Debian into Virtual Machine! 18

Step 4: Install Gnome a Windows Environment! 38
