Flagman
Definition:- When traffic flow is going to be interrupted
for what ever reason a flagman with a red flag (stop)
and green flag (go) is required to control flow of traffic,

it may be necessary to have two flagmen to ensure the
directions are clear from both sides of any obstruction.

RESPONSIBILITY
• Flagmen are responsible for the control
of heavy equipment reversing in
congested / restricted areas where
t ainiing
g
there is always the risk of heavy
equipment
q p striking g someone.
• Flag man will be identified by wearing
a yellow color HI-VI vest.

Rules and Regulations
As per Saudi Kayan ITB standards the following rules and
regulation should be implemented inside Saudi Kayan
Complex:

truck shall be assisted by qualified and competent
flagman to watch the blind spot and give direction to the
operator / driver while maneuvering (One flagman for
each equipment).
• If the flagman is not available for any reason the
equipment should stop operating / reversing and wait

until presence of the flagman is available.


• Traveling equipment in the main road of Saudi Kayan
Complex in forward direction with safe speed and hook
secured for hydraulic crane does not require flagman
except for slow moving equipment such as fork lift,
loader mini-loader
loader, mini loader, excavator
excavator, track mounted / crawler
equipment, and etc.
Rules and Regulations
• Flagman should be assigned in all congested and heavy
traffic in the respective EPC’s Area. Within work
interface the responsible EPC of the traffic jam or
narrow road should be the one to install flagman.

• Flagman should be provided with whistle, red reflective
vest, green and red color flags or reflective GO and
STOP signs. For night work red and green glow stick
should be provided in order to control traffic during dark
hours ..

at least a simple English.

• Wet down the adjacent area by water hose
with shut off nozzle prior to welding.

• After welding or cutting stopped FW will stay
half hour & may wet area, visual inspection of
sparks.
• FW wears colored vest for identification
