• Materials and resources: Copies of the text, IQBoard, papers and pens.

• Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, I will use the IQBoard to present the topic
and watch a video. I will also encourage them to use their cellphones and access to
two different websites through QR Codes.

• Seating arrangement: They will move to the school library and sit around four tables
in groups.

 Cooperative work: they will work in groups and in pairs when writing their answers to
questions for the interviews. They will also cooperate in checking the exercises.

 Potential problems students may have with the language: Students may have some
problems when watching and listening to the video. They might also ignore the
meaning of some words in the text. They may find difficult to write their answers to a
job interview.

 Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I’ll check most of the activities orally and
their listening and reading comprehension all together. I’ll also check their writing skills
individually.
Routine: 5’

Purpose: to start the lesson, get students into the mood for work, establish initial rapport.

I’ll get into the classroom and greet the students. I’ll ask them how they are and how their
week was.

Warm-up 5’:

Purpose: to review vocabulary and introduce some new elements.

We will move the school library and students will sit around two long tables. I’ll start
showing them a presentation four phrases to copy and complete in their folders:

T: “Think about the future, and think how your life would be in 10 years more. If you were
28, how would your life be? Copy and complete the sentences about yourself. I also want
to hear some of your answers.”

Transition: “Great job! Now, let’s answer some questions and watch a video.”

Presentation 15’:

Purpose: to expose the learners to the target language and to activate their prior
knowledge.

PART 1: I will start the activity by asking students orally what a job interview is for, who
participate in one and what people need to succeed. I want to know how much they know
about them.

PART 2: I will introduce a short video in which good and bad behaviors at a job interview
are contrasted. They will just have to pay attention to the differences.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C21nLYzAJl0
I’ll ask them to watch the video for a second time and take notes about the differences
they could see. Then, I’ll give them some minutes to work in pairs and define some dos
and don’ts in a job interview.

Transition: “That was great! Let’s now read some useful information about job
interviews.”

Development 45’:

 Activity 1 - 25’:
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language and develop their reading
skills.

Students will work in groups of 5 or 6 students. They will read a text with advices on how
to answer the main questions in a job interview. They will have to highlight one or two
sentences in each paragraph that they consider the most important when having a job
interview. They will all share their answer orally and we will discuss on the main topics to
consider.
 Activity 2 - 20’:
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language and develop their writing
skills.

Students will have to go back to the first activity and think as they were 28. They will have
to choose their ideal job and write their answers to a job interview, taking into account
the text they read before.

I’ll monitor the activity walking around the classroom. They will be allowed to do the
activity in pairs but the final answers must be individual. I’ll take their answers to check
for the following class.

Transition: “Excellent work! Now I’ll take your answers to read and check them for next
class”.

Closure 10’:

As a closure activity, we will work with the following sentences:

1. A CV is a document with information about you.

2. You use a CV to get a job.
3. You should put your photo on your CV.
4. Your CV should be 3 or 4 pages long.
5. It’s OK to have mistakes (spelling, grammar…) on your CV.
6. All information on your CV must be in full sentences.

I will display them on the board and we will talk about them. They will say if they are true
or false and why.
Finally, I’ll present them two QR codes so they can look for information through their
cellphones, I’ll ask them to look into both web pages and read them to find out some
more useful information since the following class they will have to design their own CV
and prepare for a job interview.
JOB INTERVIEWS CREATE A CV
T: I want that now you can access to both websites and explore the resources you have to
create your own CV and read about how to succeed in a job interview.”
