Classroom Management Plan 1

Philosophical Statement

As a teacher, I aspire to be a light on the path for many kids. I want to be someone
beyond an ordinary teacher. I want to expand minds, open their hearts to the wonders of this
world, help them discover and inspire who they truly are and let them know that everything is
this life is worth learning. You can never learn enough and you always have more knowledge to
gain. Teaching from the basics of the ABC’s, addition, subtractions, to the moral and values that
they need to learn to become good citizens. With all this in my mind and heart, I truly believe I
can accomplish great things in my classroom. For this to be accomplished I will work hard to
gain the trust of every individual that comes and goes into my classroom. I am committed to
making my classroom safe and engage my students through the curriculum as well as getting to
know them and interacting with them one on one. Meeting every single student needs is the key
for me to understand where they are coming from and what I can do to fulfill their desires. I will
treat each child as a unique individual who needs a secure, safe, caring and most important a
stimulating environment in which they will reach a high level of maturity emotionally, socially,
intellectually and physically. Two elements that I believe will make a great asset in my
classroom will be, 1) Promoting love and respect amongst all people and all things, and 2)
Allowing the kids natural minds and curiosities to guide and help his/ her learning process.
Being able to teach love and respect will be a challenge that I am willing to take.
Knowing that we all come from different social economic background, cultures, religions, skin
colors, morals and beliefs, my goal is to find a common ground and build a strong solid
relationship between my students and I. Creating an environment where each student has a voice
and its being heard and not judged is a step to building self-esteem. Everyone one will be treated
equally and have respect for the teacher, their classmates and the lessons presented and they will
be aware of what is expected from them. Helping them carry out what has been taught in my
classroom will be the real-life test, even for myself. Maya Angelou once said “It is time for
parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength”.
Preparing them to know that there is dark and light, good and bad, happiness and sadness but
they will overcome prejudice and inequality shoulder to shoulder with the support of our
classmates, teacher and parents. All of this will be accomplished with a great foundation of
respect, and if there is respect, there is care and love.
I will give my students the chance to explore and be curious. Incorporating different
material into my lesson plans that will have a variety of fun hands on activities and giving them
the adequate amount of time, space and resources so they can take the best advantage of what is
being presented. This will give them an opportunity to discover and explore what they are
passionate about and it will construct powerful knowledge so that once they are ready to take the
next step in their educational life they know what they stand on and pursue a life and carrier of
their choice. At the end of the day curiosity is the engine to achieving great things and leading us
down to new paths and opportunities.
Teaching is in my heart and nothing in this world can tell me otherwise. I will take this as
a lifelong learning processes where every day I will be faced with new challenges, new
strategies, learning opportunities from the children, parents and other colleagues. Nothing to me
is purer than a smile of a child, their innocence and the joy in their hearts. Because of this, I will
never forget to cherish every single second of my teaching journey and my heart will always be
there to remind me that everything I am doing is for the better of our kid’s future and that what I
do matters and whatever they accomplish will make an impact on this world.

Room Arrangement Map(s)

When some individual walks into my classroom they will immediately feel welcome and

safe. I will have my classroom in different themes that pertain to each student’s personal interest

and something of their choice (must be classroom appropriate). The desk will be arranged in

groups of four for group activities this will help students engage with on another and help them

with social skills and team work and whenever the lesson plan asks for individual work such as

exams or quizzes it will be arranged in rows, also I will arrange it in a big square so everyone

can feel incorporated when having big discussion. The teachers desk will be in the front of the

classroom (Right or left). The white board is in the front of the class, the walls will be covered

with colorful posters, art work, maps, history, math posters, different culture information and

more. The ABC’s will be running on the top of the white board, there will be a station for kids to

find materials like their personal journals, paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, etc. On one of the

back corners there will be a comfortable carpet for kids to gather for any run games or activities,

there will also be a bookshelf where kids can find books of their personal interest and other

books that might be resourceful for their learning. I will have a board with each student’s

birthday, a board with their rewards and goals, this is student centered board so they can feel part

of the classroom and remind everyone that they belong in the class, and a board with vocabulary

and fun facts. As we move through the school year a lot of their work will be posted on the

“Spotlight” bulletin board, this will help kids stay motivated and show everyone that they are

progressing in the class and their work will be shown to everyone. The white board will have

daily information such as, objectives, homework and daily goals, it will be clearly stated and

verbally reminded of what is expected from them. Down below are a few maps of my classroom:

Classroom Rules and Norms:

My classroom rules are determined on what my students and I believe to be great qualities to

be a successful learner. On the first day of school the students will become knowledgeable of

what is expected from their behavior and I will allow them to help me out and come up with a

few strategies in how to keep our classroom running smoothly. Students will be reminded

constantly about the classroom rules and norms. After that school administrators and parents will

be notified of the classroom rooms and how they pertain to my classroom beliefs. However,

some rules will be already giving to students such as:

 We respect each other’s and their opinions: This is an element that I will live by in my

classroom and all the students will be part of it. Respecting when someone else is

speaking is important because it will make students feel safe and that their voices can be

heard and they matter. I will be the one to set the example for them.

 We try our best and learn from our mistakes. Never quit: When teaching young children,

they need to know that sometimes we will make mistakes or not be very successful at

something, but it’s okay because we always learn from our mistakes and that’s how life

goes, we never quit and just keep trying until we succeed.

 Be polite: Kids should learn how to be polite to others and saying thank you is part of that

process. First you say “Please “then “Thank you”, following up with “You're welcome”.

 Students rules: Allowing the students to share some of their thoughts and opinions about

what could potentially be good classroom rules is important for me because that’s

building a relationship between them and the teacher. They can be trusted and they will

be aware that it’s not just my rules but our rules and we all follow them, even myself.

Classroom Procedures:

In the classroom, I want to be very consistent. On the white board, I will have an agenda

with few things for them to write down as soon as they come to class. These will include any

homework, objectives and goals for the day. I want to sometimes allow them sometimes to write

on their journals, have individual folders for them to add on any worksheets they’ve completed

for the day and take home any homework. Daily, I will go around the room and check off the

completed homework, I will not be grading anything since there will be a day that all

assignments will be turned in and for those that didn’t get a check there will be a chance to

complete all work by the due line. By giving a check and not a grade I believe it creates

consistency in the classroom but no negative feelings for those that missed a check. A weekly to

do list will be sent home to the parents so they can be aware of what its being taught in class and

the homework that will be sent home so they can have time to plan and teach the kids about time

management. If in the middle of a lesson there is an interruption from a student such as maybe
Classroom Management Plan 6

they don’t understand what is being taught, I will ask what their question is and if time allows it

and its related to the topic I will answer it and if not we will write it down on the board and get

back to it when class is over or if there’s a break in between. To prevent disruptions such as

restroom or water break, kids will be told be raise their hand and cross their fingers for restroom

break and I will just nod my head yes or no, and a fist for water break. This will prevent

interruptions while I am teaching a lesson or another student is talking. When wrapping up and

getting ready to end class, I will notify the students that we have 15 minutes left and that if they

need help or are confused about any homework or what its expected from them to please raise

their hand and I will individually answer any questions or concerns that they might have. From

the first day of school and the different strategies and procedures will be said to them and I will

remind them every day until everyone understand on how the classroom will be running

smoothly. But being consistent and repetitive will be very helpful.

Differentiation for Special Populations:

When preparing lesson plans, I will be conscious of those that need special

accommodations but my lesson will be equally for the most challenged to the most gifted. The

lessons will include a lot of visual components for those that are more of a visual learn,

collaborative activities so they can all work and help each other, peer coaching will be great for

those that understand the material and can get more practice while helping a peer that needs help,

for those with a language barrier, the material will be presented to them in English and in their

first language so they can relate back if they are having trouble understanding. But however, we

don’t want to hinder those students from learning in a different way or style. I will give them

different ways to work on their weaknesses, if tutoring is needed the parents will be notified and
Classroom Management Plan 7

extra help will be provided. Being patient and understanding will help me understand what I

need to do to help each student be successful in the classroom.

Student Roles in Classroom Management:

Involving students into my classroom management for me won’t be an issue. First, I am

allowing them to incorporate their thoughts and opinions into our classroom rules and norms and

that is the very big step. They will know that the classroom is not only mine but theirs too and

there for everyone is to be treated equally and fallow the norms. Secondly, the classroom will be

themed to their choice, this will create a sense of always feeling welcome and safe. Always

allowing them to speak up for themselves and to not be afraid to give their opinions is very

important to create a positive atmosphere. If they have and ideas that can be applied to the

classroom and are acceptable by the school, they will be taken into consideration and

incorporated into our classroom. To have a successful classroom student however must follow

rules and do what is expected from them and for me, I will do what its expected from me so my

students can succeed.
