Both my childhood desire, background and commitment to exert efforts for contribution are why I can

be chosen for YSEALI . I believe in the power of collaboration and this life changing trip would make a
big difference from what I have achieved so far. I was born in a small city where children at my ages did
not have many opportunities to learn English. Therefore, I always apply myself to help my neighbors
doing so . To fulfill that dream, I have joined many organizations and immersed myself in voluntary
activities in my hometown to learn more about English skills , life lessons as well as leadership skills. As
the Third-prize winner in the Debating contest “ the Power of Connect” hosted by University of
Wollongong and Gia Viet English Center , I have been empowered to even dig deep into making my
voice heard of issues that are alarming on a national scale especially that happening in the Southeast
Asia . This also encourages me a lot to step further to join ASEAN conferences and share not only my
dream but also Vietnamese cultures and traditions with theirs.

In YSEALI, I would like to share my ideas and experiences that I did before with my AIESEC- Initiative
Group and my students : encouraging them to learn English and dare to step out of their comfort zone
to join voluntary activities in my own city. In fact, Few of my members and students are given chances
to join some activities such as going to the outskirts of town to help the underprivileged to learn
English, visit orphanages and so on. Moreover, throughout these times , it dawned on me that visual
images are remarkably effective to spread powerful messages. Therefore, I am determined to organize
an influential channel addressing education issues in Vietnam. This initiative is expected to convey the
message of stepping out English barriers and comfort zone to reach the world. Being chosen by the
YSEALI program is the great chance for me to meet many people having great ideas to better their
community. We all share ideas and from that we might integrate with each other to widen the
organizations, for example, helping ASEAN youth. After this trip back to my hometown, I would have
more inspiration to put more on my influential channel which proves that my expectations are the same
as YSEALI’s aims and objectives. That does not make me only a competitive but also a suitable
representative for Vietnamese students to actively contribute to the success of YSEALI Academic Fellows
program.

By providing me and other emerging leaders with practical knowledge and valuable experiences, YSEALI
program turns the passionate youth into influential, committed and courageous leaders. Having the
opportunity to study in an international and intensive condition, other young leaders like me after
returning to our countries can cement relationships between the USA and ASEAN countries. With all the
inspirations and experiences acquired from YSEALI, the young – the future owners of the world will be
ready to make huge differences through practical contributions in our communities. I believe that every
journey is not the mountain I conquer, but myself. I hope I can make ASEAN “One Vision- One Identity-
One Community”.
