Inauguration - Gandhi Memorabilia Exhibition

INAUGURATED BY Hon’ble Former President, DR.A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM ON JUNE
6TH 2012 AT VIVEKANANDA AUDITORIUM, ANNA UNIVERSITY CAMPUS –
CHENNAI.

Gandhi World Foundation is a Non – Political, Non Profitable and Social Service
Organisation. It is a duly registered Trust with the main object of spreading the
teachings and messages of Mahatma Gandhiji among the younger generation.
The registered office of the Trust is situated in New Gummidipoondi, Tiruvallur
District, Tamil Nadu. A wide range of Mahatma Gandhiji’s collection of stamps,
coins, currencies, postal covers, special covers, tokens and telephone cards issued
by many countries in the world are in the possession of our Trust. We also pos-
sess many rare photos of Mahatma Gandhiji, Newspapers published by Ma-
hatma Gandhiji, Manuscripts and various information about Mahatma Gandhiji .Mahatma Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inaugurates
Gandhi Memorabilia Exhibition
Gandhiji is the only tall leader in this entire world and has been bestowed with rare honour in Chennai on 6th June 2012
since more than 120 Countries have issued Stamps by displaying his photo and whose stat-
ues have been erected in more than 70 Countries across the world.
The exhibition was inaugurated on June 6th 2012 by Hon’ble Former President, Dr. A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam. Dr. P. MannarJawahar, Vice Chancellor, Anna University also spoke during
the time of exhibition inauguration. Shri. Kalyanam, Personal Secretary to Mahatma Gandhi
(1944-1948) was felicitated by Dr. Abdul Kalam during the exhibition inauguration.

Dairy - by Kolkata GPO

KOLKATA GPO has released a diary for the financial year 2011- 12, dedicated to 150
years of SWAMI VIVEKANANDA, with some rare photographs, extremely rare label, cele-
brating 100 years of Vivekananda with lot of philatelic materials. Souvil Roy from Kolkata
has contributed with the philatelic material. The diary is available for sale from 21 JUNE
2012 at Philatelic counter, Kolkata GPO.

Thailand - 2013
THAILAND 2013, International Philatelic exhibition will be held in Thailand from 2 to 14
August 2013 in Bangkok, under the patronage of FIP. The World Philatelic Exhibition will
take place from 2 - 14 August 2013

LEHFILMPEX - 2012

LEHFILMPEX-2012, a philatelic exhibition on CINEMA, was organ-

ized by India Post, Chief PMG Jammu and Kashmir Circle as a
part of Ladakh International Film Festival. In this exhibition Shri
Dipok Dey displayed 46 frames 736 pages from his Cinema
Collection. J & K Postal Circle issued 3 special covers, a set of
Picture Postcards, and Two stamp booklets, with My Stamps.

Stamps of Past : Indian Heritage in Philately : Updates

A Stamp Exhibition on Indian Monuments, Museums, Paintings and other historical items on philately has been organized by
Archeological Survey of India in collaboration with India Post at New Delhi. The Subject of the Exhibits includes Indian Cultural
Heritage, Monuments, Museums, Coins, Antiquities and other related stamp and material telling a story about India and its
culture. This exhibition is a part of 150 years of ASI in India. The venue for the exhibition is Red Fort New Delhi and will be
there for 2 months. 20 frame exhibit is given by India Post, and about 20 frames by Indian Philatelists.

IPHLA - 2012 : Specialized International Exhibition
for Philatelic Literature
IPHLA 2012 : A specialised exhibition for Philatelic Literature is going to be held from 2 to 4
Nov.2012 in the town hall of Mainz (Germany). This exhibition will be held under the patron-
age of FEPA & AIJP but some non European countries are also invited by them and India is
also one of them.

Cultural and Historical Study of Japan
These are the Miniature Gateways to Japan. Every stamp, be it of Smiling Women in Ki-
mono, Sumo Wrestlers or Japanese Flora and Fauna, on display at ABK-AOTS DOSAKAI’s
Centre at Aminjikarai at the four-day stamp exhibition that opened on 29th June 2012, mir-
rors the lifestyle, culture and history of Japan.

Jagannath Mani, have endeavored to exhibit their lifelong work in the Garden City itself.
Proposal turned to reality when the Chief Post Master General, Karnataka Circle, accorded
her approval for the conduct of the “Olymphilex 2012 – India” exhibition at the General
Post Office from 27th July to 5 August, 2012. About 40 frames are expected to be dis-
played by four major budding Olympic Philatelists and a few sport philatelists, including the
veteran T.N Prahalad Rao, an octogenarian but with an enthusiasm of a 20 year old.
CPMG Approved Special Cover
The release of a special cover with a special cancellation approved by the CPMG Karna-
taka Circle on 27th July, the inaugural day of the summer Olympics, is scheduled with the
Department of Youth Services and Sports, Govt of Karnataka sponsoring the same.

London Olympics 2012

The 2012 Olympics take place in London, England, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. London
will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having
previously done so in 1908 and in 1948. The majority of venues will be divided across Lon-
don and use will be made of some partially new and temporary venues and structures. The
SHEETLET ON stated goal is not to leave "white elephants", i.e. large structures that no one will be using
after the Games.
SHEKHAWATI The Olympic Stadium and the Olympic Village will be situated in Stratford East London
PAINTING AND where the expropriation of older buildings, which might be demolished, has sparked contro-
versy. The Olympic Stadium is designed to accommodate 80,000 visitors for the opening
WARLI PAINTING and closing celebrations of the Games. It will then be converted into a 25,000 seat sports
RELEASED BY stadium. Certain sports, such as sailing, will take place outside London. The soccer tourna-
ments will be played on famous soccer fields in Scotland and England.
