Voice of Part time teacher (tailoring)

I, K.Soosaiyammal Rani, have been working as a part time tailoring teacher in Government
High School, Mutharasanallur since 06.03.12

'To know a handicraft is to be with no worry', says a Tamil proverb. In that way, the
students are really happy in having tailoring classes in their school.

I am teaching tailoring accordingly to the student's class grade. Tailoring helps the students
develop knowledge, habits and talent. They also learn to admire and feel beauty in
everything they do. Creativity, thoughtfulness and self-confidence grows for the children.

The students have learnt various techniques and stitches like the Chatspin herringbone
stitch, embroidery, magic giant stitch, illustrated embroidery and more.

They have stitched a hand kerchief and done an embroidery on it. I have taught them to
stitch and make cloth bags, woolen flowers, garland design.

I also teach them other crafts like making phone stands, swings using ice cream sticks,
button stitching, flower making using color papers and fish wire designs.

learning through demonstration has made the children happy and excited to learn.

So, part time teachers should be made permanent staff for the benefit of the students.
Voice of student (Physical education)

I, T. Namitha , am a student in GHS Mutharasanallur studying in the 9th standard.

In my school we have physical education classes and we are trained to play sports.

The teacher identifies our talents and coaches us in that particular sport. Small competitio
ns are held within our school, and this gives us confidence and excitement to play the game.

I have participated in the Small circle district level competition in Trichy and won a prize. I
have learnt discipline, self motivation, tolerance and perseverance through my sport. I have
been energetic, and in high spirits since i started playing my sport.

In my school we have yoga classes twice a week and it gives us inner peace. Also several
other games like kho-kho, kabbadi, football, carrom, chess and running are taught. We have
group exercise sessions every Friday.
Voice of parent (Drawing)

I, Vasanthi am a parent of my child Sridhar who is studying in 6th standard in GHS

Mutharasanallur. In my child's school drawing classes are being held and my child is being
benefited from it. He has been having these classes from childhood and that has helped him
develop an interest towards art.

The school also teaches him to learn scientific concepts of water management,
afforestation, fish culture and others through drawing activities. Other subjects like math
and social are also taught through art in his school. We find this method to be efficient and
my child has understood all the concepts clearly and scoring good marks.

Competitions were held in his school, where they were asked to draw posters on water
saving, ozone layer depletion, etc. My child even won a prize in the competition. This event
was covered in the Dhinathanthi Tamil newspaper and i was filled with joy seeing my
child's photo in it.

Also the students in the school have painted their school compound walls very beautifully.
