• Open house visits and other staff training are not scheduled
• Instruction on ancillary equipment (Pump Injector/Colon Insufflator) is
completed
before system training

the training are notified
• Imaging accessories, archive media and other supplies are available

EMPTY Special information for Cardiac training
If you have purchased the Cardiac options enabling you to acquire gated
cardiac studies, we strongly recommend that training on this aspect of CT is
not undertaken during the initial week of training.
It is better to plan and address Cardiac CT during a dedicated training session
once you are more familiar with the CT system, and when a number of suitable
patients can be scheduled.

EMPTY Radiologists training in postprocessing on AW workstation
The Education Specialist can spend some time with the Radiologists to
introduce them to the Post processing tools on the Workstation, however
dedicated AW training will be addressed on subsequent visits.
DAY 1
Technologists and Half-day – 2-3 Patients
physicians
Training will start with installation of protocols and network transfers.
The main physician must be there to prepare the validation of scan protocols.
Please refrain from booking patients for the first 2 to 3 hours. This will allow
time for an introduction to your CT:
• System accessories
• Gantry controls and safety features
• Operation of the Scanner Interface
• How to build Scan protocols and review scan parameters
For the rest of the afternoon book a range of simple examinations – for
example: Brain scan, High Resolution Chest, Sinuses, Standard Chest and
Abdomen examinations. Book these at 30-minute intervals.
Please note: if you wish to scan contrast enhanced examinations, please make
sure that you have previously received training on the Pump Injector (if you
have installed a new one along with the scanner).
DAY 2
Technologists and Full day - ~10 patients
physicians
Schedule a range of contrast and non-contrast examinations at 30-minute
intervals. Allow 1 hour during the day with no patients for training on other
aspects of the CT.
DAYS 3 and 4
Technologists and Full days - 10-15 patients per day
physicians
Book a range of more complicated examinations. This may include Angio
studies, Colonography, Perfusion or others depending upon your department
specialities. At your discretion, time may be spent training the basic
functionality of the workstation.
