“Learning should not stop after earning your bachelor’s degree, it should be continuous,

and you must always set goals to improve your career”, I can still remember these words from
one of my mentors during my college days. These words of wisdom inspired me and made me
realized that I should aim more than just finishing my Education course. From then on, entering
graduate school and earning a master’s degree has been one of my priority goals after college.
As I entered the teaching field, I came upon the realization that “teaching” it is indeed
a very competitive field. It really requires knowledge and expertise in able for you to carry
out your work properly and survive. It is undeniable that teachers are always faced with
different challenges inside and outside the classroom, there are the vast changes in the
curriculum, modernization in teaching methods and strategies, integration of technology in
classrooms and subjects, as well as the dynamic learning needs of the 21st century learners
that we need to fulfil. Teachers in the 21st century should be versatile enough to be able to
follow the fast pace changes in education. Teachers are always pushed to improve their
teaching styles and continue career development programs to be able to adapt with the
changes. This has awakened my eagerness in pursuing my master’s degree. In my four years
of teaching, I still consider myself as a novice in the field as I believe that my knowledge and
expertise is still insufficient to be able to adapt with these wide arrays of changes. For this
reason, I would like to study again. I believe that entering graduate school would help to
improve my career. Grad school can help me gain specialized skills and knowledge that I
could use to advance and be better in the field. Earning a master’s degree can also open better
opportunities for me as an educator.

In addition to my interest in pursuing a master’s degree, I am convinced that through

the deeper study of methods in teaching and extensive researches, I can effectively teach and
help my students to learn and excel in their studies.

I believe that I am well prepared for graduate studies. During my baccalaureate study,
I acquired the necessary background knowledge and skills in Education, I also believe that
this course will better equip me for the challenges I will be facing in my future teachings. I
expect the graduate studies at University of Caloocan City to be demanding, challenging, and
ultimately rewarding. I look forward to a new experience, meeting and learning from
intellectual and excellent professors and colleagues -- I hope to learn and grow more as an
educator as well as an individual. I hope that I will be allowed to do so at my alma mater The
University of Caloocan City.
