VICE CHAIRMAN,
VUDA
The Aim of the Project
• to ensure a safe, reliable, hassle-free traffic flow at the NAD inter
section by providing a good and sound flyover with aesthetic look
to cater to the present day as well as future traffic requirements

•to make alignment proposals duly considering the up-coming

mega transport projects like Metro at this junction and ensure no
interference with any other project crossing the junction
Existing Features of the NAD Junction

Following are the features of NAD Junction

1. It is a four road junction as shown
2. The Junction is formed by NH16 (NH5) & Marripalem – Pendurthi
3. Exg. RoW of NH16 is 60m and that of Marripalem – Pendurthi is 30m
4. RoB Crossing exists on the Airport arm of the junction at a distance less than
300m from the Junction
5. Metro Rail Corridor is planned along the NH at Second Level
6. BRTS facility exists on Marripalem – Pendurthi Road

The present planning & proposals shall be integrated with the above existing features
BIRD EYE VIEW OF NAD JUNCTION
The Engineering Proposal is carried out based on the following:
A. Existing site conditions
B. Minutes of Meeting (MoM) held on 31st May 2016
C. Presentation given in Collectrate on 7th July 2016
D. Minutes of Meeting (MoM) held on 11th July 2016
TRAFFIC FLOW
TRAFFIC FLOW

Gist of Traffic Surveys

A. Total Traffic Flow in the Junction is 113500 PCUs
B. 75% of the traffic is made up of Two Wheelers, Three
Wheelers & Passenger Cars
C. Busses constitute about 12% of the Total Traffic
D. 13% of the Total Traffic is made-
made-up of Freight Traffic
E. 55% of Total Traffic Flow is in NSTL-
NSTL-Airport direction and
balance 45% is in Marripalem – Simhachalam direction
F. Among the Turning Movements, NSTL to Simhachalam
(Right), Simhachalam to NSTL (Left) and Airport to
Simhachalam (Left), Simhachalam to Airport (Right) are
major turning movements
PEAK HOUR PEDESTRIAN CROSSING
Traffic Projections are made for 15 Years and Lane

mind the existing RoW (without any Land
Acquisition)

Left Turn along Shimachalam LOS Cannot be matched.
Traffic Road and NH

TURNING MOMENT TRAFFIC - SIMHACHALAM TO NSTL AND NSTL TO SIMHACHALAM IS MAXIMUM AND DUE TO
LAND CONSTRAINTS, ADEQUATE LOS CANNOT BE PROVIDED IN THESE DIRECTIONS. FINDING ALTERNATE ROUTS
WILL MINIMIZE THE TRAFFIC FLOW AT NAD JUNCTION.
IN VIEW OF THE ABOVE, SIMHACHALAM – HANUMANDAWAKA BRTS WILL BE THE SUITABLE ALTERNATE FOR
SIMHACHALAM – NSTL AND NSTL – SIMHACHALAM TRAFFIC FLOW. AT PRESENT THE BRTS IS NOT COMPLETED FOR
THE ENTIRE LENGTH, ONCE IT IS COMPLETED THE TRAFFIC FLOW WILL SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED AND THE
PROPOSED 2 LANE SERVICE LANES WILL BE ADEQUATE.
