SIM RACING SETUP GUIDE

SOLUTIONS TO HANDLING ISSUES ARE PRESENTED IN MY PREFFERED ORDER OF IMPLEMENTATION.

V1.0

THESE ARE SUGGESTIONS, NOT RULES - AND AS ALWAYS, RESULTS VARY FROM SIM TO SIM.
BRAKING TURN IN CORNER EXIT OTHER TIPS

LOSS OF CONTROL UNDERSTEER UNDERSTEER TYRES OVERHEAT RIDE HEIGHT

1. Move brake bias forward All Speeds: All Speeds: All Over: As low as possible, but avoid
2. Decrease slow damper 1. Adjust front tyre pressures 1. Stiffen rear anti-roll bar 1. Increase pressures grounding car or stalling the aero
2. Soften front anti-roll bar 2. Increase diff power locking 2. Decrease toe value
3. Increase front toe out 3. Stiffen rear springs
4. Decrease diff coast locking On Inside Edge:
FRONT TYRES OFTEN LOCK 5. Soften front springs Mid-High Speed: Reduce negative camber
DAMPERS
Reduce rear wing angle, or
Move brake bias backward Mid-High Speed: Increase front wing angle On Outer Edge:
Bump setting should be lower than
Reduce rear wing angle, or Increase negative camber
the corresponding rebound setting
Increase front wing angle
In Middle:
CAR PITCHES TOO MUCH When Braking: OVERSTEER Reduce pressures
Try to use the lowest setting that
avoids oscillation / bouncing
Move brake bias backward All Speeds:
Stiffen front springs
1. Soften rear anti-roll bar Can be used to tune the
2. Decrease diff power locking responsiveness of the car.
3. Soften rear springs TYRES COLD High values = more responsive
OVERSTEER
NOSE HITS FLOOR Mid-High Speed:
All Over: Low values = more stable
All Speeds: 1. Decrease pressures
1. Increase ride height Increase rear wing angle, or
1. Adjust rear tyre pressures 2. Increase toe value
2. Adjust bump stops Decrease front wing angle
3. Stiffen front springs
2. Stiffen front anti-roll bar AERO
3. Decrease front toe out
4. Stiffen front springs
LIFT OFF OVERSTEER CAR EDGY DURING Use ride height and rake to generate
as much downforce as possible,
EXCESSIVE LOCKING Mid-High Speed: WEIGHT TRANSFER then trim the aero balance using
Increase rear wing angle, or PICNIC
When Braking, the wings and/or splitter.
Reduce overall brake pressure Decrease front wing angle (Problem in chair, not in car)
Accelerating & Turning:
(use with caution) Increasing the rake moves
Decrease slow damper setting
the aero balance backwards
CAR BOUNCES DURING
On Bumps/Curbs:
LIFT OFF OVERSTEER WEIGHT TRANSFER Decrease fast damper setting Run the car as stiff as needed to
maintain stable ride height
1. Increase diff coast locking When Braking,
2. Increase pre-load value Accelerating & Turning:
Increase slow damper setting LOW TOP SPEED BRAKE BIAS
On Bumps/Curbs: 1. Reduce wing values
Increase fast damper setting 2. Lengthen gear ratios Front tyres should lock just
