Students attending Kaplan International Santa Barbara should either fly into Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX), which is located approximately 88 miles from Santa Barbara, or fly into Santa Barbara
Airport (SBA), which is located approximately 10 miles from the school.

If you have booked an Airport Transfer Service:

There are many transfer services working in LAX and SBA. Please be sure to find the greeter with a sign
with either your name or “Kaplan” on it.

•If your flight is international (LAX), pass through customs; your driver will be in the lobby area.

•If your flight is domestic (LAX or SBA), a driver will meet you outside the baggage claim area.

Look carefully for the greeter. If you do not see the greeter in the designated area, go to the Information
Desk and ask them to page “the Kaplan International Airport Greeter”.

Please note, the airport transfer service will only wait for a student for 2 hours after an international
flight lands or 1 hour after a domestic flight lands. If your flight is international, you must contact the
airport transfer greeter or the KI emergency number within 2 hours after landing; if your flight is
domestic, you must contact the airport transfer greeter or the KI emergency number within 1 hour after
landing. If you do not contact the airport greeter or the KI emergency number within the required time,
you will need to find your own transportation to your accommodation.

Please do not accept a transfer or take a ride with anyone except a Kaplan International greeter. If you
use a non-KI transfer service or use a taxi, you will not be reimbursed for the pre-booked airport transfer
service.
If you have any flight changes, you miss your connecting flight or you need help meeting the Airport
Transfer Service, please call the school’s emergency number at 1.805.966.1620 for help. Be prepared to
tell them your name, the school name (Kaplan International Santa Barbara) and your location.

If you have not booked an Airport Transfer Service:

Students who do not book an airport transfer service through KI should take a taxi to their
accommodation.

You may also be able to take a ride-sharing service (e.g. Uber, Lyft, etc.) to your accommodation. If
available, please follow the signs at the airport for “ride share” to meet your driver in the designated
pick up area.

You are sure to enjoy your stay at La Brezza! It is quintessential California living in the heart of Santa
Barbara! The complex is in downtown Santa Barbara and very famous within American college students.
If you want to experience the American college experience, you will love our residence! You are close to
restaurants, public transportation and walking distance to school and the beach!

The Apartment complex is surrounded by trees, and a tropical courtyard. The services include private
and shared bedrooms with furniture, a shared bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living
room with flat screen television, dining area, laundry facility, and a swimming pool with barbeque area.

Each apartment has 2 bedrooms; one or both are a twin room. The apartments are male or female only.
The bathroom is shared with a bath tub and a shower, a toilet and storage area for personal items.
Please note that electricity, gas, water, and cable television are included in the accommodation fee;
however the electrical outlets may require an adaptor that students provide themselves. Each room has
free high-speed internet access, and wireless is available. For your laundry there is a clean laundry- card
operated in the laundry facility with washer and dryers on site.
On Monday Orientation you will ask to sign the La Brezza Rules and Expectations and fill out the Security
Deposit Form with your credit card information. If no damages are made and the residence is left in
good condition the credit card will not be charged.

Students are issued an apartment key of which they are responsible for. Losing the key will result in a
key replacement fee.

Bed linens and towels are provided. Student is responsible for washing their own linens and towels. New
linens and towels can be issued if necessary, for a fee.

Visitors are allowed during the day, however no guests are allowed between 10pm and 7am. Quiet
hours are from 10pm until 8am. Students are requested to be considerate to their housemates, and
keep noise levels to a minimum.

ORIENTATION AND SCHOOL INFORMATION

We encourage you to follow and link the school Facebook page before you arrive and especially
during your stay. This will give you an idea of what is happening in the school and help you connect
with staff and students to make you experience more enjoyable. This is also where we will post
notification of any unexpected school closures. It is important you check our Facebook page for any
messages while you are attending the school, especially if there is severe weather in the area (e.g.
wildfire, flood, etc.) If the school cannot open or school opening will be delayed, we will post a
message as soon as possible (the night before or in the morning) to advise you of this, along with
information on how to get further updates and any alternative scheduling (if applicable).

Your First Day

Your course will begin with orientation at 9:00 AM on Monday.

Orientation will include:

•A welcome talk by the School Director
•A placement test to determine the course level you require
•Information about your classes and your class schedule
•Information about the school and a school tour
 •Information about the surrounding area
•Accommodation information
•Completion of forms and collection of any outstanding payments
