Instructions for the Hardware Labs Comprehensive Examination

 Each student has been allotted a time to appear for the examination
 No make-up is available for this component.
 Syllabus for the labs includes knowledge of all IC’s used in the class across all sections.
Data sheets and pin outs for the relevant IC’s will be available in the lab during the
examination.
 This component is OPEN BOOK/OPEN NOTES
 No mobile phones or computers will be permitted in the lab during your examination
 You will be provided with a sheet on which you will have to show the circuit diagram.
Please do not write anywhere else in the exam except on the answer sheet. The
completed answer sheets will be kept back in the lab and will not be distributed.
 Answers written only in blue/black ink will be evaluated. Anything written in pencil will
not be graded.
 The duration of this component is 1h 50min. Students need to ensure that they get
graded before this time period is over. Time management is the student’s responsibility.
You can leave the lab early if you have finished and have been graded.
 This component is worth 10% of your grade. Examination will be for 20 marks.
 No partial marking on this component. Students are expected to show the right circuit
on the answer sheet and demonstrate the output on LEDs or seven-segment display
based on the question, to qualify for marks.
 It is the responsibility of the student to check that all breadboards, power supplies, ICs,
switches etc. are working fine. The student is also responsible for managing his/her time
to prepare for any hardware bugs that he/she might encounter during the examination.
No requests for extra time will be entertained.
 No TA’s will be available during the exam. Students are expected to work individually.
 As with every other evaluation component in this class, high level of personal integrity is
expected from students. Malpractice of any form will be dealt in the strictest way.
