Computer science

In relation to the objective conditions of the country and to meet the ever-increasing demand for
skilled ICT professionals, the Department of Computer Science ceased the diploma programs &
launched B.Sc. Degree program in Computer Science in 2005/2006. The program is designed for
offering in four years in line with the country's new education policy after the completion of
TVET level IV or pre-university program.

Bsc Program Objectives

 To provide a sound base in computer science and in problem-solving skills.

 To provide skills in the state-of-the art of ICT tools.
 To lay a strong foundation for advanced study in computer science.

Bsc Graduate Profile Graduates are expected to:

 Demonstrate intellectual competency and transferable knowledge and skills and articulate
them effectively.
 Design, develop and maintain enterprise level application programs.
 Design, develop and administer enterprise level databases.
 Design and develop Websites / Web applications.
 Design and develop mobile applications.
 Install networks and perform simple maintenance and troubleshooting.
 Assist and participate in research activities.

Bsc Admission Requirement

 Successful completion of pre-university program according to the new education policy

or
 COC or similar standard examinations authenticated by the Ministry of Education or
 Diploma/Degree holders or
 At least completion of one semester at an accredited higher institution for degree
program.

Bsc Duration of study

 Four years for regular students.

 Five years for extension students.

Accounting & Finance
The main objective of the program is to produce intellectuals in the area of Accounting and
Finance capable of conducting Accounting and financial analysis which is crucial to
development endeavor. The specific objectives are:-

 Introduce the discipline of Accounting and finance.

 Provide basic understanding of how Accounting function.
 Introduce various development models with special emphasis on LDC’s.
 Provide profound knowledge on international Accounting and financial interrelationships
and interactions.
 Explore the record of financial transactions in different types of institutions and business
organizations and equip with the techniques of financial analysis.
 Integrate Accounting and financial disciplines with modern information technology
applications.
 Portray techniques in conducting research and making Accounting and financial analysis.

Graduate Profile Graduates of the department are of special advantage to employers since they
will have a profound knowledge in both Accounting and finance and can handle duties assigned
to them in both areas. They are capable of conducting Accounting and financial analysis required
for sound decision-making. Project preparation, monitoring and evaluation activities are within
their domain. They are able to conduct research activities including marketing and development
research. The comprehensive knowledge they acquire in both disciplines will highly qualify
them to serve in financial institutions, NGO’s, Government and private business organizations.

The Department of Management is one of the major departments at Ethio-lance college. At
present, the department offers services to hundreds of students in its undergraduate program. The
department is committed to providing quality education toward producing well qualified and
competent graduates who can sufficiently meet the skilled work-force needs of the country and
those who would like to involve themselves in self-supportive activities.
