Introduction

Patimbao is one of the barangays in the municipality of Santa Cruz, in the

province of Laguna. Based on the latest survey conducted by the Sangguniang
Barangay, the barangay has 9,006 population and 2,153 households. There are 3, 393
male and 3, 528 female.

Last August 17 and August 19 2019,the researchers conducted a community

profiling and survey on environmental issues and concern in Brgy. Patimbao among
selected officials and residents of the barangay. This is in preparation for their upcoming
community service in that specific barangay with the aim to serve the community and to
help environment become a habitable place to live.

Results of Community Profile and Survey

This presents the data collected from Brgy. Patimbao. The researchers also
interpret the results of their gathered data and findings from their questionnaires.

As indicated in Figure 1, is the total number of community according to age. The

figure implies that the residents who are 25-29 YRS. dominate the population of the
study.

As indicated in Figure 2, the total number of community according to gender. The

figure implies that the female residents dominate the male population.

Table 1 shows the results of in the Past Environmental Awareness in terms of

Environmental Programs. 83% yes and 14% No, so the respondents of Brgy.Patimbao,
Sta. Cruz, Laguna shows the Past Environmental Program is Success through the total
answer.

Table 3 shows the Mean and Standard Deviation of Environmental Awareness in

Local Government Personnel and Citizens. The Mean in Local Government Personnel
is 3.27 and Citizens is 3.09. The Standard Deviation is 0.69 and Citizen is 0.76 and the
result is good.

in Local Government Personnel and Citizens. The Mean in Local Government
Personnel is 3.1 and Citizens is 3.01. The Standard Deviation is 0.79 and Citizen is 0.86
and the result is good.

is 3.19 and Citizens is 2.95. The Standard Deviation is 0.77 and Citizen is 0.83 and the
result is good.

Table 6 shows the Mean and Standard Deviation of Environmental Practices in

the following statements. The Mean in statement 1 is 3.17 and the Standard Deviation is
0.78. The Mean in statement 2 is 3.1 and the Standard Deviation is 0.81. The Mean in
statement 3 is 2.86 and the Standard Deviation is 0.87. The Mean in statement 4 is 2.95
and the Standard Deviation is 0.84. The Mean in statement 5 is 3.06 and the Standard
Deviation is 0.84. The Mean in statement 6 is 2.81 and the Standard Deviation is 0.93
and the result is good.

Conclusions

Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in terms of Past Environmental

Programs, Brgy. Patimbao has various environmental programs such as Waste
Segregation, Clean and Green Program and Exchange Bottle Program.

Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the past environmental programs
of Brgy. Patimbao are successful.

Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in terms of Environmental

Awareness, Local Government Personnel and Citizens are aware of their environment.
This was supported by the result which is interpreted as “Good”.

Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in terms of Environmental

Commitment, Local Government Personnel and Citizens are committed about their
environment. This was supported by the result which is interpreted as “Good”.
 Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in terms of Environmental Action,
Local Government Personnel and Citizens take action in their environment. This was
supported by the result which is interpreted as “Good”.

Based on the findings, it can be concluded that in terms of Environmental

Practices, Brgy. Patimbao do their part well in waste segregation, use of plastic
products, reusing, reducing and recycling wastes, conservation of water and energy and
even in anti-smoking policy. This was supported by the result which is interpreted as
“Good”.

Therefore, the environmental issues and concern is success since the overall
result is good.

Environmental Issues and Concerns with Recommendations

For the citizens, they should provide trash bins for biodegradable and non-
biodegradable. And encourage residents of the barangay to save recyclable materials
and use it to make armchair and to start their cleanliness on their own place. And build
compost pit to reduce the waste and prevent open burning.

For the local government personnel, in their clogged open canal, they should
provide net on every canal to separate the waste and the government personnel must
check the canal every day and clean it every 2 weeks and cover it. And they need to put
a sign on every people who throw waste on the canal has a consequences.
