kawak milkfish auction. milkfish auction is auctioning milkfish, but not just milkfish, but special seasoned
milkfish that are kept between 5-10 years and weigh 7 kg to 10 kg per head. This activity is usually held
to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad or during the anniversary of Sidoarjo
Regency.

This kaweng bandeng auction is usually held at night and carried out openly in Sidoarjo.da Regency
Square, collected from the kawak bandeng auction, which will be channeled to social and community
activities, including assisting in the construction of places of worship.

the second is nyadran, Nyadran is a custom for kupang fishermen in Balongdowo village as an
expression of gratitude to God Almighty. The form of Nyadran activities is a demonstration party how to
take kupang in the middle of the Madura strait sea.

Nyadran in Sidoarjo has its own characteristics. The Nyadran activity was carried out by the Balongdowo
people whose livelihood as fishermen in Kupang, in the afternoon was very busy with preparations for
the ceremony party despite the highlight of the program at midnight.

This activity is carried out in the early hours of the morning at around 1am. People gather to do a tour.
The journey starts from Balongdowo District, Candi, a distance of 12 Km. Towards the village of
Kepetingan Desa. Sawohan District of Buduran. This trip passes through the river Balongdowo village,
Klurak kali Pecabean, Kedung peluk and Kepetingan (Sawohan).

When the boat procession arrived at the estuary, the boat's Pecabean carrying a toddler threw away a
chicken. It is said that according to the story, there were people who attended the Nyadran program
with a small child and the child was possessed. Therefore, to avoid this, the Balongdowo community
believes that by removing a living chicken to Pecabean times, the small children who follow Nyadran will
avoid being possessed by calamity.

Around o'clock. 4.30 WIB. The boat convoy arrived in the village of Kepetingan Desa. Sawohan. A group
of nyadran participants went straight to the tomb of Dewi Sekardadu to hold a meal together. While
waiting for dawn to arrive, the nyadran participants made a pilgrimage, gave alms, and prayed at the
tomb so that blessings continued to flow. According to the Balongdowo folklore Dewi Sekardadu is the
daughter of King Blambangan called Minak Sembuyu who at the time of her death was surrounded by
"crab fish" that was the reason why the village was called Kepetingan. But people often refer to Hamlet
Ketingan.
After from the tomb of Dewi Sekardadu, around 07.00 WIB. The boats go to the Madura strait which is
about 3 Km. Around 10:00 WIB. the boat motorcade began to leave the Madura strait. Then they
returned to Balongdowo Village. Along the way home it turned out that many people lined the river to
welcome the boat convoy. They ask for blessings / food brought by the participants of the nyadran in
the hope of getting blessings.

There is one process from this nyadran party namely "Melarung tumpeng" This process is carried out in
the estuary / Clangap (meeting between the Balongdowo river, Candi river, and the Sidoarjo river). This
process is held if there is a party of Nyadran or kupang fishermen who have nadzar / vows.
