IV. INTRODUCTION OF THE RESEARCH

This experimental research conducted to determine the effectiveness of

Madre de cacao (Gliricidia Sepium) leaves and also leaves extract as an alternative

floor wax in the classroom floors to keep the floor shiny. Madre de cacao also known

as kakawate, is a smooth and deciduous tree commonly found in tropical countries

like Philippines.

As of now, the country is facing a great crisis in economy. The researchers

found out in school, they are required for using floor wax to keep the floor shiny.

Even in the houses, floor wax is being used. So, the researchers decided to make a

floor wax which is very affordable and can give an equal quality as the commercial

can. Researchers come up to this research and product to produce Madre de cacao

alternative floor wax. This plant has a great benefits in terms of shining the floor.

Madre de cacao has different uses that can help us, people in a lot of things.

It can stabilizes sloping hands and reduce soil erosion. The leaves are rich in

nitrogen and other nutrients suitable for green manure and fodder. In experimental

research, every individual will use the Madre de cacao as a floor wax. The product of

cacao wax is an innovative product and reliable product that are easy to use. Cacao

wax is a new kind of wax that is much effective than other floor wax. Because every

individual can use this product. (Glover, 1991)

In this product, the researchers use this Madre de cacao leaves and also

leaves extract for making a cacao wax. This product are good to use because even

though it is effective as a cacao wax. Madre de cacao is one of the most abundant

plant because it is one of the easiest growing plants that could find. It can grow from

10-12 meters high. The tree is referred by many people quick-stick clue to the

characteristics of growing plants almost right away just by cutting it and directly

planting it in the ground. (belize.com, 2010)

It means that, every individual can plant a lots of Madre de cacao, and the

more the trees, the more the product can make. It can help every individuals to keep

the floors shiny. Madre de cacao are easily growing plant that the production will not

be affected if the researchers use the leaves extract to make a cacao wax.

This study aims to produce floor wax from the leaves of Glaricidia Sepium

tree. Specifically, this study seek’s for an answer to the following questions:

cacao wax and the commercial wax?

VII. SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study will determine the level of effectives of Madre de cacao leaves

extract as an alternative source for making a floor wax.

The researchers use the survey questionnaire that can help them to get an

information. It contains 9 questions to be answered by 30 respondents of senior high

school students of Southville 1 Integrated National High School. From General

Academic Strand (GAS). The local has an address of block 54-55 Southville 1

Integrated National High School, Barangay Niugan, Cabuyao City Province of

Laguna.

In addition, the researchers use experimental research for the purpose of

investigation of the Madre de cacao that can be effective as an alternative source of

floor wax making. It is considered for four (4) month time frame on conducting this

study, that’s what the researchers need an investigation and know the procedures.

VIII. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents and discuss the research methodology of the study. It

contains the research design, population, and sample, sampling technique,

instrumentation, data gathering procedure and statistical tools. All are necessarily

needed for the analysis of data and interpretation of data.

A. Sampling

The researchers administered survey-questionnaire to determine the

effectiveness of madre de cacao wax in classroom to keep the floor shiny. Under the

probability sampling, the researcher used the random sampling where in the

respondents are randomly selected and unbiased representation of the total

population.

B. Data Collection

The researchers made a set of questionnaire that served as the research

questionnaire to seek and determine the effectiveness of Madre de cacao wax in

classroom floors. The researchers made a product which is the Madre de cacao

leaves extract as a floor wax. They approach their research teacher for the

permission to kindly validate their questionnaires and the product and accept its

suggestion and recommendations making the study more credible. After the

validations the researchers need to apply in the classroom floors to see if its

effective, they started to conduct a survey. The researchers distributed the survey

questionnaire to the grade 11 Senior High School Students and the respondents

started to answer it honestly.

IX. DISCUSSION OF RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter contains the presentation, analysis and interpretation of the

results on the analysis on the effectiveness of Madre de cacao wax in classroom

floor’s of Grade 11 Senior High School students of Southville 1 Integrated National

High School, all the results is based on the result of data, gathering using the data

gathering tools.
