• Reduced damage and easier repair due to the machine’s
substantial metal bodywork and protected hose routings
increase uptime and reduce operating costs while helping
to maintain residual value.
• Compare the construction of both the vulnerable ‘skirt’
section of the upper body and the rear door from many
competitive models and the 301.6C/301.8C superior
durability is obvious.
Serviceability
• Easy servicing of the 301.6C/301.8C with ground level
engine access, large swing out door and no need for a cab
tilt feature is essential to reduce time out of work and
maximize profitability.

Best in Class
• Recent independent market research showed that medium
excavator customers (320-336) rated Cat “Best in Class”
on 32 of 38 excavator attributes. Cat scored highest on the
most important attributes like productivity, reliability, parts
availability and dealer support.
345D L

• Reliability and durability are built into the design of the 345D L.
From the curved side rails on the outer frame or the baffles and
large cross sections found in the boom, Cat ensures machines
leaving the factory are rugged and strong.
• Forged steel is used in critical high-load areas such as the boom-
foot and boom cylinder connection to ensure long life.
Serviceability
• The design and layout of the 345D L was made with the service
technician in mind. The service points are easily accessible at
ground level to allow easy and fast servicing. Combined with
long service intervals, this translates to low downtime and high
machine availability.

• Rip and Load. With the use of a heavy-duty quick couple,
short ripper, bucket, and hammer lines, the 365C L can
convert from a loading tool to a tractor, and back to a
loading tool in less than 30 seconds.
• Reliability demonstrated through intensive lab and field
validation (check table tests, components lab tests,
approximately 8,000 hours have been accumulated
before launching the production).
• The 365C L is designed to last (ex: box construction of track
frame on Cat versus U-channel construction on Hitachi).
• Robust assembly line process supported by dedicated
checking and tests (computer test, functional tests with up
to 5 1 hour road-tests, pre-delivery audit, pre-delivery
inspection, check list...) guarantee delivery of an optimum
quality level.
• Robot welding ensures consistent, high-quality welds
throughout the manufacturing process.
• All boom and stick are stress relieved.
• All suppliers are certified ISO9001 and Caterpillar is
deeply involved to review their process since the design
phase (Advanced Product Quality Planning, control plan)
Serviceability
• Service intervals are extended to reduce maintenance costs
and optimize uptime (eg: Maintenance free batteries on
Cat/250 hours maintenance interval on Volvo EC700B LC).
• Maintenance interval for engine oil, filters, final drive and
coolant are monitored on the Electronic Control System in
the cab. No competitive monitoring system is as complete
as the Cat Hydraulic Excavators.
385C L
Built to Last
• Rip and Load. With the use of a heavy-duty quick couple,
short ripper, bucket, and hammer lines, the 385C L can
convert from a loading tool to a tractor, and back to a
loading tool in less than 30 seconds.
• Reliability demonstrated through intensive lab and field
validation (check table tests, components lab tests, around
5,000 hours have been accumulated before launching the
production).
• The 385C L is designed to last (ex: box construction of track
frame on Cat versus U-channel construction on Hitachi).
• Robust assembly line process supported by dedicated
checking and tests (computer test, functional tests with up
to 5 1 hour road-tests, pre-delivery audit, pre-delivery
inspection, check list...) guarantee delivery of an optimum
quality level.

throughout the manufacturing process.
