Introduction
The world we live in today, is in constant evolution. In order for people to stay relevant,
they must embrace these new advancements and discoveries in society. The same must be for
educators. In today’s world, students and adults are able to access infinite information and
applications at the palm of their hands. Whether it is a cellphone, tablet, or computer, all of these
technologies have impacted the way people live their lives day to day. As modern technology
continues to progress and engage the younger generations, we as teachers must do the same and

These technologies and services are provided for majority of schools in Prince George’s
County. However, only Title 1 schools which serve a low-income community are provided iPads
or other tablets. Teacher classrooms are provided with a limited quantity of desktop computers.
The library and media center serves as a main source for technology access where students can
access much needed resources for intervention and extended learning opportunities. There are
various opportunities for students to have access to these resources afterschool if needed. In
addition, the schools collaborate with local community centers and libraries to assist in ensuring
students can have access to the educational resources needed. Also, a lot of the resources that the
county and schools approve are cellphone and tablet friendly which allows for students to have
equal access in the comfort of their own homes. Prince George’s County Public Schools utilizes
an application known as “Clever” where students can access resources such as learning
applications, virtual libraries, and even their textbooks online simply by using their given
Schools throughout the district vary with technology use. While technology integration is
not a requirement in instruction, equal access to the technologies provides a challenge. Specific
schools under the Title 1 program receive special funding to provide these technologies, while
others are limited in their availability and funding. According to the feedback, educators utilize
all of the above services and technologies in the classroom, however, these technologies are not
available at a 1:1 student ratio that other schools may offer. Outside of the SMART Board and

quantity of technology made available, an additional challenge that exist is engaging faculty
members in the school to better utilize and integrate these technologies in daily instruction in the
classroom. With a population of educators ranging from first year teachers to veterans, this

Overview of Feedback
Upon the feedback that was received from my colleagues, the following has been
determined:
1. Majority of educators, both in and out of the classroom, have somewhat proficient
experience with technology in the classroom
2. Most of the teachers (16 or 55.17%) interviewed have been teaching for 8 or more years.
There are only 4 teachers (13.97%) who are considered new or novice teachers, while 9
(31.03%) teachers have been teaching from 4-7 years. While majority may feel
comfortable with technology usage in the classroom, this may present a challenge to the
new teachers as they are still getting “established” in the classroom.
3. Based on types of technology(applications) used in the classroom, most teachers
identified with Google Suites (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc;), Microsoft Office, Clever, and
online textbook resources, however, it was made evident that teachers lacked familiarity
on specific intervention resources such as MyOn, Safari Montage, HMH Ed, Mastery
Connect, i-Ready, and classroom websites. This displays that most teachers have a solid
DTTP Garrison
foundation on technology usage, however, are not aware of the variety of options to
enhance their instruction.
4. Based on the types of technologies(hardware), majority of the teachers use the basic
provided tools such as speakers, projectors, and computers. However, other hardware
technologies such as SMART Boards and tablets, were used at a low percentage.
5. The interviewed educators are open to learning more about technology integration and
how it can be used to enhance instruction. Teachers highlighted Mastery Connect, Google
Suites, and Classroom website as the top 3 technologies they would like to learn about.
Many teachers also mentioned that they are not open to attending after school PD
sessions (non-paid) while they were open to attending multiple paid PD sessions or
sessions on professional development days.

Evaluation
In order to ensure the effectiveness of the training program, there will be a field test
provided. This field test will be given to 5 educators of different technology use competences.
They will participate in the “Entering Google Drive” course where they will provide feedback
on the facilitator, their learning, and content of the course. The difference in technology use
competences will provide clearer feedback on how to improve the course deliveries before the
program is launched.
Evaluation Model:
In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the technology training session, the
Kirkpatrick Model will be utilized. The Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model is broken down into the
4 levels:

2. Learning
3. Behavior

4. Results
Feedback from the evaluations will provide clarity to the next steps as Prince George’s
County Public Schools moves forward in technology integration. In addition, this model puts
accountability on the staff as well when it comes to implementing the newly learned
resources.
The course and overall training evaluation will be delivered on the Survey Monkey
platform due to its reliability and ability to collect organized information. Questions will be
broken down under each of the 4 levels to obtain accurate feedback. In addition, this feedback
will be utilized in the follow-up sessions after the trainings are complete.

implementing the knowledge they’ve acquired in technology into instruction. In addition, the
follow-up will allow for coaching sessions and additional professional development training
sessions. All technology trained participants will take a survey based on the Kirkpatrick
Evaluation Model where they will reflect upon their learning and accountability. The survey will
