computer hardware servicing.

B. Performance Standard: The Learner Independently uses of hand tools and equipment for computer hardware
servicing.

C. Learning Competencies: Prepare hand tools and equipment for computer hardware servicing.

D. Specific Objective:
1.Name the different hand tools and equipment used in CHS
2. Classify the hardware tools and equipment based on their uses.
3. Give the importance of hardware tools and equipment in CHS

II. CONTENT : Different hand tools and Equipment used in CHS

III. LEARNING RESOURCES :

b. Checking of Attendance

A Reviewing Previous lesson or presenting new lesson

What do you expect to learn in Computer system Servicing?
Can anyone be a technician?

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson

Show picture

What can you say about these pictures?

Can you describe what is doing in the picture?
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new lesson
(The teacher will now present the new lesson.)
This lesson will make you become familiar with different hand tools that technician used when
doing some equipment operation.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills no.1

Uses hand tools

Unlocking of difficulties:
1. Tool - is a handheld device that aids in accomplishing a task.
2.Parts organizer- use to hold screw, jumpers, fasteners and other small part.
3. Loopback Adapter- Used to test the functionality of computer ports.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills no.2

What are the uses or functions of the following hardware tools? ( Show the power point presentation.)

A. Electro-static discharge or ESD tools

1. Anti- Static wrist strap - used to prevent ESD

damage to computer equipment.

2.

Anti- Static mat- use to stand on or place hardware on

to prevent static electricity from building up.

B. Hand Tools

1.

Flat head screw driver.- used to loosen or tighten slotted

screws.

2.

Philip head screw driver- used to loosen or tighten cross

head screws.

3.

Torx driver-use to loosen or tighten screws that have a

star like depression on the top, a feature
that is mainly found on laptop
4

Hex driver- sometimes called a nut driver, is used to tighten nuts in the same way that a screw driver tighten
screws

5.

Needle - Nose- plier- used to hold small parts.

6.
Wire cutter- used to strip and cut wires.

7
Tweezers-used to manipulate small parts7.Part retriever-
used to retrieve parts from location that are too small for your hand to fit.

8.
Part retriever-used to retrieve parts from location that are too small for your hand to fit.

CLEANING TOOLS

1. Lint -free cloth- used to clean different computer

components without scratching or leaving debris.

2. Compressed air -used to blow away dust and debris from different computer parts without touching the
components.

3 Cable ties- used to bundle cables neatly inside and

outside of a computer.

4.
Part organizer- use to hold screw, jumpers, fasteners and other small parts and prevents them from getting
mixed together.
DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS

1.Multi meter- used to test the integrity of circuits and the quality of electricity in computer components.

2. Loopback adapter- used to test the functionality of computer ports.

F. Developing mastery (Leads to Formative Assessment 3)

How any of the given tools classified as ESD Tools, hand Tools, Cleaning Tools, and diagnostic Tools.
Why do you think we should study this hard ware tools

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living

General Instructions:

Group the class into three:

 Group I- will be given manila paper with pictures for the students to identify.
Choose the labels posted on the board for them to
match with the pictures.
 Group II- will give the function of each tool that will be given to them.
 Group III- will list the various tools that can be found in their home.
 Each group will be given 5 minutes to do the activity.

The first group to finish with their task will be declared as winner

H. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson

 How many of the given tools were classified as ESD, hand tools, Diagnostic Tools, and Cleaning Tools?
 If we were consider the works of engineers, computer programmers and medical practitioners, how would it
affect them if they don’t have tool ,while they perform their jobs.?
 Can we say that these hardware tools are important to the computer in performing their activities? Why?

I.Evaluating learning
Multiple Choice
Direction: Identify hardware tools and equipment according to function and task requirement. Choose the letter
of the correct answer.
