Self Introduction

Konnichi wa! I’m so happy to be with all of you here today. It’s a pleasure. I’m Rhea Mae
B. Sadora. 17 years old. I’m from Cebu Philippines. I’m an incoming grade 12 student of Tingub
National High School taking an ABM strand (Accountancy Business and Management). I want to
become an entrepreneur. In my free time I usually read science fiction and fantasy stories and
novels. I am also an active volunteer in our church. I love traveling in the beautiful beaches of
Cebu and mountainous areas together with my family and friends. We are four in the family. I
have one sibling and I am the younger daughter. My father is a company driver and my mother is
a housewife. At my tender age, I want to widen further my knowledge about financial literacy as
this will help me and my family in having a more progressive and secure life.
I’m very much thankful to the directors of FALIA Mr. Yoshitaka and Toru for this trip
and I’m looking forward to learn the unique culture and tradition of Japanese and to visit great
places in Japan. Arigatōgozaimasu.

School System
Philippine has recently adopted the k-12 program. We studied 6 years in elementary and 6
years in high school including k-12 (4 years in junior high and 2 years in senior high). We use
English language since on our elementary years. In fact, this is used in our math and science
subjects. We use also our national language and recently, we use our own dialect until in the 3 rd
grade. We have private and public schools. I am in a public school and I’m now in my 11th grade.

Culture
Filipinos value family the most. Everything they do are in connection with their families.
They are close with every family member. This may be also the reason why they have extended
families. Though they have already their own family or they are in legal age, they are still leaving
in their parent’s abode. Since they are born in this world, their family taught them to respect the
elders like saying po and opo. They have also pagmamano. Filipinos are very resilient. Despite of
what they are going through, they still manage to smile and get themselves up from the fall. We
also have what we called BAYANIHAN. This is helping others without expecting anything in
return. Filipinos are also religious. They go to church every Sunday or sometimes twice a week.
They also do Rosary Prayers every day. They are very hospitable. They warmly welcome anyone
in their homes.
Tourist Spots
Philippines have may beautiful tourist spots. One of those is the Banaue Rice Terraces.
This is a ladder form planted with rice by tribes. We also have beaches suchlike in Palawan and
there are many more particularly in Cebu. We have Malapascua Island which is perfect for relaxing
and picture takings. We also have Botanding in Moalboal or the whale sharks. If you are looking
for a church, we have the Basilica Del Sto. Nino church which is the oldest Roman Catholic church
in the Philippines.
Foods
Filipinos love eating. This is one way of our bonding. One of the famous foods in the
Philippines are sinigang and adobo. But there are also delicious Delicacies in Cebu such as
Bibingka. Budbod, Chicharon, Hopia, Dried mangoes, and many others. You can make this on
your own and add your own style and flavor if you want. We also have lechon and hanging rice
which really complement with each other.
Religion
Philippines is known as a Christian country. Almost all Filipinos are Christians which
means they believe in their Jesus Christ. We believe that there is only one God in three persons.
There are also some who believe in Allah specifically Muslims. Muslims are also Filipino.
