DRRR Reflection #2: What is volcano and its hazards?

A volcano is type of land form that is usually a cone-shaped mountain or hill that opens a
pool of molten rocks below the surface of the Earth. It is named next to the roman god
blacksmith named ‘Vulcan’. It is formed when the magma reaches the Earth’s surface,
causing eruptions of lava and ash that occurs at constructive and destructive plate
boundaries. The lava coos down after, forming a new crust. The eruption will occur several
times, the rock builds up and a volcano forms. The parts of a volcano are: magna chamber,
vents and crater. The magma chamber contains magma inside the Earth. Vents are the
passageways for the magma to escape. There are two types of vents: the main vent and
secondary vent. Main vents are the main passageways of magma, while the secondary vents
are the smaller passageways for magma to escape. The crater is created after an eruption
blows off the top of 7volcano. There are factors that help determine how violent a volcanic
eruption: 1. Its magma composition, 2. Temperature of the magma, and 3. The amount of
dissolved gases contained in the magma. There are three types of volcano: Composite,
Cinder Cone and Shield volcano. Composite volcanoes are the steep sided volcanoes that
are formed from ash and lava flow. Eruptions from this type of volcano are usually
pyroclastic flows. Cinder cone volcanoes are the simplest type of volcanoes, which is
formed from the lava particles that are emitted on a vent. As the lava is spewed up in the
air, it fragments into small pieces, and then solidifies and falls as cinders around the vent.
Shield volcanoes are formed by continuous lava flows coming from the vent, which creates
a shield slapping flat cone. Volcanic hazards are the phenomena occurring from a volcanic
activity that may pose a threat to person or property at a period of time. The hazards
involving a volcanic eruption are: Ash falls, lava flows, pyroclastic flows, ash plumes, debris
avalanche, ballistic projectiles, and tsunami. These volcanic hazards could be dangerous, as
it may affect humans, directly or indirectly. And without knowledge about these hazards,
we may be put into an ‘unavoidable’ danger. Mount Pinatubo’s 1991 is very destructive in
terms of properties, but because of the early warning given by the authority, there are less
lives to be taken away. Truly, disasters are destructive in properties and could probably
manipulate our essential resources from the nature by the destruction, but it would not
take our lives if, and only if we are aware of the incoming danger around us. Nature could
make, or break lives, and volcano is one of that natural land forms that has power to make
and take away lives at the same time.
DRRR Reflection #2: What is volcano and its hazards?

Taal Volcano is not our main topic but when the picture of it pop up in the power point and
shows the exact location of Taal Volcano i felt something different although i knew where is
the volcano there, it is important to all learners especially in the early stage to know the
real Tall Volcano to avoid being ignorance and mislabeling. For our last topic I learned a lot
about volcanoes not just their location also about the danger and casualty that they can
cause and even the things that they have done before. Lava Flows are stream-like flows of
incandecent molten rock or a mass of flowing or solidified lava it is rare that lava flows can
be a cause for a death or threatened humans unlike in other movies featuring volcanoes
showing a intense flowing lava. Yes, lava flows can burn everything on its path but it cant
be a mass murderer. Ash consists of tiny jagged particles of rock and natural glass blasted
into the air by a volcano it can clogs fliters, motors even human lungs. Lahar is a destructive
mudflow on the slopes of a volcano imagine if a single flood can cause a casualty how about
a mud flood it can bury communities even a lot of human beings. Pyroclastic Flows and
surges is a dense, destructive mass of very hot ash, lava fragments, and gases ejected
explosively from a volcano it can destroy and burn everything on its path it can be a mass
murderer at the same time. The important thing that i have learn yesterday is be ready
everytime and anywhere because no one can predict when those hazardous scenarios
will came
