Magnet therapy : Magnet therapy, magnetic therapy is a pseudoscientific alternative medicine practice involving a weak static

magnetic fields produced by a permanent magnet. It is similar to the alternative medicine practice of electromagnetic therapy,
which uses a magnetic field generated by an electrically powered device.

Practitioners claim that subjecting certain parts of the body to weak electric or magnetic fields has beneficial health effects. These
physical and biological claims are unproven and no effects on health or healing have been established. Although hemoglobin, the
blood protein that carries oxygen, is weakly diamagnetic (when oxygenated) or paramagnetic (when deoxygenated), the magnets
used in magnetic therapy are many orders of magnitude too weak to have any measurable effect on blood flow.[6] This is not to
be confused with trans-cranial magnetic stimulation, a scientifically valid form of therapy

Methods of application : A smooth circular band of magnetite on a finger

Magnetite ring : Magnet therapy involves applying the weak magnetic field of permanent magnets to the body, for purported
health benefits. Different effects are assigned to different orientations of the magnet.
Products include magnetic bracelets and jewelry; magnetic straps for wrists, ankles, knees, and back; shoe insoles; mattresses;
magnetic blankets (blankets with magnets woven into the material); magnetic creams; magnetic supplements; plasters/patches
and water that has been "magnetized". Application is usually performed by the patient.
It is similar to the alternative medicine practice of electromagnetic therapy, which uses the weak electric or magnetic fields as
well, but generated by electrically powered devices.

Suggested mechanisms of action : Perhaps the most common suggested mechanism is that magnets might improve blood flow in
underlying tissues. The field surrounding magnet therapy devices is far too weak and falls off with distance far too quickly to
appreciably affect hemoglobin, other blood components, muscle tissue, bones, blood vessels, or organs. A 1991 study on humans
of static field strengths up to 1 T found no effect on local blood flow.Tissue oxygenation is similarly unaffected. Some practitioners
claim that the magnets can restore the body's hypothetical "electromagnetic energy balance", but no such balance is medically
recognized. Even in the magnetic fields used in magnetic resonance imaging, which are many times stronger, none of the claimed
effects are observed. If the body were meaningfully affected by the weak magnets used in magnet therapy, MRI would be
impractical.
Efficacy : Several studies have been conducted in recent years to investigate what role, if any, static magnetic fields may play in
health and healing. Unbiased studies of magnetic therapy are problematic, since magnetisation can be easily detected, for
instance, by the attraction forces on ferrous (iron-containing) objects; because of this, effective blinding of studies (where neither
patients nor assessors know who is receiving treatment versus placebo) is difficult.Incomplete or insufficient blinding tends to
exaggerate treatment effects, particularly where any such effects are small.Health claims regarding longevity and cancer
treatment are implausible and unsupported by any research.More mundane health claims, most commonly about anecdotal pain
relief, also lack any credible proposed mechanism and clinical research is not promising.

The American Cancer Society states that "available scientific evidence does not support these claims".According to the National
Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, studies of magnetic jewelry haven't shown demonstrable effects on pain,
nerve function, cell growth or blood flow.
A 2008 systematic review of magnet therapy for all indications found insufficient evidence to determine whether magnet therapy
is effective for pain relief,as did a 2012 review focused on osteoarthritis. Both reviews reported that small sample sizes,
inadequate randomization, and difficulty with allocation concealment all tend to bias studies positively and limit the strength of
any conclusions.

Safety : These devices are generally considered safe in themselves, though there can be significant financial and opportunity costs
to magnet therapy, especially when treatment or diagnosis are avoided or delayed.

The four cycles

Interaction among the elements is viewed in terms of four cycles. Inter-promoting denotes the principle whereby each of
the elements nurtures, produces, and benefits another specific element. Inter-acting refers to the principle by which each
of the elements constrains another element.

Arranged in cyclic form, the inter-promoting relationships are as follows (starting with wood promoting fire):

wood fire earth metal water wood

The interacting cycle (starting with wood acts on earth) is as follows:

wood earth water fire metal wood

In their correspondences to the viscera, the inter-promoting and inter-acting cycles appear as follows:

inter-promoting: liver heart spleen lung kidney liver

inter-acting: liver spleen kidney heart lung liver

The notions of inter-promoting and inter-acting posit a conception of the natural world as a united whole made up of
interrelated parts. In inter-promoting, there is inter-acting, and in inter-acting, there is inter-promoting. This belief that
all movement and mutation in the phenomenal world derives from the mutually promoting and mutually acting
relationships of all phenomena has had a profound influence on the visceral manifestation theory of Chinese medicine.

Five Elements analysis of organ characteristics

The nature and function of the organs are seen to have correspondences to phenomena in nature and are classified with
those phenomena according to Five Elements.

Liver-wood: The liver’s physiologic characteristic is that it thrives by orderly reaching. It governs upbearing and stirring
and is like the “sprouting of trees and plants in spring.” Spring corresponds to wood in Five Elements, so that the liver is
ascribed the attribute of wood.

Heart-fire: The physiologic characteristic of the heart is that it governs the blood vessels. It has the function of
propelling Qi and blood to warm and nourish the whole body. It is likened to the heat of summer, when the whole of
creation thrives. Summer corresponds to fire, and so the heart is ascribed the quality of fire.

Spleen-earth: The spleen’s physiologic characteristic is that it governs movement and transformation of the essence of
grain and water and is the basis of the formation of Qi and blood. It is associated with late summer and humid weather,
when the whole of nature is at its peak. Late summer corresponds to earth, so that the spleen is ascribed the attribute of
earth.

Lung-metal: The physiologic characteristic of the lung is that it thrives by purity and governs downbearing. It is likened
to the clear fresh air and purifying first frosts of autumn, when nature is withdrawing into itself. For this reason, it is
ascribed the attribute of metal.

Kidney-water: The kidney has the physiologic function of storing essence and of governing fluids. It is associated with
the bitter cold of winter, when nature is dormant.

The correspondences between five Elements and organ function clearly have adequate foundation. However, the
accumulated knowledge concerning the organs over the long history of Chinese medicine goes far beyond the confines
of Five Elements. For example, the liver not only governs upstirring and thrives by orderly reaching; liver Yin and liver
blood have a nourishing function for which the correspondence to wood cannot account. Similarly, the heart represents
not only the warming function and the strength of the heart’s Yang Qi, but also the nourishing, calming function of heart
Yin, which does not accord with the notion of fire. The functions of the stomach and spleen include not only formation
(of Qi and blood), but also upbearing effusion and free downflow, which are not entirely in keeping with the notion of
earth. The lung has not only the function of depuration, but also that of diffusion, which cannot be accounted for by the
notion of metal. Finally, the functions of the kidney include not only storing essence and governing water, but also
warming and propulsion of fluids which are not associated with the notion of water.
For these reasons, it is felt that the theory of Five Elements is incomplete and fails to embrace all the physiologic
functions of the five viscera. It is only through clinical practice and research that our understanding of the functions of
the organs can be increased and new breakthroughs accomplished.

Importance of acupressure in alternative therapy???\

---- Acupressure: A Safe Alternative Therapy : Acupressure is a safe and gentle alternative therapy used to relieve
symptoms from many common disorders. Unlike some forms of Western medicine, this therapy does not involve the use of any
invasive techniques. A skilled practitioner simply uses their thumbs and fingers (sometimes the elbow) to exert pressure to specific
body points. Acupressure is a safe and gentle alternative therapy used to relieve symptoms from many common disorders.
Acupressure is closely associated with other forms of Chinese medicine, such as acupuncture and shiatsu.
-Acupressure is an ancient form of massage that is one of the treatment methods used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The goal
of acupressure (as well as other Chinese Medicine treatments), is to encourage the movement of qi ("life energy") through the 14
channels (meridians) inside the body. These are the same energy meridians and acupoints as those targeted with acupuncture.
Chinese Medicine theory states that the constant flow of qi through these channels is essential for a person to keep their health. If
this energy flow is blocked, the body can no longer maintain the balance that is needed to maintain high energy and deal with
health issues.
Acupressure consists of pressing the acupuncture points in an attempt to help the free flow of energy in the channel(s).
Acupressure is similar to acupuncture, but the person uses their fingers instead of needles to work the point. During a treatment or
self treatment, a person will experience a slight pain when the proper acupuncture point is pressed.
Tuina is the most popular form of acupressure performed in China and is part of the training of most acupuncturists trained in the
United States. Other forms are shen tao, which uses very light pressure applied only with the fingertips, and a Japanese form,
anma, which has developed into a popular form now recognized as shiatsu.
The philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine originated about the year 600 BC when Taoism was developed; beliefs that center
on the human connection to nature. It is believed the changes in nature (ie, weather) impact human lives mentally, emotionally,
physically, and spiritually. Asian practitioners believe disease is caused by internal (emotional), external (weather), or other factors,
including trauma or an unhealthy lifestyle. Many changes impact the body on a daily basis and affect the flow of qi (pronounced
"chee"), or vital energy. Chinese medical theory sets forth to correct this balance and produce harmony within the body.
What is qi? :Unlike Western medicine that usually addresses a specific symptom or disease, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
views the entire body in terms of qi, its energy. When qi is flowing smoothly throughout the body, good health is enjoyed. However,
if this flow of energy is blocked (ie, from trauma), acupressure can release qi to work toward restoring the body's balance.

Qi flows through channels located near the surface of the body. Another name for channels is meridians, or meridian points. There
are 12 channels linked to specific organs, such as the liver, heart, and kidneys. Acupoints, or pressure points, are located on the
channels (meridians). When precise pressure is exerted onto an acupoint, the gate is opened and qi flows through.
Think of qi in terms of blood circulating continually throughout the body to sustain life. If blood flow is blocked or interrupted, the
affected part may starve from lack of oxygen and nutrients. The body responds by sending a warning signal in the form of
symptoms. Some of these symptoms might include pain, inflammation, muscle spasm, or tingling sensations.
How does acupressure work? : Acupressure works by placing pressure on specific points on the body to release qi.
Application of pressure requires precision because some 365 points are located on the major channels, plus there are over 650
individual pressure points. Similar to the circulatory system's network of vessels, each channel has a network of connections.
Different techniques are used to affect qi in the channels. These techniques include tonify, disperse, and calm. Weak qi would
require tonifying. Blocked qi would be dispersed, and overactive qi would be calmed.
The pressure administered is often held for several seconds to minutes. Pressure may be applied in circular movements, pushing
the acupoint in and out, or a combination. Although the points manipulated may be sensitive, acupressure should not be painful.
Depending upon the condition, treatment may be given every other day or a few times daily.
What conditions does acupressure treat?
Some conditions that benefit from acupressure include back pain, headache, fatigue, anxiety, stress and tension, feelings of
melancholy, and immune system deficiencies. Studies have shown that certain types of pain are linked with feelings of anxiety and
worry.
Although acupressure is not age-restrictive, people with high blood pressure and pregnant women should refrain from acupressure
therapy. There are specific acupressure points that can cause miscarriage. Acupressure is not used to treat open wounds, scar
tissue, varicose veins, or areas of inflammation or swelling. These problems can be treated in other ways utilizing TCM therapies
(ie, herbs, oils).

Often back and joint pain is simply caused by poor posture. The neck is especially susceptible due to head and neck range of
motion. Trauma can lead to soft tissue damage. Certain acupoints between the cervical spine (neck) and the top of the shoulder
when treated with acupressure relieve pain. When the flow of blood is enhanced, toxins are flushed away, and oxygen and healing
nutrients are provided.
The Benefits and Uses of Acupressure
Acupressure is often called acupuncture without the needles. Instead of needles, acupressure involves the application of manual
pressure (usually with the fingertips) to specific points on the body.
According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, the body has invisible lines of energy flow called meridians. There are
thought to be at least 14 meridians connecting our organs with other parts of the body. Acupuncture and acupressure points lie
on those meridians.
If the flow of energy (also called "chi" or "qi") is blocked at any point on a meridian, it's thought to cause various symptoms and
health conditions anywhere along the meridian. That's why a practitioner may apply pressure to an acupressure point on the foot
to relieve a headache.
There is no consensus on how acupressure might work. Some theorize that the pressure may promote the release of natural pain-
relieving chemicals in the body, called endorphins. Another theory is that the pressure may somehow influence the autonomic
nervous system.
Uses
Most people try acupressure for the first time to manage symptoms of a condition, such as:
 Cancer-related fatigue
 Headache
 Menstrual cramps
 Motion sickness
 Muscle tension and pain
 Nausea or vomiting after surgery or chemotherapy
 Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and morning sickness
 Stress management
Benefits
There's currently a lack of studies exploring the effectiveness of acupressure. Still, there's some evidence suggesting that wrist
acupressure may help to relieve pain after a sports injury. In a 2017 study published in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, for
instance, researchers examined the effects of three minutes of acupressure, three minutes of sham acupressure, or no
acupressure in athletes who had sustained a sports injury on the same day.
At the study's end, acupressure was found to be effective in reducing pain intensity compared to sham acupressure or no
acupressure. There was no change in anxiety.
Acupressure may help to ease nausea and vomiting in those with chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, according to a
report published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians. Researchers analyzed the results of three previously published trials and
found that acupressure (using finger pressure or an acupressure wristband) decreased nausea, vomiting, and retching.
In a report published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, scientists analyzed 22 previously published clinical trials
on acupuncture or acupressure for the induction of labor and found no clear benefit in reducing the cesarean section rate.
Acupressure can be very effective in helping with nausea and vomiting after surgery or invasive medical procedures. Acupressure
can also help in reducing the pain.
There has not been a lot of research done to document the benefits of acupressure, although there has been some. According to
the National Cancer Institute, several small studies have shown that acupressure has helped cancer patients by reducing cancer-
related fatigue and nausea. Many patients report acupressure has also helped with pain, stress and anxiety but there has not
been research done specifically with cancer patients documenting these results.
Acupressure should not be used as the only treatment for serious illness or chronic condition, but in addition to treatment by a
licensed physician.
A Typical Acupressure Session
Acupressure is often administered by an acupuncturist, with the person receiving the acupressure sitting or lying down on a
massage table.
Acupressure can also be self-administered. While it's best to consult an acupuncturist for proper instruction, acupressure is
generally done by using the thumb, finger, or knuckle to apply gentle but firm pressure to a point. The pressure is often increased
for about 30 seconds, held steadily for 30 seconds to two minutes and then gradually decreased for 30 seconds. It's typically
repeated three to five times.
The point "P6" can be found by turning the arm so that the palm is facing up. Place the thumb at the center of the crease of the
wrist (where the hand meets the wrist) and then position it two finger widths away from the crease towards the elbow. The point
is between the two large tendons.
Side Effects and Safety : Acupressure should never be painful. If you experience any pain, tell your therapist
immediately. After an acupressure session, some people may feel soreness or bruising at acupressure points. You may also feel
temporarily lightheaded.
Pressure should be gentle over fragile or sensitive areas, such as the face.
If you have a condition such as osteoporosis, recent fracture or injury, cancer, easy bruising, a bleeding disorder, heart disease,
uncontrolled blood pressure, diabetes, or are using anticoagulant or antiplatelet medications such as warfarin, you should speak
to your doctor before trying acupressure.
If you are pregnant, you should speak to your care provider before trying acupressure. Acupressure typically isn't done on the
abdomen or certain points on the leg or low back during pregnancy.
Acupressure shouldn't be done over open wounds, bruises, varicose veins, or any area that is bruised or swollen.

Significance of different colours in colour therapy

Colours play a major role in setting up a mood or state of mind and can deeply affect one’s feelings and emotions. Colour therapy
is additional therapy given along with the medical treatment to treat different ailments. The therapy is also called chronotherapy.
It is done by showing different colours and shining the appropriate colours on a particular area of the body. The results of the
colour therapy vary from person to person.
The main colours used in colour therapy are the same as the seven colours of a rainbow. Each colour has its own significance and
is related to a different chakra.
Violet
Violet colour can be used all over the body. The vibrations of violet colour are of high spiritual content and it would be a waste of
these wonderful vibrations if used below your hips. Violet light should be confined to the forehead, back and front of the head,
front and back of the neck and in concentrated form over the heart and between the shoulder blades for a total of fifteen
minutes.
Violet colour brings relaxation and stimulates the flow of subtle energies throughout the psychic centres and the nervous system.
Indigo
Indigo colour is a great purifier for the bloodstream and is also good for mental problems. The colour has a freeing and purifying
agent. Indigo is linked with and stimulates the brow chakra (third eye) and controls the pineal gland. Indigo colour can be of great
help in dealing with ailments of ears and eyes.
Blue
The colour can be applied from the top of the head to the feet. The colour helps in lowering the high blood pressure and in
dealing with nervous breakdown. Blue colour has high, short and quick vibrations and manifest cold. Blue colour helps people
sleep better. For people with severe insomnia, low voltage dark blue light in the bedroom has proven to be beneficial.
Green
The most basic colour used in all healings is green. The colour is always used first and last. No matter what you are treating, it
starts and finishes with green colour. Green colour is also one of the safest colours to use. The colour can be applied all over
yourself and can be concentrated to any part of the body. The colour is the colour of balance that harmonizes the flow of prana
or universal life force, throughout the psychic centres.
Yellow
Yellow colour signifies wisdom. Any type of mental issues can be relieved by using yellow colour. A concentrated beam of yellow
light about the size of a tennis ball when applied at the base and the front of the neck, has proven to be valuable for all types of
nervous conditions. The normal application time of the colour is twelve minutes.
Orange
Orange colour can be used on liver, kidney, heart, spleen or any other organ, which promotes good circulation. The total time of
application for the colour is ten minutes. People suffering from high blood pressure should not use this colour. The more
concentrated the colour, the more effective it will be.
Orange colour should not be used on the forehead of anyone who feels nervous. If the patient suffers from brain fatigue, the
colour can be used on the back of the neck but not for more than four minutes.
Red
Red colour should not be given on the head. But when concentrated on to rheumatic joints, it can be beneficial. Red colour can
be applied to legs, knees and ankles for ten-fifteen minutes.
The frequency of red colour is slow and long and has high penetrating properties. It can stimulate the aura to such an extent that
circulatory blockages can be cleared.
The infra-red rays should not be given over the reproductive organs of a man or a woman and neither they should be given for
more than two minutes on liver, kidneys or bladder as it can lead to some damage.

What is colour therapy? Does it really work?

Colour therapy, also called chromotherapy, is a method of treating ailments by using colours. The therapy is done by shining an
appropriate colour on the particular area of the body. It is also done through eyes by looking at a particular colour. Though this is
performed with utmost care so that there is no strain on the eyes.
Colour therapy is a complementary therapy and not an alternative to medical care. The results of the therapy vary from person to
person.
What does colour therapy do?
Colour therapy is a non-invasive and holistic treatment that brings balance and health to your mind and body. The vibrations of
the colour in colour therapy class improve your mood and overall health.
The basic idea of colour therapy
Colours are made up of reflected lights that hit our retinas as the wavelengths vibrate. Our brain interprets these wavelengths,
which ultimately makes our perception of colour as a physical and sensory experience.
Colour therapy is based on the idea that colours create an electrical impulse in our brain, which stimulates hormonal and
biochemical processes in our body. These processes either stimulate or calm us.
How to get started with colour therapy
There are as many colours in colour therapy sessions as there are colours in the rainbow. As you start with your colour therapy
session, your therapist will give you an analysis of all colours and ask you about the aspects of life in which you think these
colours can improve.
Many salons combine colour and aromatherapy. In some salons, you might even get a massage with different colours of light
being projected on your body to stimulate health and healing. Many spas also offer treatment in which they place different
colours of silk on different points of your body, which are said to control your mood and emotional well-being.
Different colours treat different ailments
The shades of colours used in your colour therapy session will vary depending upon the type of ailment you are trying to correct.
For example, blue or purple lights are anti-inflammatory and calming. Green colour helps to purify and cleanse, white and yellow
colour light stimulates the lymphatic system. Red light is invigorating but it may cause agitation if you are already tense.
According to Indian philosophy, the chakras are considered the centres of spiritual power and energy within our bodies. There are
seven chakras and different colours represent a different chakra:
- Red colour: The root chakra located at the base of the spine is represented by red colour. The chakra has to do with our
connection with the Earth.
- Orange colour: The Sacral Chakra, which is located 2 or 3 inches below the navel is represented by orange colour. This chakra is
said to be associated with reproduction, kidneys, adrenals and pleasure. The chakra is the mind-body chakra.
- Yellow colour: The solar plexus chakra is associated with liver, pancreas, digestive system, gallbladder, empowerment and well-
being. The chakra is located between the navel and sternum.
- Green colour: The colour represents the Heart Chakra. It’s associated with heart, lungs and immune system, energy, nervous
system, mental focus, compassion and empowerment.
- Blue colour: The chakra is associated with thyroid and metabolism and also with a peaceful expression.
- Indigo colour: The third eye chakra is located between the eyebrows. It is associated with the pituitary gland and pineal gland. It
influences our sleep cycle, clarity, wisdom, self-esteem and intuition.
- Violet colour: It is associated with the Crown Chakra and is located at the top of the head. It is associated with clarity, dreams,
spirituality, sleep cycles, dreams, pineal gland and light sensitivity.
Color Therapy - Chromotherapy
It has been known for eons of time that color plays a major role in setting up a particular mood or state of mind. Color does affect
one's feelings, moods, and emotions.
Colors are certain wavelengths of electro-magnetic energy seen through our eyes. The color we see is the part of the visible
spectrum that is reflected back by a certain object.
We know that when all colors join the result is white light. Therefore working with White Light brings about completeness,
oneness, union of all complementary parts.
How Colors Affect Us
Color is one of the languages of the soul, just look at inspired or meditative paintings.
They influence our mood and emotions.
They have their impact on our sense of well-being or un-easiness.
Using and avoiding certain colors is a way of self-expression; it sheds light on our personality.
Colors affect our way of perception (light colors make a space look big, a high ceiling looks less high when painted in a dark color,
etc.)
Colors have a symbolic meaning which is immediately recognized by our subconsciousness. It must be said that not all colors
mean the same to all persons and all cultures.
They influence the flow and amount of energy in our bodies.
Colors tell something about biological attraction and sexual availability.
Before examining color and its healing implications, we must address a very important concept: that of cause and effect. True
healing comes about when the cause of the condition or illness is addressed and transformed. If healing goes no further than a
mere relief or masking of the symptoms, then, eventually, that which brought about the need for healing, in the first place, will
resurface and manifest itself within the body in one form or another.

Body is an outward expression of that which is taking place within the mind, the soul (subconscious) , and the spirit
(superconscious) of the individual. Thus, any healing technique which deals only with the physical body and the energy field of
the individual tends to accomplish one thing: it jump starts the individual, so to speak, and gives him or her an added boost of
energy. That energy boost then allows that person's own internal healing mechanism to become mobilized into greater activity.

Keeping this in mind, let us look at how color can help jump-start the tired or diseased body. Color healing, known as
Chromotherapy, can be implemented in a number of ways. The ancients built great halls of color healing, where individuals
entered and were bathed in light that was filtered through various colored glass panels or windows.

Energy (spiritual) healers often supplement their healing work with color healing. As they lay their hands on the patient, they
mentally direct specific color rays into the patient's aura and body. Oftentimes, the color used is inspired by the superconscious.

In healing colors act as balancers: we administer the color(s) someone needs more of, or we give the opposite of the color
someone has too much of.
Color Chart
A preference for certain colors can point at two things:
self-expression (you choose the colors which match your personality; for instance green for a lover of harmony and nature)
completion (you choose the colors you need more of; for instance an active, passionate person chooses blue colors to cool down
his nature).
An aversion against certain colors gives information as well. Possible explanations are given in the chart.
Red
Healing properties: Brings warmth, energy and stimulation, therefore good for energy, fatigue, colds, chilly and passive people.
Red energizes heart and blood circulation, it builds up the blood and heightens a low blood pressure. Energizes all organs and the
senses hearing, smell, taste, vision and touch. Increases sexual desire and activity. Stimulates ovulation and menstruation. Never
treat cancer with red, because this color will stimulate cell growth!
Red links with and stimulates the root chakra, at the base of the spine, causing the adrenal glands to release adrenalin. This
results in greater strength. Red causes hemoglobin to multiply, thus increasing energy and raising body temperature. It is
excellent for anemia and blood-related conditions. It loosens, opens up clogs, releases stiffness and constrictions. It is excellent
for areas that have become stiffened or constricted.
Magic: Deities of love, passion, sexuality and war (to stimulate a healthy portion of assertiveness). Great energy, courage, will-
power, determination, speed, assertiveness, aggression, masculinity, independence, physical strength, sports, competition,
conflicts, health, sexual attraction and potency, love and passion, fertility.
Preference for Red: Red is associated with passionate love, sex, great energy, impulse, action and stimulation, assertiveness and
aggression, courage, strength and power, adventure, danger, warnings, revolt and revolution. Temperamental and ambitious
people with a need for personal freedom.
Aversion to Red: A person who has an aversion to red may be over-active, too impulsive, hot-tempered, aggressive and
egocentric, or have difficulties with people with such characteristics. It can also symbolize deeply hidden fears and rejection of his
own assertiveness.
Orange
Healing properties: Orange is warm, cheering, non-constricting. Orange has a freeing action upon the body and mind, relieving
repressions. Orange shows new possibilities and other options in life. Stimulates creative thinking and enthusiasm, and helps
assimilate new ideas. It is also helpful in dealing with excess sexual expression.
Orange stimulates the lungs, the respiration and the digestion. Increases the activity of the thyroid. Reliefs muscle cramps and
spasms. Increases the amount of mother milk.
Finally, orange links very strongly with the sacral chakra.
Magic: Deities of good luck and fortune. Attraction, charm, kindness, encouragement, stimulation, optimism, success, abundance,
prosperity, feast and celebration, energy, achieving business-goals, investments, success in legal matters.
Preference for Orange: Orange represents the warmth of the fire. It brings even more energy than yellow, celebration and great
abundance, comfort, enjoyment of the senses. Warm, sociable, dynamic and independent people who dedicate themselves to
whatever they do.
Aversion to Orange: A person who has an aversion to orange may have suppressed sexual feelings or other difficulties with
sensual enjoyment of life. The attitude can also be over-sensual, indulgent, or too materialistic.
Yellow
Healing properties: Yellow helps strengthen the nerves and the mind. It helps awaken mental inspiration and stimulates higher
mentality. Thus, it is an excellent color for nervous or nerve-related conditions or ailments. It also energizes the muscles. Dark
yellow soothes pains in the nerves (shooting pains)
Yellow can be used for conditions of the stomach, liver, and intestines. Speeds up the digestion and assimilation, and the stool.
It helps the pores of the skin and aids scarred tissue in healing itself.
Yellow links with and stimulates the solar plexus, or psychic center. It can be used for psychic burnout or other psychic-related
conditions or ailments. Activates and cheers up depressed and melancholic people. Gives lust for life.
Magic: Elemental air. Deities for trade, travel, knowledge and magick. Life-force, vitality, change, progress, contact,
communication, trade, commerce, to persuade with confidence, joy, cheerfulness, learning, knowledge, mental clarity,
concentration, memorizing, tests, speaking and writing, traveling, affirmation, visualization.
Preference for Yellow: The color of the sun, life-force, vividity, vitality and energy. The color of cheerfulness, curiosity,
alternation, flexibility, progress, amusement, contact through traveling and communication, learning and practical knowledge. A
feeling for writing and speaking.
Aversion to Yellow: A person who has aversion to yellow may be emotionally disappointed and bitter.May have tendency to
rationalize feelings, or to avoid the depth of life by often changing relationships, many superficial relationships and/or constant
changing activities.
Green
Healing properties: Green is the color of Nature and the earth. It is balance and harmony in essence and possesses a soothing
influence upon both mind and body. It is neither relaxing nor astringent in its impact.Green can be used for just about any
condition in need of healing.
Green rings psychological and emotional harmony and balance.
Green links with and stimulates the heart chakra.Green affects blood pressure and all conditions of the heart. It has both an
energizing effect and a moderating or soothing effect.
It cures hormonal imbalances. Stimulates growth hormone and rejuvenation. Cleans and purifies from germs, bacteria and rotting
material. Harmonizes the digestion, stomach, liver, gall. Has a healing effect on kidneys. Increases immunity. Builds up muscles,
bones and tissues. Stimulates inner peace. Strengthens the nervous system.
Magic: Elemental earth (dark green) and elemental water (blue-green). Nature, fertility, growth, rejuvenation, recovering,
healing, harvest and abundance, prosperity, harmony, balance, peace, hope, mother earth, home, herbal magick, plants and
animals, counteract greed and jealousy.
Preference for Green: Green brings peace, rest, hope, comfort and nurturing, calmness and harmony. Interest in nature, plants,
fellowmen, children and animals, health and healing, natural and plain life. Longing for a safe home and family-life. A dislike of
conflicts.
Aversion to Green: A person who has an aversion to green may be more interested in independence and self-development than
in a warm family-life. May prefer to keep a certain distance in (sexual) relationships.
Blue
Healing properties: Blue is cooling, electric, astringent. Dr. Edwin Babbitt, in his classic, "The Principles of Light and Color," states
that "The Blue Ray is one of the greatest antiseptics in the world."
Cools down inflammations (don't forget rheumatic inflammations), fever, high blood pressure, stops bleedings, reliefs the
bursting headaches, calms strong emotions like anger, aggression or hysteria. Brings tranquility. Anti-itching. Anti-irritation (for
instance redness of the skin), anti-stress. Soothes suffering.
Blue can be used for any type of ailments associated with speech, communication, or the throat. Excellent forlaryngitis or

Using colour to balance the Chakras of the body

Each of the spectrum colours is simply light of varying wavelengths, thus each colour has its own particular energy.

The energy relating to each of these spectrum colours resonates with the energy of each of the seven main chakras of the body.

If you can imagine the chakras/energy centres as a set of cogs/wheels, they are rather like the workings of a clock or an engine;
each cog /wheel needs to move smoothly and at a similar speed for the clock/engine to work properly. Thus good health and well
being is achieved by a balance of all these energies (or the smooth running of the cogs/wheels).

Colour therapy can help to re-balance these 'wheels' by applying the appropriate colour to the body and therefore re-balance our
chakras. Listed below is each of the spectrum colours and the chakra which it relates to. Violet has the shortest wavelength and
red the longest wavelength.

Ayurvedic acupressure
Ayurvedic acupressure (also known as Marma therapy)[1] is a particular kind of massage or an alternative medical treatment, which integrates
the knowledge of ancient Ayurveda and the principles of acupressure, allegedly to completely heal and cure physical, mental, emotional and
spiritual illnesses.[2]
According to Charaka Samhitā, an early text on Ayurveda, the cosmos and its correspondence – the human body, are composed of both physical
(Visible) and metaphysical (Invisible) forces.
Ayurvedic acupressure talks about 10 elements – 5 physical and 5 metaphysical.
 5 elements(not exactly elements but like forms of matter exists in our body and environment) or Panch Tatva: – Electricity or flow of charges (not
space as it does not exist in our body and environment), Air, Fire, Water and Earth.
 5 metaphysical elements: – Time, Direction, Mind, Soul and Tam (Origin).
In Ayurveda the pressure points or the meridians are called Marma points. [3] These are considered as energy points, just as Chinese refer them
as pressure points, and they help in stimulating not only circulation, but also improve mental and emotional outlook. The Marma points are located
throughout the body.
Treatment in Ayurvedic Acupressure can be easily done without needles by:
 Applying pressure with finger
 Seeds
 Magnets
 Colours
Ayurvedic Acupressure
The Subtle body describe a subtle physiology having a number of focal points connected by a series of channels. This kind of medical
treatment is also known as Marma Therapy and involves the 10 elements, physical and metaphysical. So, Ayurvedic Acupressure is the
energy pathways for healing body, mind, and consciousness with knowledge of Ayurveda. And, a 3,000 years old Vedic text, the Suchi
Veda, incorporates for the first time the Ayurvedic Acupuncture as another Ayurvedic system. But, it has been practiced as an accessory
therapy since it was used in conjunction with other forms to effect healing. And the instruments for applying pressure on the reflex zones
of the body are various. As the acuball, the energy roller, foot roller or krupa chakra, power mat, spine roller and the Teishein.
Marma Points of Ayurveda
The Marma points are an important element of Ayurveda’s healing power. So, the studies of this points come from India centuries ago.
And these energy points affect the body, mind, and spirit and ease the deepest levels of healing. Besides, by receiving the name of energy
points, these pressure points help in stimulating not only circulation but also improve the mental and emotional outlook. Throughout the
body are all the Marma points. The Prana is the current of energy that infuses every cell within the body. The Ayurvedic Acupressure
stimulates marmani or energy points directly taps into this reservoir of energy and promotes health. This work is the first of its kind to
present all 117 marmani according to their individual energetics and to compare them with the Chinese system of acupuncture points.
Hence, the marma therapy integrates vital knowledge of the energy points with specific techniques of Ayurvedic massage. And this vital
knowledge of the points reveals how to do detoxification, acupressure, aromatherapy, yoga practices, meditation and more.
Doshas in the Ayurvedic Acupressure
Pitta and Kapha, the doshas. These doshas support the meridians or marma points. But, the therapy restore the imbalance of the ten
elements in the human body with the aid of an entirely newly created set of meridians and their points. So, the ten elements are
represented on the ten fingers of the two hands and similarly on the ten toes of the two feet.
Hence, Ayurvedic acupressure talks about 10 elements:
5 physical elements: Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.
5 metaphysical elements: Time, Direction, Mind, Soul and Tam (Origin).
So, there are thirty basic ayurvedic meridians on each finger and toe including thumb and big toe. That makes it 300 basic meridians on
the two hands and 300 basic meridians on the two feet, a total of 600 basic meridians. And, each meridian has ten points corresponding to
the ten elements, thus giving us 6000 points. Also, the combination of various basic Marma Points develops many secondary meridians.
That give us more meridians and points running into thousands. In the Ayurvedic Acupressure, we can see that the treatment is done with
the help of 14 main meridians only. Hence, the therapy is quite simple and its intricacies can be picked up in a few months as opposed to
many years that it takes to get knowledge of allopathic or other alternate medicines.
Effectivity of Ayurvedic Acupressure
The therapy is effective, and without side effects, has the potential to revolutionize medical treatment around the world. The organization
Sansthan spreads the awareness of this therapy. And thanks to this, has extended and its reach to all parts of India and rest of the world
for the good of the suffering humanity. Hence, other places have healed through the hands and Ayurvedic massages. As we do in our
Ayurveda Retreats, our therapies of Ayurvedic Acupressure harmonize the body’s vital energy by working on the Governing and
Conception Vessels, the mother, and father of all the meridian pathways. And, it can reach depths within you when an Acupressure point
is hold with just the right amount of pressure. This can help you transcend the limitations and traps of negative thoughts and feelings. All
this, instead of closing up in judgment, worry, doubt, or expectation, you can begin to relax and open up. Using this therapy balances
your hormones. Also, the chakra centers of your brain to bring more harmony and beauty into your life.
