THE RATIO RATE OF THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE (TSH) AND FREE T4 (FT4)

BETWEEN IMMUNOASSAY FLUORESCENCE METHOD (FIA) AND IMMUNOASSAY

ELECTROCHEMILUMINESCENCE METHOD (ECLIA)

Background

Both diagnostic and monitoring therapy for hypetiroid cases can be determined by examining

TSH hormone levels and FT4. There are several examination methods, namely the FIA method

and the ECLIA method. Handling of patients is needed by a tool that is able to carry out

examinations in large numbers and a short time, namely Nano Entek FREND. Based on the

background, the researcher wants to know the difference in TSH and FT4 levels in the FIA

method and the ECLIA method.

Method

This study used an analytic observational cross sectional design on 45 serum samples of
hyperthyroid patients during the January-March 2019. The TSH and FT4 levels were examined
using the FIA (NANO ENTEK FREND) method and the ECLIA method (Cobas e601 Roche),
then a statistical tests was performed to find out the difference in FT4 and TSH levels between
the two methods.

Result

The results on 45 samples obtained average of TSH levels of the FIA method is 0.63 and TSH
levels of the ECLIA method is 0.60. The average of FT4 level of the FIA method is 1.69 and the
average FT4 level of the ECLIA method is 1.67. The independent t-test results of TSH levels in
both methods were obtained by 0.639 and FT4 levels in both methods were obtained by 0.745
Conslusion

The result is there was no significant difference between TSH and FT4 levels in the ECLIA
method and the FIA method
