Lesson Plan in Science (Grade 1)

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:


1. Identify and compare body parts and functions of;
2. Infer the importance of each body part of the body;
3. Observe how each part helps animals move.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Body Parts and Body Movements of Animals


Instructional Materials: LCD projector, laptop, PowerPoint presentation, video clip,
picture

Let us listen the song first and after that
were going to sing and dance the action
song. Are you ready?”

C. Lesson proper

1. Introduction of the objectives and the


topic

At the end of the lesson, you must be


able to:
1. Identify and compare body parts
and functions of;
2. Infer the importance of each body
part of the body;
3. Observe how each part helps
animals move.

(Picture of a carabao being presented


on the slide presentation.)
“Have you seen a real carabao?” “Yes ma’am.”
“Great! I’m going to read a story and
listen to me okay? This is a beautiful
story of a carabao. I will call someone
later to read some parts of the story.”
(Short story being presented through
the slideshow)

(questions about the story will be


asked to assess their comprehension)

2. Discussion of the topic

(Again, the picture of a carabao being


presented on the slide presentation.)

“Anyone of you can identify the body (two or three students who volunteered
parts of a carabao?” will answer)

“Mouth”
“What does the mouth do?” “to eat grass”
“Very good! Another?” “legs”
“And what do the legs do?” “to walk on the ground and move”
“Precisely! Another? “eyes”
“What are eyes for? “so that it can see around”
“Very good. Just like our eyes, the eyes
of the carabao are for seeing.
D. Application

“To further understand our lesson, we Group presentation


will have an activity. I have here
pictures. Select only one. Your group
will be your chosen picture. Using a
worksheet, each group has to identify
the body parts of the animal you
selected and also its functions.
After that you’ll present it to the class.
You have ten minutes to do the task. ”

“Very good. Let’s give everybody a big

IV. EVALUATION

“We will have another activity. I have


here three pairs of animals. Pair 1 – frog
and snake, pair 2 – bird and butterfly,
and pair 3 – shark and whale. Those
who’d like to sing will present a song
about the body parts of different
animals which is used for moving. Those
who’d like to draw will be drawing
about the body parts of different
animals which are used for moving. And
those who’d love to dance will present a
movements or dance steps about the
body parts of different animals which
are used for moving.”

You will be graded according to the


following:

a. Accuracy of information 25%


b. Clarity of presentation 25%
c. Creativity and originality 25%
d. Neatness of output/execution 25%

V. ASSIGNMENT
For your assignment, you have to select
one of this activity:

1. Make a list on how to properly take


care of animals.
2. Compose a poem about animal and
its body parts and movements.
3. Draw a diagram of animal’s body
parts.
