Assignment-#1

(Give your answer in DDN format . In case of subnets calculation, give the binary
pattern of relevant octet(s))
Use IP address space in optimum way (free space aggregated at one place).
Draw pie diagram (wherever possible) with proper labels.
(write in DDN, binary (relevant octets only and hex format)

72.17.11.25 , 172.17.11.26 , 72.17.11.27

Q3.(Fixed size subnets) Create subnets-

(i). network address 172.17.0.0. Create 9 subnets

(ii) network address 172.16.0.0. Create subnets of given size- 200 hosts,400
hosts,2000 hosts,5500 hosts

Q4. ( VLSM variable sized subnets) ( subnet mask is part of routing information)
Calculate subnetmask(s) ,maximum number of subnets and maximum number of hosts per
subnet to be created in given network.
Also provide above information for leftover (all free addresses space close to each
other ) subnets
(i). Network 172.16.0.0 - (total 9 subnets required) first subnet with 20000,second
subnet with 10000, 3rd subnet with 6000, 4th
subnet with 2200,5th subnet with 1100, 6th subnet with 600, 7th subnet with
300,8th subnet with 150,last subnet with
100 hosts
(ii) Repeat Q3(ii) using VLSM.

(multilevel VLSM)
(iii).Network 172.18.0.0 is given and seven subnets as per following size are
required-
N1 has 56 hosts, N2 has 48 hosts,N3 has 28 hosts,N4 has 10 hosts,N5 has 25
hosts,N6 has 16 hosts,N7 has 8 hosts.
Administrator of N1 further divides this subnet as-
N11 has 28 hosts, N12 has 5 hosts,N13 has 5 hosts,N14 has 10 hosts
Administrator of N5 further divides this subnet as-
N51 has 2 hosts, N52 has 5 hosts,N53 has 4 hosts,N54 has 1 hosts,N55 has 6
hosts
Draw suitable diagram to show above divisions.

Q5. Repeat Q4(i) using slash with prefix instead netmask as in case of classless
(CIDR).
