Summary of Experience
Just a brief background on what PHILCONSTRUCT
is all about; it is flaunted as the leading and biggest expo of
its kind in the Philippines. PHILCONSTRUCT has been
defining the landscape of building and construction in the
country for over two decades. It now serves as the annual
meeting place for the industry’s movers and shakers,
gathering hundreds of the leading suppliers and thousands of
trade buyers in one venue. The event is organized by the
Philippine Construction Association, Inc. (PCA), the leading
organization in building and construction whose members are
responsible for over 70% of all construction projects in the
country (PHILCONSTRUCT 2019).
The event that I’ve attended on Saturday, 9th of
November, 2019, was entitled as “30 YEARS OF
PHILCONSTRUCT”. PHILCONSTRUCT has its schedule of events that were conducted on different
sites on the country, mainly, Cebu (June 6 to 8, 2019), Davao (September 6 to 8, 2019), and Manila
(November 7 to 10, 2019). The expo happened in Manila was located at SMX Manila & World Trade
Center.
Before going to the said event, I’ve read and conducted some research about the
PHILCONSTRUCT as well as the process of the whole event because honestly this would be the first
time I’d attending such building and construction industry expo. I have found out that if you registered via
online or thru their website (www.philconstructevents.com) before 31st of October, visitor would be given
a free 1-day pass. Since our professor, Ar. Casupanan, instructed us (his class) on 8th of November to
attend the said event, we’ve already missed the chance of the free 1-day pass.
Moving forward, my fellow classmates and I registered first at around 9 o’clock in the morning at
the World Trade Center. The registration fee for the student was only P100.00. You’ll have to present
your school ID’s then the event staffs would assist you to the registration booth for you to have your
printed event’s IDs. And I think P100.00 was fair enough and affordable for students like us.

After they have provided us our PHILCONSTRUCT IDs,

we’ve started looking for different building and construction
industry company booths
that may help us or can
give us new building ideas
and technologies for our
thesis proposals.
After we have visited the variety of
booths which are brands/ and or
companies from different countries, we also
collected brochures, leaflets and items that
are related to architectural field and our
thesis proposals.
We also took part on some of the
interactive games of various firms that are
intended for visitors like us. I can simply
say that those were their own ways or
marketing strategies to have visitors,
guests, contractors, or anyone in the event
to patronize their own product.
Fortunately, I won the hourly
raffle draw of Wilcon Depot and had the
chance to win this magnetic phone
stand. Hence, we’ve also took this
opportunity to invest on some
architectural magazines that were sold
on a cheaper and affordable price.
