La mayoría de los riboswitches se caracterizan por: un dominio aptámero responsable de la unión del ligando y una
plataforma de expresión, que convierte los cambios plegables en el dominio aptámero en cambios en la expresión
génica. Los riboswitches que controlan la represion transcripcional tienen una secuencia de conmutacion que dirige la
formacion de un terminador transcripcional independiente de Rho (Fig. 8A).Los riboswitches que regulan el inicion de la
traduccion (Fig. 8B) utilizan una secuencia de conmutacion que puede exponer el sitio de union al ribosoma ( Shine-
Dalgarno).
