Reservation has been an integral part of our society since
independence. But there is a lot of chaos and issues regarding
reservations. Should reservations be based on economic status or
should it be given to a certain section of the society? Who
should get there seats reserved in an educational institution and
who in a professional field? Should reservation be there in
political field or should everyone get a fair chance? Today I am
going to discuss about this topic in detail.
Reservation, in my opinion, is like serving someone food in its
platter. Once you start getting reservations in a few field, you
start taking it for granted. In my opinion reservations should not
exist. But for a corrupt country like india, there are a lot of
people who deserve a seat in a particular field but doesn’t get
one just because they are not financially well equipped.
Reservation should be done for those who deserve it. Not for
everyone. When we take into consideration the current scenario
of our country, we see the people who earn enough are getting
seats in an institution even though they don’t qualify for it. The
ones who qualify, are not financially stable to give money to the
corrupt institutional owners. Reservation should be given on the
basis of economic status so that the poor as well as the rich get a
chance to enjoy a quality life. But too much of a thing is also
dangerous. If reservation is given to the poor, many will find a
way to get fake degrees and certificates to enter into such
institutions. Let us talk about educational institutions. A well off
family may use its background to get admission into a good
private school. There they will get reservation that will help
them save more money. But a poor child cannot enter the same
private school only because he doesn’t belong to the particular
section of the society. Reservation shouldn’t be given to some
people. Its either to the ones who deserve it, or to none at all. If a
person with good grades apply to a college but isn’t well off
financially, he should get reservation or scholarships to study in
that university. One should be proud of themselves for working
too hard. Reservation doesn’t mean you get everything when
you want. Today’s scenario somehow explains that people from
a particular section of the society can get reservations in
institutions and they don’t even have to work for it. Another
example is of women getting reservations. Its true that women
have been oppressed by men by a long period of time. Our
society should change its mindset regarding this and not give
reservations. Women can work equally like men. They may not
have the physical strength but they have the capabilities to pull
off every single thing that a man can do. One should start giving
seats to women on the basis of their work, not on the basis of
their sexuality. Just because a person is born in some way that
doesn’t mean you give them seats to institutions. In my opinion,
seats should be given to people on the basis of their work.

Thank you.
